  • In this video, I play through odd-metered bass riffs that are in 7/4 time as part of a series exploring the role of bass in math rock. Hopefully this brief tutorial is helpful in exploring the lilting rhythmic ideas in odd-meters often used in math, progressive, and psychadelic rock. I inlclude tabs in the bass lesson so that you may play along and practice playing in 7/4.

I already liked your videos - and then you just drop King Gizz there, very casually. My appreciation has skyrocketed through the roof.

0:45 very interesting, you're right, there is a lot of songs that have the "Down to earth" rythm when using odd time signatures, or maybe just don't vary to much or some songs use the time signature with a lot of repetition, is not a bad thing, i love songs that use this resource, but i also would love to hear more songs that flow in odd time signature with the same comodity like in 4/4, using syncopation, accents, silence, or use less repetitive melodic lines, great video!!!
