Like the fixed end leaf spring mounting. Cut the frame off in front of the steering box, used angle iron to fab rectangle tubing to match existing frame size. 57 chevy pu front axle and springs. I worked at NAPA, I think the outer bearing for the car was different from the truck. Swapped the car stuff to the truck spindles, everything bolt on. Ran a piece of tubing to the right wheel cross steer. Worked great. Want that car back so bad. That was 1971. I was 20yrs old and fearless.
That good to know even if you're not planning on putting a straight axle on your own car. You can always pass the information on to your buddies. I just love to learn more stuff about all cars & trucks. Keep up the great work and God Bless you and your family.
That is a slick straight axle setup. With your welds that bad boy won't move ever. The whole front suspension looks killer and you just might need them spacers. Once everything is settled might need another inch of attitude. Quality presentation as always BW👍 Have a good one Buddy🇺🇸
I used the Speedway kit for my 57 Chevy gasser. I left the stock frame in place. Love your RUclips channel. I plan on starting one on my gasser build in the very near future. “Gasser Dave”. My first try, so I’ll let you know.. lol
I've heard of guys using the speedway kit on a standard frame. I will have to check it out. Thanks for the support. This is the first time I ever tried building a car too.
Thanks for the info nice job im about to that point on my gasser but have springs a couple of axles l have a great chassis giy but $$$ he does meticulous work have to see if you way is more cost effective
@@bwsgarage No maybe one day I will figure out how to do that. My car is in primer and paint ready all i have to do is spray it. But it is to hot right now I will have as much sweat on it as paint. shooting for next month.
Hey, thanks for checking out the video/channel. The brake lines on the frame package came with the kit from Nickeys. The custom lines ran throughout the car are custom made by a close friend of mine. We got the stainless lines and fittings off Amazon. ✌
I assume you are asking about the hinges for the tilt. I fabricated them and a machinist buddy made me a set of bronze bushings, bored a hole in the square stock and pressed them in. It rotates on a 5/8" shoulder bolt. Pretty sure you can find the video that shows it in detail in my videos.
Going to install this in a 57 ford. OMG there is something out there that is not the same old same old let’s build a Chevy gasser tri five on you tube , you could be made to believe that nothing can be done unless it’s a tri five car these days , but believe it or not there was a lot more built back in the day than just a tri five Chevy. Love your car project and it is looking Great But can’t wait to get my fairlane finished and give a old new flavor to the people at car shows. It’s harder to get build info but in the End the reward is great for being different than the same old same old. The other 57. Just sad that the bone head Biden and company will do all it can to make sure we never drive these cars on the road again, under the umbrella of global warming. Truly sad times we are witnessing.
I dig the old Fairlanes too, get hold of John Tinberg, great guy and he will hook you up. Also his ladder bars are awsome. Check out the videos I did on them. Good luck on your project
I love straight axels
Me too ✌️

I had a 55 straight axial gasser back in the early 80s
Cool video BW, sounds like you really did your homework on what kit to buy.

Yep, and I tell you this, John Tinberg didn't just sell me the part and vanish, he guided me through the process
Very good video BW, even the people out there that aren't watching the build are appreciating your detail to safety, that is really cool, my friend
Nice work awesome

Appreciate it Don, thank you
I really like the way it welds in. I've seen some sketchy, crappy, heat and beat welds on others. Nice job!
Thanks, I like the design too
I failed to mention, the motor mount bar holds either a Big Block Chevy or Small Block Chevy. Ours has the 468BBC 😀
Looking good man.

I looked up that frame kit. $5k wow that's some serious money I would have never thought it cost that much.
Sure does, I saved for a year to get it. One of the reasons the build is taking so long. Costs for good parts. Thanks for watching
Love it very solid car
Nice work.
Thanks, I appreciate it

My car sits about the same I did not want the head light in the sky. Looks nice.
Thank you. Do you have any videos of your car? Would love to see it.

Ha, I hear ya, I have sweat smudges all over mine right now.... its awful.
BTW nice job looks sweet
Nice work what size front wheels & tires.
I forget off top of my head, I'll check next time I am out in shop
Kit number 056 is on its way to my house.
You will love it. Very easy installing .
Awesome car! Watching videos cause I'm thinking my ratty 56 needs a stright axle. Hows it holding up?
Holding up great. Appreciate it.
Good work! Where are the brake lines available from? Thanks

The lines come in a coil that we measured cut and flared.
Great build! Are the welds mig’d or tig’d?
The frame kit was welded on with mig. Most of the body welds are also mig plug weld. I have some brackets and body panel work that I tig welded.
What steering box did you use?
It came with the kit.
I have a 55’ I would like to do this too, can I hire you to do the job? Thanks
Check your email Ryan
I’m ordering my nickeys clip this Monday!! Do you have any recommendations when installing this thing? Thanks, Ryan
Where did you get the dog house hinges?

Think he might have a kit for something weird say a 63 amc rambler
Give him a call, he might have the solution for you.
If you ever decide to sell I got cash waiting.
Gonna hold onto it but thanks 😊
Can you send me John's number? I'm working on a '52 Chevy Deluxe that I'm turning into a Gasser.
Shoot me an email and I will pass along info, jedclampet32@yahoo.com
man, for $4400.00 it better be easy to install, thats rediculus
Installed and rolling in 4 hours, if you can weld, and follow mechanical instruction its that fast. Proven and safe
nickey overpriced

@@bwsgarage thanks for info I will do that. Love those rims you installed.
