      I used to see them in the late 90s/early 2000s at Ely and Peterborough on the way to see my dad. As a kid I thought the made the coolest sounds of any train ever, kind of like a racing car as they pull away. The new units are so bland by comparison.

    Perks of living in the south east of London is I still get to hear a similar sound from the 465/9s

    bro still got the NSE logo

    I remember these from back in the day when they wore NSE livery... Used to see them at Peterborough and Ely. Doesn't seem that long ago tbh. Seems insanely wasteful they got scrapped rather than being cascaded to elsewhere. They had character unlike many modern trains.

      100% Northern could use them. I love the 319s but the 365s are objectively better trains. Great Western could of had them instead of 387s.

    why did this "happy train"was sent to scrap so early?

    • @adamashelby7033
      @adamashelby7033  7 месяцев назад +1

      Nobody really wanted them and they’re an awkward sized fleet so made it difficult for them to find a new operator

    • @soundseeker63
      @soundseeker63 5 месяцев назад +1

      One of the many silly aspects of the privatised system with so many different companies all doing their own thing. They should have been refurbished and cascaded rather than scrapped. Thats what BR would have done anyway.

      I believe it was to stop glare on the cameras so the driver could see when to close the doors but somebody feel free to correct me if I’m wrong!
