I think it’s because of the catalythic converter, which needs to be warm to function properly and it gets warm faster if you keep more exhaust gasses inside.
Hi Mat, if you put the gearbox in Neutral (handbrake on, for safety) you will be able to rev the cars more then 4k. I have my RS7 and Panamera and I have discovered this myself. All the best with the sound reving/exhausts tests.
They do this to warm up the cars in the exhaust system, it also shows a blue engine cold light on the dashboard! Happily you can code it out thru Carly for instance!

Probably engine vacuum actuated valves. Valves open when engine off (no engine vacuum). Cold start causes initial high engine vaccuum which closes the valves then lowers the engine vacuum during warm up (valves partially closes valves). Full throttle causes very low vacuum or boost fully opening valves. Manual switch can bypass engine vacuum opening the valves.
It depends on the ambient temperature and the fluid temperatures. The ecu will make the valve do different things depending on if the engine is cold or warm.
it'll create back pressure, not loads but a bit, enough to make the engine be under some load causing it to burn more fuel, warm engine but mainly cats and i suppose probably PPF's nowadays as well

No that’s not it at all. These valves are electronically controlled by the engine ECU
These are electronic valves. They’re controlled via the ECU. They stay closed or partially open on cold starts to heat the cats up quicker.
It depends on the ambient temperature and the fluid temperatures. The ecu will make the valve do different things depending on if the engine is cold or warm.

Maybe it's to warm the engine/ cat up quicker? My car shuts off half the exhaust system when it's cold for that exact reason
To make it warm as fast as possible. My 2012 BMW X1 does it for that reason
It’s shuts the valves to help warm the car up. They open up after hitting a certain temp mate.
Valves are probably fully open during cold start then close as soon as it's started.
i still love and want it though. absolutely beautiful looking thing.
It needs the back pressure during idle and because the exhaust system was designed for much higher flow
i dint know how tf did they manage to put a fake rear grill but put real exhaust
It keeps them closed to help warm the engine to running temp
At least it passes the Stick of Truth test…
That's if the valve is open.
Did you like the bmw you had or this Audi? What's beter to drive daily?
Most likely a vacume drive actuator. Takes a second to close the valve after startup
It is a vacuum actuated valve.
Also they didn’t fully “open” in the exact position like they were before the cold start. They sort of “half-opened”. Smh
Sounds sooooo good
They start open to make a nice start up sound, then close to warm up the cats quicker.👍
