One thing I would like to make very clear on the back up, I made the mistake of backing up the first page of my files because mine wasn't showing the full page of files and it only showed the first 10 files I didnt back up the second page of files. But because I bought A second EMMC and flashed the blank one instead of flashing my original one I had all my files all on the original still. I highly suggest getting a second EMMC because if for some reason you dont like the mainline or you screwed up the flash and setup you can just reinstall the original EMMC.
It really depends on what you are looking to do. Mainline Klipper allows more frequent updates, new features potentially. The Sovol fork isn't going to be as up to date, and may take longer to resolve any bug issues, etc. Another benefit to mainline klipper is the ability to modify more freely. An example would be upgrading your probe to a eddy coil. This is supported now on mainline, and is not support on the sovol fork. So overall it really just depends on what you are wanting to do with your printer.
Saludos desde españa. It is mandatory to use the "ST Link" I bought an EMMC and the eddy to update it but I didn't know about the ST link. Is it mandatory to use the ST Link?
The ST Link is what you use to communicate with your EMMC to flash your klipper firmware to. Without it, I'm not sure of a easy way to get your image/firmware on the EMMC chip.
No worries at all! The main benefit to upgrading to mainline klipper is expanded options. With the sovol fork you are stuck to whatever updates they choose to push out for it. With moving to mainline klipper you can utilize probes like the eddy coil. Or benefit from updates as they become available. In a lot of ways moving to mainline just opens the door to options to tinker, build and improve a printer that has a lot of potential. It's not a requirement by any means, but those would be the main reasons.
Very nice job. Can I use a USB extension cable on ST-Link V2 Emulator Downloader Programmer? Can't wait for the Eddie install video. I did like your video!
VM on my laptop, USB passthrough to connect to the ST-Link. Would have done on the laptop via windows but started everything on my Mac desktop for filming purposes. Either will work.
I'm not sure you could with the new OS, but still utilize a image based on intel processors. Not a permanent solution, I cycle through various operating systems. Pretty much everything really, from linux, freebst, mac, windows you name it! Thanks for watching and supporting my channel!
Different styles of printers, the SV08 is a coreXY, and the ender is a coreXZ - bed slinger. I have not used the V3 plus. But looking at specs 300x300x330 build volume really isn't to far off the 350x350 offered by the SV08. The V3 plus looks to be on sale right now, 359 us. I couldn't tell you which is better without testing both of them side by side. But the ender v3 plus is certainly a good price based on listed specifications and build volume!
@@ThePrintasaurus it would be my first printer so i just wanted it to work out of the box without much upgrades. I was excited about sv08 but i am seeing a lot of issues with it i am skeptical.
For your first printer I would recommend the A1, or A1 mini by Bambu lab. They are both on sale right now. Both are very good beginner printers, that offer excellent print quality. If you wanted to learn multicolor printing, you can bundle them with the AMS lite which offers 4 color printing. Build volume of the A1 is 250ish mm, so a little smaller than the 300mm. For the most part the majority of what you print starting out should be within that volume. What are you planning to print?
No problem at all! If you are planning to do functional parts, do you know what filaments you'd like to us? I wouldn't use PLA, PETG could work to an extent but I would consider ASA, ABS for stronger functional parts with UV resistance. If you are thinking ASA, or ABS - you would want to look for a printer that has an enclosure, and some filtration. ASA and ABS do give off toxic fumes. Just sharing some info, not sure how much research you have done so far!
Can’t wait for the BTT EDDY guide!
Hoping to have that shortly after thanksgiving. Working through some printed parts and fine tuning.
Many thanks with all your help in getting me onto Mainline Klipper.! Looking forward to watching many more of your videos.
Thank you! I’m glad you’re up and printing! Looking forward to hearing about what you print!
I highly advise buying a second eMMc for this. That way you have the original to go back to in case of issues.
Very good point. I'm going to adjust my description to add that recommendation.

Very good point, and adds some security in recovering quicker to a functioning printer. Thanks for sharing your inputs and watching.
What's the benefit of moving to the mainline Klipper? Is it's really worth the hassle?

Sorry if you mentioned this in the video and I missed it but why update to mainline?

Check out Nadir's mods for the sv08 over on printables.
He’s got some great mods, will be trying some soon, stay tuned!

I was going to suggest the same. USB-A male to female cables exist. Cheaper than a laptop 😏
That should work fine. Thank you for watching!
Yes way cheaper than a laptop. Good catch, I'll make note to mention that in any follow up videos for this one! Thanks for watching.
thanks for the help
how are you using macOS on an acer laptop

i am planning to print functional engineering parts. Primarily robotics stuff.
