Excellent voiceover and pop-up descriptions - way more useful than the thousands of 'how to install NZBGet' and ' how to install Sonarr' without any explanation of settings
Um, thats tough! Well, they are both good. I am a long time user of sab so I like that a lot. But been using nzbget on my other server a while now too and getting to like it. But to be honest for me so long as it downloads what I want once its setup I am happy with it. I would say for servers with weaker CPUs etc, probably I would go for nzbget as its a bit lighter.
Hi all, new to unraid... your videos have been instrumental in getting my box up and running... my question relates to the docker network type, bridge vs host... i plan on doing a lot of movie downloads... would it be better to setup nzbget in host mode? Or should nzbget/radarr/sonarr all be bridge mode? Wondering if inter-container traffic is faster that way? I do not have fiber to the house and 1Gbps connect.
This worked for me, but downloaded content would stay in the dst/categories directory, but Sonarr or Radarr would not move the content over to my main libraries. I got it to work, but I had to create some extra paths in NZBGet, Sonarr and Radarr for it it work. Video was still helpful though because I'm really new to this.
Oddly enough i was having issues as they were giving me a port value of 119 and then i used the port you mentioned in the video and enabled encryption and there was no issues
I believe there may be a bug with the binhex nzbget docker. I have the issues others reported where the downloads will get stuck on post processing and will stay that way until the docker is reset. I'm moving over to the linexserver version for now. The nzbget webpage has a bug report on this issue. the last message on that report is from binhex stating the issue is still there/not resolved.
Your videos are quite impressive! I've really enjoyed learning what unRAID can do. I have some suggestions if you are open to it: 1. How to move a Parallels Desktop VM to unRAID/KVM. 2. Centralized desktop backup - Windows File History vs alternatives etc. 3. Pihole or other network wide ad blocking solution. 4. Squid or other caching server solution. 5. iSCSI - would probably need VM for this? 6. Security NVR. I would be especially interested if it is possible to set up VMs with parallels and then move them to unRAID.
Hi Brandon. I will look at these topics. I have a pihole video that should be up in next few weeks. I haven't tried converting a pararells VM to KVM but it's easy to do with VMware. Check my OSX video here ruclips.net/video/i3vwevALaLU/видео.html
I was hoping you would do a NZBget video. Perfect timing for me. Thanks again for another great video! Any chance we will get a Emby vid in the future?
Same here. Emby is definitely the way to go. I believe its a better product but most people who use Plex dont even know there is another option. Emby needs better marketing and needs more people to spread the word about it. I really look forward to your video on Emby. Thanks again for all the great unRaid videos, they have been my go to source for helping me setup my first unRaid server im currently working on!
So currently I'm having problems with permissions in the download folder it's set to (user nobody). I tried Docker safe new permissions which works on the folders that are already downloaded, but when I download another file, it sets it back to (user nobody) Any idea?
My NZBGet works on its own, and Sonarr too. But when I try to add a downloader in Sonarr the test connection fails. NZBGet gets a message saying a non-nzbget source is pinging it, but I've tried port forwarding and several things but haven't been able to get Sonarr to talk to NZBGet
Now in 2021 looks like the NZBGet WebUI is much the same four years on. If it's setup with SSL is there any need to consider using VPN options? I see there are two nzbgetvpn apps from different repos, so what do they do that using SSL doesn't accomplish in terms of protecting privacy?
Basically using a vpn version of nzbget will hide from your isp that you are connecting to a usnenet server. The ssl will encrypt the traffic so the isp can see the data coming from the usenet server but they still know you connect to one. But other than that no advantage.
@@SpaceinvaderOne Thank you for taking the time to reply :) This came up because I was getting 1.5MB/s with SABnzbvpn from Binhex, while the NewsLazer app from Eweka was routinely getting 6.5MB/s on PC through a VPN - so I thought I'd try NZBGet on unRAID - instant increase to expected 6.5MB/s :) Just FYI. Thanks
Please help. my gtx960 is not boosting to its usual speed. when using bare metal it boosts beyond 1300mhz. but in the vm it doenst go beyond 1190mhz. Please help. this is the only thing thats bothering my right now
Yes I am going to be making a video on that, just making a ryzen server right now so i will make an encrypted array on that. (at the moment we cant convert an existing array to be encrypted)
Yes, you can run both sonarr and radarr in a docker container on unRAID. I have made videos how here. ruclips.net/video/8tyNcBsuC1E/видео.html ruclips.net/video/j6lT7zDkT4M/видео.html No Sonarr doesn't install anything else as a dependency like that in the container. You have to point Sonarr to whichever download client you want to use in the configuration.
Hello. i recently got into using unraid for a small backup server for my docs and games. im also running a vm. after refering to your 2 part video ( of How to setup VM as daily driver and for Gaming ), im able to do most of the things. but there are some hiccups. 1. my keyboard and mouse sometimes dont get passed through. i have to restart the vm multiple times to get it to pass through. 2. when i shutdown my vm. the screen keeps turning on and off (displaying no signal in between on and off). 3. when trying to pass through a usb controller (on board, also says reset with respect to your usb controller passthrough video) if i shutdown the vm from inside and try to start it again the controller doesnt pass through. but if i switch the vm off using the web interface of unraid(not force stop, just normal). it passes through on the next start.
Spaceinvader One btw the fix to the usb controller not resetting was to shut down the vm from the web gui but not from inside the vm. But my screen still turns on and off after shutting down the vm. ( I'm using a nvidia gtx 960 4gb )
Is there a way to setup VPN for NZBget? I see this repo from binhex does not have any vpn options similar to delugevpn or sabnzbvpn from binhex. there is not setting for vpn in both the ui or the docker settings.
I got it setup but screwed up my paths...it says it downloaded to /usr/local/bin/nzbget/downloads/completed/Series/ but I have no idea how to get to that in unRAID! lol Can you point me in the right direction when it comes to the filesystem in this thing? Thank you! EPIC videos!!
hey man, i had the same problem, did you ever find out where it downloaded to? The solution was to change the MainDir path in NZBget to /data, but i still have no idea where my test file downloaded to. Guess ill have to dig though using krusader
@@bennneb2 somebody just told me the answer you got to erase all app data in the appdata folder and then start from scratch and it works perfectly for directions
Thanks for the great video again. Can you also make a video to setup a Proxy with NZBGet and SabNZB? Like the previous videos for radarr end sonar using the VPN of Deluge.
You shouldn't need a VPN to download from Usenet, you can just turn on SSL encryption. Just make sure to pick a Usenet provider that does not log usage.

I was actually going to ask you if you were going to do an nzbget video. Thanks for this!
Hey Uriel, beat you to it lol! Glad you like it :)
Can this be routed through privoxy or an openvpn ?
Thanks, another top notch tutorial.
Thanks Ian. :)
Can we get an updated video of this
Very insightful, thank you for this.

Is this still the best set of provders for indexing and usenet?
Did you find the answer to this? In the US here
BTW, the eweka link is no longer valid. Tried to use it to support the channel, but no go at the moment.
Everything works except for the import. File just sits in the /data/dst/"category name" folder.
