- Keep in mind I originally built this car for my neighbor the engine he put in it was a 327 that had sitting for a long time this was the first time starting it and such, so yea it ran like crap get over it !!! Since then we bought the car from him and are making all the necessary changes to make this car perfect. look for new videos coming soon including drag racing. UPDATE its coming life happens like falling off a ladder and breaking your back lol. So as soon as i can I will be finishing this car.
Great looking car. She sits just right. 55's make the best looking gassers; 57's look wrong without the front bumper to me. Glad to see you didn't cut out the rear wheel wells.
Beautiful double nickel
The '55 is still my favorite Chevy ever... This one is the way it's meant to be. Friends building it at home in their garage. Love it, love it, love it.. You guys did an awesome job. I was never exposed to radiation so you'll have to settle for two thumbs up...but I really want to give you 3!!!! :o)
Thank you sir
@@gasser55t thank you for sharing!!!!

That was a nice build. I kept waiting to see if you were going to radius the rear quarters.
Two-lane Blacktop, loved it.
So many builders radius the rear wheel wells for the bigger tires, it's nice to see one that leaves the real steel intact. I like them either way, but I know lots of people have a strong preference.
I like them both ways also
Very nice build. Kudos for keeping it accurate to the day but I gotta say the way they did the front ends on the old gassers is a little scary. Be safe & enjoy.
we got safer parts these days
I've been looking for a reasonably priced 55 for years to make a gasser and finally purchased a 55 gasser project no engine no trans. Can't wait for spring to get started. All the hard work is done just some body work and install the engine and transmission.
Beautiful straight axle
Very cool build, I own a Gasser myself and enjoy seeing other builds. Thanks for sharing.
Gassers rule
You guys did a great job building that 55, beautiful work. Like hearing the Wolfmans voice with the music. I still own & build hot rod's but that is my dream car, 55 Gasser !!
thank you
I can't imagine how stressed out I would be before and during the cutting off the perfectly good front frame section. I've owed 35 cars and trucks since 1976 and I don't know how I've never owned a 55 Chevy. Always loved em, but never owned one. Maybe the next hotrod will be one?
I love the straight axle. 55's are my favorite car of all time. Super video, but personally I couldn't take all the back firing. JMHO.
I get it
I had a 55 a lot like this when I was 16, back in 1976. I made $1.80 an hour part time. It has a 396 and a Muncie M21.
Now all I can afford to do is look at them. What happened?
this world has gone to hell
I have to say, what a beautiful job you guys did , the workmanship was outstanding. But I was under the impression that the "swing" hangers for the front axle went in the rear, and the stationary ones in the front. Just my thoughts.....GREAT JOB !
shackles can go front or rear doesn't matter, vehicle manufacturers have been doing them both ways for years.
real nice looking car !! really like those 55 gasser car
thanks
Perfect stance.. well done guys

Awesome video great workmanship great songs totally awesome badass ride great job
Sweet tri 5 love that tunnel ram
Dam,, brings me back,,Had a hardtop..This one is real nice, I know it was hard work, but it was all worth it..
thank you
pro tip : watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies these days.
@Armani Jamal Definitely, have been using Flixzone for months myself :D
55s RULE ! Brings back a lot of memories, thanks for sharing !
thanks
Sweeeet! My favorite gasser style ever...
I'm glad you like it
TIMRISNERTHY 5 , b

Great Quick Straight Axle Build, & Green Onions from American Graffiti As Start Out Sound Track, Quality Parts & Workmanship.. Some one Where When Does Nostalgia or Gasser Only Drags Occur? Any More..... & It's NOT Boring Video To A Small Scale Vehicle Customizer, bcz We Can't Afford to Do It For Ourselves But We Can Feel Each Step of the way in our Minds... Love the Tunnel Ram, Fenderwells & Charcoal Amercian Torque thrusts(or Are they Replica Copies?) Thanx

thanks so much I really tried to let the viewer feel that way. they are new american TT
Nice Car******April wine******Rock on Man.
Great job! Came out awesome! I'm hoping to build a gasser after my current project is done.
I have a 50Ford shoebox . worked on it a while. Just updated the engine . From 289 to a bigger ol school 390 hope.
took me back to " Two Lane Blacktop" but your '55 is much nicer for sure...
Nice 55! I got mine in 1980 from my Dad. He got it in the late 60's. It used to be a drag car. I has similar ladder bars like yours from the 60's. I'll subscribe to watch!
Nicely done 👍👍👍
thank you
......for not butchering the quarters
Great video man. Looks like a lot of memories created!
indeed there was..... even more now
The 327 is the best engine Chevy ever made. It's the only Chevy engine I really like.
"green onions" ---good choice
thank you
Nice 55'. It looks like you guys had a lot of fun building it. One thing I've always wondered, is there any real weight advantage with the straight axle front end?
I wish you had a before and after front end mod curb weight number on a car like this.
yes some weight is saved that stock cross member is a big turd- don't know how much
I like that u didn't cut the quarters great job
Well chosen soundtrack for a fine build!
Thank you
There's a wicked 55 Chevy looking for you
Memories of my high school 210 sedan..👍👍👍 "55" of course!
Nice checker cab
Double nickle my most favorite Chevrolet ever !
I see it's been a while since you posted this, but if your still around, can you tell me what did to get the rear end up that high? Did you move the springs to the top of the axle? Thanks!
all i ever dream of: building an american graffitti style beast in my suburban garage, taking it to town, cruise around, drive through a diner, burnin´apeshit at some traffic lights and let the good times roll...to bad that kind of thing is impossible in germany. neighbours here call the cops only after 5 seconds of v8 noise :-(
that's sucks come to the usa before we cant do it anymore also times are changing
GASSER!!! Nice work!
thank you
Wow - really cool! Front end could be a liiiitle bit wider, but that's just me.
It's been years since this was posted - any updates?
And is that a legit Motion Camaro? Sharp car either way
The straight axle came off on Old gasser and we plan on replacing it with a new one that is wider. And the Baldwin motion Camaro is not a real Baldwin.
Did you guys move the rear spring perches or anything to make the rear taller or did you leave it as it was shown in the beginning? We are building one too and love the stance you have. How wide of a rear tire did you use?
@@williamsherryflohr1861 moved the rear leafs under frame and tires are 10'' wide
What beautiful work !
Than you
Funny how when the taillight is removed its easy to see how the 56 evolved a little different. I like how cars just had little differences year to year . Tri 5's the 56 is my fav because of memories in my brothers car in 1970 _ 71 but 55 was the real gem of the 3 IMO.
That turned out really nice.
LOOKS GREAT IAM THE ONE THAT DID YOUR GLASS FOR YOU LOVE YOUR GASSER THANKS BRIAN
Thanks can't wait to finish the car and put the windows in.
My brother is doing the exact same thing. Only a 502 four speed . He is 68 and does not look like he will finish it after about ten years . On S.S. disability and 20,000 short. Has all new chrome . Needs to do interior and prep the exterior for paint . Starts it in the garage and the house shakes .
the backup lights work, i love it
thanks
Gassers are bad ass,
Your car is very cool, great music in your Video
thank you
Reminds me of the movie "Two Lane Blacktop" . (James Taylor & Dennis Wilson)
Thanks, love that movie
Sounds pretty tame
Love 💕 your 55! Fine job!!
nice build sad motor valves stickin'' stand back she's gonna blow....
Ive loved the tri 5s , but never got one. Was hung up on chevelles and others..
Sounds so sweet!
thanks
There's just something primal and pure about gassers :D
yep
Awesome video! Awesome build!
thanks
Very nice build! I see you're in the Valley... Whereabouts you based at? I'm building a Gasser style '64 Bug, will look similar to a "Hi-Boy" altered when finished... The body is chopped 4", laying out the frame right now, plan on running a smallblock Chevy w/ Tunnel ram and Sanderson Zoomies... I'm in Mesa...
Gilbert AZ hit me up some time
Hey melner, some guy in a mean 55 Chevy is looking for you watch out. Hahah
Great car.
Duel quad tunnel rams are very hard to get right, not ideal for street use, but they do look cool as hell.
C Smith he has a street tunnel ram on it they are a little higher then a race tunnel but on the street you want all that room on the other side of the carbs so when you get on it its there look it up street tunnels they are taller but raceing tunnels have bigger runners rather then longer
HOA hates you now haha. Great work guys..
Enjoyed.
good build and nice car but pretty anti climactic without a burnout or drag strip footage
it coming
Rev the damn thing to 8,500 rpm and pop the clutch - shift at 9,500 rpm or when the engine starts sounding good. You'll need a 10.000 rpm tach to check your progress. That's what we always did. The 283's bored out to 301 cu in love lots of rpm.
Beautiful!
What is the out side to outside demensions on front Rails You Installed. Is this a Strret or Drag Build. how thick are new front rails. Thanks Jack
THANKS FOR THE APRIL WINE HAVEN'T HEARD THEM IN YEARS
AWESOME build..
Do you have updates?
Cheers...
I got a 56 and plan to do the straight axle. Any advice is appreciated..
Awesome ❤❤❤
Saweet I have always liked the 55 & 56 Chevys more so than the 57's & Theres nothing better than an old school gasser !! lol . Keep her betwien the diches & off the wall . ROCK & ROLLIN LATER MAN
thanks
Sweet car. I'm in Phoenix too.
nice video..could you show in greater detail how you made the steering in your next video ?..I'd like to see how the steering box and pitman arm are used to connect to the tierod and axle..I'm building a gasser styled 40 Plymouth coupe and your video is one of the best I've seen yet...Thanks.
thanks so much hit me up and i can get better pics for you
Good choice April Wine High Roller.....Right on the mark
thanks i thought so
sweet gasser, and love the baldwin motion also, hey im turning my 1981 camaro into a straight front axle gasser, what do you think? ever seen one?

NICE
Looked like nice workmanship. Throw that Tunnel Ram in the garbage.
Fabulous
Sweet lookin car, but sounds a bit sickly. Im sure ya got it sorted by now. Any 1/4mile times for us...burnouts perhaps?
coming
I. Love. 55. Chevys
i would love to have a 55 gasser but my moms dad got killed in one and i would not want to do that to her...... nice car tho (i think you should take the chrome off the sides and round out the rear fenders) but hey its your car man ;D
I also have an original 55 ( owned additional 3 all custom)
Definitely some timing issues and carb adjustments to sort. But nice Gasser!
thanks
Not sure what is going on with the engine but it sure does a lot of popping even under load.
Very cool. Sounds like the valve lash is too tight.
thanks
Keep in mind I originally built this car for my neighbor the engine he put in it was a 327 that had sitting for a long time this was the first time starting it and such, so yea it ran like crap get over it !!!
Action at the end????????? I like the motor mounts you made. With all the backfireing I don't think it has the power to roast the tires. But I do like the car
now has blown big block
Nice welds!
thank you
Long live Ed "Big Daddy" Roth.
