    Testing out some new EQ settings trying to dial in this 8-string. Turns out it sounds best with almost no post-EQ, just a hi/low pass filter and that's it. Spent an hour screwing around with the EQ graph and ended up not even using it. That's how tone chasing goes sometimes. 🙄

      Tone chasing is a funny game.

      I really wish you'd kind of do a screen recording demo of how you achieve your tones. I'm sort of new to recording (I use Reaper) and not well-versed with how things work or what they do. Been having trouble getting my recordings to sound good, not only on their own but in the context of the rest of the song when I layer them onto the album recordings. I think you demo-ing how you fiddle with your recordings to get your tones (like rough initial recording to final product) would be a huge help for people like me! Just some food for thought!

      That's alright, I sometimes end up spending around a whole day on just that, so an hour is nothing compared to that 😬😆. Awesome cover, by the way. Keep rocking, Mystic!

    sometime ago Stephen Carpenter started to record some "guitar only" takes, but it was only some playback, this is how he should've done dude, amazing job as always!

      I'm with ya, I wish playthrough videos didn't just use a playback but that seems to be how most guys do it now.

      @@areta-r Wdym "playbacks"? Also yeah, he was just playing along to the recordings. Pretty lame tbh, would've wanted to hear a fresh recording of it in real-time

    I remember hearing that growl when this song first came out. Was just starting to wrap my head around the whole extended range thing with stuff like this and Periphery.

    I don't understand all these technical terms: What does equalizer settings mean? What is the high/low filter? And what is the EQ graph? 😅😊

    • @MysticGuitar77
      @MysticGuitar77  20 дней назад +3

      EQ is just your sound frequency adjustments. You can use an EQ graph to fine tune certain frequencies you want to boost or take out to make the guitar tone sound better. High pass takes out the really low, muddy frequencies you don't want and low pass does the opposite and takes out all the high, harsh frequencies you don't want.

    • @Sara.M25
      @Sara.M25 20 дней назад

      I get it. 😊 And for each song you play do you have to adjust the frequency of the sound and do you use the EQ graph or are they just in this case because it's an 8 string guitar and you have to get used to playing it?

    • @MysticGuitar77
      @MysticGuitar77  20 дней назад +3

      @@Sara.M25 Depends on what guitar I use. I have a set EQ setting for each of my guitars and I'd just load up that saved setting for whatever guitar I'm recording with. Since this one is new, I had to set up a new EQ setting for it which is still a work in progress.

    • @Sara.M25

      I have a dumb curiosity: 😊 Which guitar did you remove from the guitar stands behind you to put the new guitar in and where did you put the guitar you removed?
