Thank you for making this video. I ordered that tool a few weeks ago and will be replacing my fuel level sensor in the tank this weekend.
Such a honest and helpful person
Thanks so much
Legend mate thanks my mechanic dont have a clue whats wrong with my car but I know its the fuel system because the symptoms point to one thing
Thanks a lot sir for your excellent video.
Excellent video can we check this with scan tool before we replace it ?
Thanks for the video. What is the reason replacing the filter? is the reason is fuel not flowing smoothly?
Good job Gerard, another good tool there:):)
Thanks Pat, tools for the job is half the battle at times :)
I have Question
When you lift the iron cover at the beginning, there is black glue. If you re-install the iron piece after finishing the work, will it be fixed and is it not preferable to add black glue again?
Hi did that replacement feel the difference now . One small thing I can feel petrol smell and the petrol cap when opened doesnot give pressure not sure if that is sealed or not
Thoughts pls
Do you know if this is the same on a 2006 Scion XA.
Thanks good video
Another great job.
🙏 You
I have a 2009 corolla and cranks but no start. Does the check engine light come on if the fuel pump is faulty? Thanks!
Thanks for the video
Mmmmmmmmm me going to need that tool ......!!!!! Yikes
But brilliantly explained .....thank you very much
😊😊🙏🙏
And ' THEY ' .....say youll never learn out offa u tubes .........!!!!
So there isn't regular kind fuel filter at all? I changed fuelpump for my opel back in day and it the fuel pump had same kind of filter but there was another filter in fuelline bottom of the car. Does toyota get away with just in tank one??
Hi I can't seem to locate a replacement online for the seal that's between the fuel tank and the fuel pump assembly, can you assist?
What symptoms did it have that required you to replace filter ?
Is there a cheaper 4 prong cover removal tool available in the US? I cant find it anywhere
Could you link me the page to buy this fuel filter as it is hard to find one. It will be much appreciated.
Hi etios same procedure ,I don't have the tool to turn the fuel tank to open it as per your video you day I must use a hammer and screw driver to bang it.
Thanks very helpful
🙏
I have a Toyota etios 2013 is it the same method.
what number is the socket you are using to open?
Thank so much for the information. I have issue with my 2015 vitz, I took to mechanic to check on the fuel filter, since then there’s smell of fuel inside the car. I took to another mechanic to check on that and tighten the cap but still there’s fuel smell. I have no idea how to go about fixing that, I will appreciate if you can advise on that.
Could be spilled fuel on your carpet
sir, how many km before change tbe fuel filter
How do u call the round white thing cover..I wanna buy
What is the black sealer how do reseal it
Gerard, do you by any chance know if it is as easy to get to the fuel pump on 2015 Venza as on this Yaris?
Again, that car is really made by Ford.
I wonder if this is a hatchback?
Thank you!
🙏🙏
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Robert
@@GerardBurkeBurkesGarage 😁😁🇮🇪
You the need the Ryco tool or if not tightened correctly there will a check engine code Large leak” and gas smell

Thank you , Where can I buy this in tank filter ?
A parts store ffs
Great video thank you for this!! Do you know if this in-tank filter is the only fuel filter on these models? Aygo, iQ, C1 and so on.. seems a bit flimsy

@@alexlobos7 sure..
Where can I get this tool?
Did you change filter just for service time or was there an issue with the cars running?
I would like to know this as well. @ 3:23 you can compare the old with the new (Is that new filter OEM?) I have a high mileage '07 Yaris hatch for my wife to do UberEATS with and the thing is just a nice solid, reliable, car. I'm willing to bet the previous owner never changed the fuel filter in it. I've owned it for a couple years and I haven't changed it either. MPG's should be approaching 40 in this little thing but I'm getting like 25 even on the highway. So now I'm considering changing it to see if the gas mileage improves.
What were the symptoms that needed a new filter. Was it reduced fuel pressure?
This is part of logbook servicing, no issues with the vehicle at all, the customer is just following the preventive maintenance guidelines set out from Toyota.
@@GerardBurkeBurkesGarage wild. how clogged is the filter in your opinion? was it at all necessary to do this?
Is this a diesel
My yaris 2008 sedan is hesitating and engine is shaking when starting but only morning time when engine is cold, no check engine light no error codes when scanning, what should I do please?
Did you ever find the problem? Mines is doing the same thing. I think it’s the fuel filter idk
Merci beaucoup ;-)
Slainte Zorus
Good job! after how many years/km does it need to be replaced?
Every 100k miles/ 125k miles 160k km or 200k km is a good time to replace or every 10 years.
@@nihonkokusai I went to the parts store and he said there is no point in changing the fuel filter and he showed me on the screen saying this part is for LIFE. A bit confused
I have a Yaris 2007 vvt 1.3 and it gives a engine light when checked it gave the code 0172 system too rich bank 1. You think a have to change the fuel pump?
Where is the seal though? Is it black?
This filter is the same at the D4D diesel model?
It is not, the in tank fuel filters in these are petrol models. Thanks for watching
@@GerardBurkeBurkesGarage thanx for the awnser
YARIS❤
itd sure be nice to have a US version of this video as european cars are NOT the same at all
Where can I get that tool?
Links are in the description 👍👌
Why the hell don't all car manufacturers put the damn thing in the engine compartment, where it is far more accessible, like some do !
Cause not many (if any) cars that have mechanical fuel pumps anymore
Just thinking here ... better to stop the contaminants from going through the electric pump in the first place, and with the large surface area of the screen greatly reduces the chance of getting clogged.
wow my 2007 model doesnt have paper filter
2:23 open
You here the dealerships call these lifetime filters, youre screwed if you break the plastic, it feels like playing russian roulette sometimes
This is part of logbook servicing, the customer is just following the preventive maintenance guidelines set from from Toyota. No lifetime filter exists in truth. That goes for other so called lifetime oils as well (sales gimmick)
How often are those fuel filters meant to be changed, both my aunties kias were never changed by the dealerships, i like to change them atleast every 40,000 country fuel can be alot dirtier.
@Sam S OK just to clarify for anybody who may be getting confused by this. Toyota like all other manufacturers have recommended intervals for certain items within the service schedules. For example a 100,000km service may include platinum spark plugs and be a higher cost service where a 110,000km service may be just an oil and filter change with all the usual checks.
This information is accessible to everyone should they want it. Our workshop have all the interval information for 95% of combustion vehicles on Australian roads.
A customer will ask how much it is for a "logbook service" and depending on the interval, we quote up and advise what items get replaced to maintain your manufacture warranty. Parts must meet or exceed OE quality and you must not skip services. This allows you to choose an approved repairer to have the service done.
@@closertothetruth9209 what Country are you based? Tell me the make and model (year, engine type etc..) and I can look it up for you on my lunch at work.
WA same as you, i was just curious , i have read one online manual ages ago for a car by memory it was very high kms it bewildered me,im largely in the remote wheatbelt right through to Kalgoorlie . Aunty marks everything using a UV texter as bolts are never going to be exactly tightened to to the exact same position. Ive worked on cars trucks trains earthmoving equipment but not alot exp on any cars after early 2000's thats when i gave it away. Family and freinds are the only ones i work on now, usually the big jobs to save them thousands and relieve them of the stress. Modern cars man they make you wonder, i want a tesla LOL
Toyota yaris 2011. 54000 ķm
oyota yaris 2011.
Merci
1st: Show the ring tool - I thought it was just a homemade tool you had created. 2nd: before removing the cap (ring) point to the position alignment indicators (triangle on tank & 3 ribs on the cap) or if there is only one way the ring can go on back on, mention that. LIKED the mention of (blue) marks for the filter mount into relation to the tank. 3rd: Would have liked seeing the reinstall of the cap (ring) not just mentioning how much pressure was needed to reinstall.
It’s very upsetting . I had a lean code , replaced MAF sensor , spark plugs , light came back on , replaced o2 sensor , light came on after 8 Miles. They told me they didn’t have a way to check fuel pressure on my 2008 Yaris . Feel like I am just throwing money at parts . They couldn’t (according to them ) find a vacuum leak although they did not do a smoke test on it . So upset as I already spent a lot of money and I’m poor .
Same problem here how did u fix it?
I know, i too am sick of paying to replace car parts that didnt need replacing... its cost a fortune. I wish mechanics could say what is wrong with car. Never before other than this yaris have i owned a car that cant be fixed but i need a car.
@@moaddeclerq7768 I am sorry , I must have missed your message somehow from when you first wrote and I know my answer is not relevant anymore probably but I replaced all four fuel injectors with used fuel injectors . It ran OK for a while but eventually other problems cropped up and I got rid of the car a few months back . Did you figure out what was causing your problem (if you had a similar issue ).
@@niksgee I feel you. I no longer have the car but everyday was another day that I’d hope I wouldn’t see a CEL come on. What kinds of problems is or was your Yaris having ?
you need to replace the lid aswell, the main fuel filter is in there.
This is a logbook service and items are replaced as per recommended by Toyota, no mention or requirement of anything else replaced in this interval 👌
On my vehicle that is called a : "fuel pump strainer" and the fuel filter is in a different location.
Huh, Toyota...??
When nothing works , a 2 foot pry bar with a 4 pound hammer works perfectly fine. Just buy new retainer ring from toyota before breaking. 10 minutes with my method in and out.
Fuel filter or fuel pump? this call it fuel pump not fuel filter
replaced part was fuel filter pad
That is not the fuel filter, it is Just a net that prevents solid particles to enter the fuel pump..... 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

WHATS THE POINT THEN?
U R SO INSECURE...LOL
OR DID U REALISE U NEED NO TRAINING FOR THAT...XD
You wouldn’t expect such a tricky complicated piece of nightmare design from Toyota. Gone are the days of just disconnecting two hoses with an in-line filter.
That's because the 2014 and above are all, Ford vehicles If you trace the car, you'll see that it was made by Ford. It's not really a Toyota for soldom to Toyota. That's why they are IA's.
That was so nice of Toyota putting the thing under the most hard to fucking access places on the car. But, I'm sure we're all just dumb idiots who don't get why they put it there. Didn't an ex Jaguar engineer give them that idea? I know they think, "well you'll never need to replace it". The one in the video was fucking black! Bulll shit you never need to replace them.
ÀQÀ
What an awful place to have a service part most un Toyota like
