Fantastic view. I used to live in Treales, and would go to the back of Warton airfield to watch BAC testing aircraft etc; and sometimes get a bonus as ships would come in to Preston Dock or sail out to some distant place.

That brings back memories. I used to watch the ships coming up the river to the dock when I was a lad? How often does this happen now? What's the light coloured smudge down the middle of the river? Pollution?

Peter Molyneux, Theres still boat traffic in and out of Preston docks due to the marina but sadly not many ships, River Trader has visited a few times now only to deliver large transformers, the smudge you see is just from the tide bringing in like a foam that forms on most tides

Me too! We used to go down the Naze in Freckleton and be amazed at the huge container ships that came down drawing all the water out then rushing back in as they passed. We also used to frequent the Manxman floating nightclub. Fun times and much less stressful!
