- Families across New York City say money is being stolen from their SNAP benefits.
Dozens of families have reached out to New York Assemblymember Khaleel Anderson for help. They go grocery shopping with their EBT cards that hold their SNAP benefits, only to realize their money is gone. Now, Anderson is demanding reimbursements.

I use my EBT card at 3 regular places all well known supermarkets. It's not right stealing food out of people's mouths.
Has anyone considered that some of the crimes are inside jobs? Very few people shield their pin numbers. Lots of stores have cameras mounted above their registers. Employees lurking around the self-checkout lanes.

@@marymotherofgod4861 I try not to use my debit card. Once a week, I typically withdraw the cash I need for groceries and other items. If I have to use my card in a store, I shield my pin and make sure no one is shoulder surfing. A few days ago, I had to ask a store employee to stop looking over my shoulder!

I live in Massachusetts and I see a lot of store owners who usually are not American go into super markets and clear their shelves of soda and water and Gatorade and use food stamps. Years ago stores or other places would buy food stamps. They had a machine that would turn it into cash but the state caught on and shut all these places down

The same thing happened to me 200 in food stamps was taken off my ebt card and they track it down to California I'm still waiting to get the funds back it's sad

It happened to me also. I was in Puerto Rico. A friend payed for my trip and when I came backI I was left with $45 for groceries. $200 was taken from me.

Kalil Anderson is the only politician I have heard trying to do something. I do not live in NY. I have heard about these thefts happening in Baltimore, Philly, Chicago etc., and this is the first time I have seen a politician involved. In the other news stories, it is just the victim and reporters speaking, and then generic information from the state's SNAP administrator appears.

My mother's EBT card fund's we're stolen without them having the card. Some purchases were made in New York. However the DHS worker was able to track and investigate to find out that those purchases was coming from out of state and more than one state too.. My mother was able to get back her monthly Grant funds from the time it occurred. Which is a true blessing to her since she is on a fixed income and retired. All were purchases of $5 and under.

This Has been going on all over the entire country for over a year. Within one year it's expanded from California to all of the United States . It started with a breech in child suopor here in Maryland . Custodial parents like myself had experienced their child support checks being taken for months I believe it started when I switch my card over tomorrow but I mean that's another thing. this was one year ago to the date in November. The state of Maryland gave out one year of free credit monitoring. Later on EBT benefits and social security had started to been stolen here as well. As I started to look ontonit deeper . I mean no harm but it's like the Russian hackers have taken over . And I by that I can say From Maryland a few months before the child support system was hacked the entire city of Baltimore . ( CITY HALL ) had it's government p.

I believe that it definitely is an inside job. And it has been going throughout all government agencies.
It seems to me that a better effort needs to be made to track down the establishments who have skimmers on their card readers and investigate the crooked store owners who are in on this scam and close down their stores permanently and arrest them and bring them to justice. This fraud has to be stopped and law enforcement needs to come to the plate and do its job.
I think it may be an inside job. This is concerning if they are talking about digital currency and these are all benefits connected to government agencies. I think they could at least have a max amount that can be used daily. Don't necessarily think it's skimmers in all places. I think one person in MD said they had chg'd the pswrd on her account where she can chk her benefits.

I had my benefits stolen so much taking and no one help at all. This was staying a shelter. I was waiting for my mail and they stole it and activated it
So have I and my job money so I call the fbi and told them I been getting all my money stolen , income tax money aswell I had to tell the FBI I got family that don’t like me and a do anything to get me to suffer I’m not playing I have them investigated a lot of ppl that I know have access to the system data base

in maryland alot of cash stolen they took out their funds at midnight usually its 500 a day on bank card ebt more i guess just change pin
They may have to go back to the food stamp books and start depositing their cash into their personal bank accounts how can you do this to somebody and the bad thing is the people affected benefits won't be replaced.

This just happened to me on August 3 this year and I can not get in contact with nobody. I’m glad i came across this video even tho it’s 8 months ago it’s still happening. At that time when they took my snap benefits I did not have my card on me. My card was cloned and was used in California and they took all the funds in 45 minutes time
They stolen all of my EBT food benefit in May of 2023 ,all three charged from Texas Target and Walmart but I live in California . Then We just got stolen again in August 2023 ,this time they use my card in Florida Walmart and Sam Club . I don't understand why our government could not find these thief , may be time the stores should be a blame for that because they didn't secured their machine don't you think ?

I'm in Indiana and we have tech that's from the stone age here still. Idk what they got in NY but they still use the verifone system in most gas station and convenient stores here. Plus not to mention that in most little stores they got everything behind the glass. So they take your card to swipe and then ask you your pin to put into the machine. If you get in a shady place and somebody really wanted to they could easily rob you when you walk out, and you just told them your pin cuz the people enter it in for you. Not to mention if the worker in the gas wanted to be shady they could just write your number to the card down and type it in and they got your pin cuz you had to tell them in order to use your card at their store. I hate doing that. But when you got your kiddos in there and they're thirsty, hungry, and whining for a snack you just go ahead and do it cuz you don't know what else to do. No to mention all the times that those gas stations charge you tax and they know they're not suppose to. I gave up mentioning it to them because they get really puffy about it. They'll say, " Really it's like 30 cents, are you really trippin' about it?!?!" But if you think that those gas station people click that tax free button when they cash you out and boom tax disappears, and they got 30 cents, but they do that all day long. Imagine how much they got at the end of the day! If they serve 1000 food stamp people, then they've gotten $300!! So yeah! They know it's money to be made. Not to mention if they send your info to their cousin in California or somewhere like that lady said then they've just gotten away with all her stamps. It's sad, and there should be a way to stop it!! I hope they all get their money back, and hope that I never meet the one who does me like that!!

Try changing your PIN number every time you shop for something see if that helps

I live in Texas. This happened to me this month from two different stores. E’s Corner Inc in Philadelphia and Between The Buns New York. A total of $1,000 now. We literally eating noodles over here now! They drained my account in two different transactions. Then when my replacement $ came they did it again before I even got my new card in the mail.

I have a grocery store and my local Walmart in my town that have taken action . They have super glued multiple small objects to their card scanners so skimmers cannot fit over the top of their card scanners. Fortunately they have the swipe readers so this can deter crooks. Unfortunately crooks are now using inserted skimmers there harder to detect.

Those same persons who marched to ‘defund’ the police and seen in those videos rummaging and stealing through retail stores and rioting are more than likely also responsible. Can also be an ‘inside job’ too. Some Store owners might be already aware and get a ‘cut’ of the thefts from the criminals. The scammers will never go to prison.

If your stamps have been stolen file the claim on hra website the same day!they'll replace it within 3 weeks.
I often wonder if this info is being gotten when people get these free phones they ask for medical, snap,and your ID. Also I've notice that some stores ask you if you want your receipt.

It may be time to limit up to $100 os so what can be purchased each day. They can get the Providers app and it tells you just minutes after you use it what store it was used in and the amount. Also you could report it lost or stolenand you will get another one sent to your home address. Banks now limit what amount of cash you can withdraw each day. It may be time that the government also limits a certain amount each day that can be used.

I usually only use mine on Amazon. I barely use the physical card. I had the same pin number forever that when I changed it I kept forgetting it
I just had to report my card compromised using Amazon last night $20 was used and I usually get a text message so I did get a text stating $20 was ppl pulled out I called Amazon and they said they don't see any pending transactions on there end so I called my card and they said it was compromised I said really? Why would they take only $20 they said you will be surprised sometimes they will steal a dollar just to see how many times they can do it w/o me noticing.Not a food stamp card mine is a NetSpend card.Now I have to wait 7 to 10 days to use my money for Christmas shopping and can't now bc it's already the 21st smh

Amazon is stealing your card information . Amazon is the only service that has your PIN number and your card number . Amazon stole my credit card information from my iPhone wallet and paid for monthly services they said I owe . Ask the people , I guarantee each person has their account on Amazon . Aside from that , no one cam use your card without the PIN number . It’s not a credit card .

My food stamps were stolen 10/24/23
They took all of my benefits I had on my card I had 738.67 on Christmas Eve 2022 I had got some food with it a few days before at Elkin NC Walmart and went to get our Christmas meal on Christmas Eve and all of it was gone.
We have 6 kids and it's now hard to feed them for the month they said give the local law enforcement

I live here in Queens and I was one of them that I was scam out of 567.4 cents on August 11th I also did police report I went to the 83rd Precinct from there I went to the 104 Precinct no help at all I didn't say hearing it didn't even last 5 minutes because it was over the phone it took me 22 phone calls to get to the floor Department I have been to the snap Center nine times I have it on my Facebook I am totally disgusted and extremely overwhelmed I am disabled and I am a taxpayer I hope everybody that went through the situation get their money back it is not right and it's not fair
Change your pin number after each use . I do it right after my purchase. There is card skimmers being used all over the country.
