    I know this is an old video but I have the exact same camera but lost the ac adapter. Where would be a good place to get a new one? And maybe a new battery too just in case?

    Hi, I tried to connect my camera (same model as yours) thourgh USB. When I try to power it on it does not work. I get only the 2 LEDs on it and they are flashing (the red and green led - power and charge). I used usb instead of your battery solution.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

      Perhaps you have the polarity + and - reversed? Thanks

    Hi Rihard, my camera is a Panasonic,takes 3,6 V / 970mA battery , and charge to USB 5V... I will try this and i 'll let u know how i did it .Well,it's sounds good ,i think it's gonna work.

    Hi Richard,
    Great video!!! I'm using a canon vixia hf g20 camcorder and I was wondering if this method would work for my camera. I would be interested in using sony np-f970 clone batteries as my power source. Any suggestions???

      I have used this same solution on my Canon Vixia HF R60 without issue. As long as the input power from the batteries (voltage is the same) it should work for you without issue. Thanks.

    I have Sony CX 240 camcorder , and i wanna use battery pack to run like u did , can u look up for me if it work or not ? oh and i have decent power pack which is 5.1v/2.0A output

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  9 лет назад

      ghy sambath This should work for you fine. Those specifications are very close to my specifications so I don't see a reason for it not working. Be very sure you get the polarity (+/-) correct. Thanks.

      ghy sambath As long as it supplies the 5 Volts DC you require I can't see why not. Make sure you get the polarity (+/-) output correct. Thanks.

    Your brade sticking 6-8volts up a USB device!!!!
    Max. voltage 5.00±0.25 V (pre-3.0); 5.00+0.25-0.55 V (USB 3.0)

    • @richardlloydusa

      At 1:12 I clearly state,"This applies to any device that runs on 5.2V on an external jack." I also state,"Make sure that you know the voltage and polarity for your device." I state that I am going to build a battery pack that plugs into the external power jack." Then I state that,"The specs on your power supply match the specs on your battery pack." Then I state that the power pack I am using is rated at 5.2V and that I am using 4 NiMH batteries at 1.2V which the total voltage will be 4.8V. If you were using standard batteries you would be at a max of 6V on the external battery supply. Not sure where you got the 8V from but again I did state that you know the power supply requirements prior to doing this.
      To my knowledge nowhere in the entire video do I suggest or state that you should plug this battery pack into the USB port. But if that is your charging/power port then checking the power supply for it would tell you what the voltage requirement would be. As you stated "Max. voltage 5.00±0.25 V (pre-3.0); 5.00+0.25-0.55 V (USB 3.0)" My power pack with 4X1.2V NiMH batteries would do the job nicely but regular batteries would put it over the limit. Again If you checked the power specifications you would know NOT to do that. But thank you very much for your comment and the information as it may help someone who is going to do this with a USB plug instead of a standard AC power adapter plug. Sorry for the long reply but hopefully it will help someone not to overpower their equipment.
