@@d3arb0rns it's available from the 2nd act, but if you play it after the original story it changes a bit, so it corresponds with major events, like taka's death etc.
I can’t recommend the base game enough. The DLC is well worth it, as well. Sucker Punch gave us lots of free upgrades along the way, and they earned my money. The DLC is a little more of the same, and I’m happy to support it. Needed? No. Wanted? Yes.
The most important update would be to have a custom slot where I can save and load my lists of customized outfits with a simple scroll wheels like we can in RDR2, instead of going through the menu and pick one by one EVERYTIME I want to change my outfit. Cause Jin's outfits could play a significant role on the outcome of the mission. And even if they don't, I simply like to dress for the occassion, but I want to do it quickly.
Are you kidding me? I’d even pay double for a masterpiece game like this. This game and red dead redemption 2 are the only games that I’d have no problems paying extra to experience that again
i love the sound of the swords clashing coming out of the dual sense. and when you play the flute, it feels like you are actually holding a playing flute. you feel the vibrations of each note played. so cool
The 3D audio, dual sense, and haptic features alone are worth the $10 for me. Honestly, I've had a hard time transitioning back to games that don't use the controller features ever since I've played Returnal. Hell Plagues Tale had some great use of it as well. It's insane how noticeable of a difference it makes for gameplay immersion to be honest. At least for me. I absolutely LOVE the vibration that moves in sync to the wind and matches the frequency and amplitude of the audio. If the wind goes from left to right, your controller does the same when vibrating lol. And if youre galloping and have wind at the same time, the controller combines both the gallop and wind vibrations incredibly well (vibrates with direction of wind while also adding the 'thunk' of the hooves). Then the tension built up in the Triggers while also vibrating with pulses when using the grappling hook to pull down debris....just absolutely love it! People maybe mad about the $10 upgrade for PS5 but let's be honest here: Ghost of Tsuhima mixed with Legends at release, then gave us NG+ with even MORE content to unlock, was $60. Then you have this DLC (that's got a fair amount of content to say the least) with the PS5 upgrade makes that total price $90. In reality, most publishers would have easily separated Legends into another package and even made some of the cosmetics into microtransactions. Yeah, not much to complain about here lol. I'm willing to support games of this caliber and quality even more.
Look I got the game on release, great game platinum the lot, but this will be my first paid ps5 upgrade and I do not agree with it, I invested at launch most games nowadays have plenty of content for less and free ps5 upgrade, No Man's sky, Control, Valhalla, so not going to hear plenty of content justifies charge, what it means is I have to pay extra for a game I've already completed, framerate and such should be a simple update like division 2 etc so haptic is the only feature left, and that frankly I can live without, dlc is well worth £15 no question here but charge for upgrade is a no no..
@@deathrabbitgames8343 Ghost already had a free 60 fps update though. However that's the thing about free upgrades in all tbose games mentioned, they are always lacking in features while Ghost's director cut makes better use of DualSense, 3D audio, and fast load times than most actual PS5 releases. Plus transitioning to full real time cutscenes and coming up with Japanese lip sync must have also took a fair amount of dev time. I am not bothered by the extra $10 as long as the game gets this much care and effort to perfect what was already a great experience. Especially considering devs have already given us free content like the Legends multiplayer mode.
@@BJgobbleDix no one feels entitled after spending $400-500+ for a console which was supposed to make those features available in the first place. I'll wait for the expansion to go on sale before making a purchase.
I just got GoT Director's cut for my PS5 last week. I am a diehard PC fanboy but my god if this isn't the most beautiful game I've ever played. Glad to see the amount of improvement and effort went into that, something I wish (my favorite people) fromsoft did more often. Also great review man. Very thorough and helped me appreciate the studio all the more. I had no idea I was getting a better experience with the Japanese Dub.
@@marco7838 I'm talking about the PS5 director's cut. That game is a true PS5 release, including things like detailed haptic feedback in adaptive triggers while you're playing. And the super fast menu navigation with haptic feedback, similar to Ratchet & Clank Rift apart. It also has the resolution increase, and the biggest addition is the Iki Island expansion.
@@marco7838 it's absolutely one of the best games of the last console generation, and the PS5 director's cut just improves on that. Personally I would rate it a 9.5 / 10
Dammit. Might have to get this/waste 30$ & I just beat the game. This is one of my favorite games of last gen if not my fav. The island alone & improvements are really worth it for this title.
Honestly, if they just charged everyone across the board the higher $30 upgrade, nobody would have complained, cause the Iki Island expansion alone is worth $30! It’s just the price disparity between the two console generations that pisses people off!
Im playing it right now, its so good! I just went and bought the PS5 disc and gave my PS4 copy to my neighbor he was super stoked cause he hasnt played the game yet
It’s probably a good thing I haven’t gotten this game for PS4. There’s enough improvements in the PS5 version to make me want to play that over the PS4 original any day.
Yep. Didn't play it on the ps4. First time playing it. Damn I'm happy i didn't play it last year. Easily a GOTY contender ones again. The PS5 version is silky smooooth , and the dualsense features. AWSOME 😍
20$ bucks if you already own the game Dude what you mean? I played this game before the game was officially out when it first came out last year. I have a video to show proof in my channel. As a guy who knew ghost since Paris game week 2017, I knew this game was the one for me after years of longing for a game to become my "soul" game. Said the same when saying about what music you like, or what food you loved the most.
I bought the game as soon as it came out on my PS4. I got the PS5 not long after I finished it. Now that it’s out, I bought the directors cut and it was definitely worth it. Very replay-able
@@marco7838 the directors cuts adds an entire side story and separate island to go along with it. It’s better played after playing and beating the main story. It’ll show up on your map half way through the game but like I said, better played after you beat the main game
This game quickly became one of my favs, beautifully rendered and excellent writing, combat and gameplay. I got a hard disk copy of the DC version for PS5-for 25 bucks at my local GameStop and I look forward to replaying with the upgrades and Iki Island expansion.

@@WolfieGirlSheena Not really. Other than the Japanese lip syncing there’s nothing other than a small resolution boost. No actual graphic enhancements which is very disappointing. Plus he literally said it’s a tough sell if you’ve played it already
@@addictedtogaming6938 The game looks great as it is. It didn't need a graphics boost. And 4k resolution, native or not, is significant when it runs at 60fps. Plus, the cutscenes are now in game and not pre-rendered. Perhaps you missed that part. Not to mention all the controller features as well like the new ruble, adaptive triggers and plus the 3D audio. Pretty sure PS4 has none of that. And lets not forget the faster load times. If you're gonna make an opinion, at least make it valid. Otherwise you come off as more of a douch hater. Just saying.
@@addictedtogaming6938 I would pay 100€ just for the haptics, triggers and 3D Tempest Audio. Do people seriously don't know that THOSE are the biggest selling point of PS5 and by far outmatch anything Xbox has ever done. Haptics now react to sound. It's not just rumble for feedback. Also i tried Back-Compat and PS5, and true 4K versus 1800p is a big deal, it also has higher quality textures compared to PS4. Mostly on Armors, NPCs and weapons. 10€ for such an upgrade is literally pocket change to whoever owns a PS5.
@@IgnemAeternum who said anything about Xbox? Xbox also has 3D audio BTW. The triggers have mostly been annoying to me, I don't really notice the haptics unless I deliberately pay attention to them, the slight resolution bump isn't worth it to me, and I don't play in Japanese. I'll be playing the PS4 version on my PS5
I have not played Ghost of Tsushima before but when the director cut announced I had to get it when it came out and it looks insane on an oled with a ps5.
The graphics and loading speed of 'Ghost of Tsushima - Director's Cut are much more advanced. Ghost of Tsushima - Director's Cut, like Sekiro, is the ultimate in melee and sword fighting action. The sword fighting wars on Iki Island showed what real fashion was. It's really fun. Especially pets are cute. The 'Assault' was also cool, like the Geumjama, the assault cavalry of the Goguryeo, and the Gaema Musa of Goguryeo, who charged on horseback and destroyed the enemy's military camp. And the enemies of Ghost of Tsushima - Director's Cut have become much more powerful. It's like Souls. Like Sekiro and Dark Souls, the difficulty has been increased. So it got even more fun.
i already play in hard mode... now i got the platinum trophy on Tsushima, and started Iki... and the enemies are now so dificult, simple combat with 2 or 3 can be the death.
The PS5 upgrade is absolutely worth the price. You get the resolution increase, the really well done haptic feedback, the new island, and the upgraded menu system that is insanely fast. Like as quick as Ratchet & Clank Rift apart. And the Japanese lip syncing
I'm still on the PS4! After the update, the first thing I noticed was the hard seem just a little bit more hard. And everything about the controller was smoother and faster. Now! I didn't think to take a screenshot at the time, (mainly because I didn't believe what I was seeing. And after trying to interact with it... still found it to be amazing) was a cat curled up on a rock at the hot springs (in Act one, because I decide to replay the game from scratch again after the updated) in two different places. Ha! Besides that thing look more sharp and clearer. And the pace of the game seem faster. I had to really be aware of my reaction time. I'm dam enjoying it. Anyone else seem and cats, or otherwise new?
"Watch me move across the island and load instantly" - Damn that advert really did load instantly. Must've had that one in the chamber. Seriously buzzing about the japanese lip sync though, was so upset when I couldn't play that in Kurosawa mode, just a shame there isn't any PS5's on the RRP market yet.
Two days a go i got a speeding ticket of €300, there's no point wondering if 30 eur is worth it, in the face of a weird cost like that. Ghost of Tsushima is a 10/10 game, remember that we got Legends a whole big mode free of charge initially!!
If Sucker Punch did a remaster of the original Tenchu franchise that would be incredible. Those games look dated at hell now 20 yrs later but they hold a really special place in a lot of gamers hearts.
So you’re saying that Sony’s $10 charge makes sense, but may not be worth getting for games you’ve played already on PS4, which makes this even more complicated since the DLC is actually new. This is why Death Stranding is doing it better, you’re getting both the new DLC and the upgrades together for $10.
Completely agree with this. Why not just package it altogether and just say it's $25 for both PS5 and PS4, split the difference as it were, and then Sony doesn't get shit from the likes of me who feels aggrieved that he spent a tenner for a minor visual enhancement plus a few bells and whistles. Sony pointing out that it's ripping off its new console owners is a horrible look, especially when Xbox has given a cast-iron guarantee this won't be happening on Series X-S.
@@davidmurphy7332 So far its only been for this game, to be fair. Their other crossgen games don't do this. I think it has more to do with the extra work they had to do to make Japanese lip sync right, since that's the only different variable between here and the other games. Still should've been just one price though like you said, just so it would've been a better look. It'll be interesting to see if Sony charges $10 extra for Horizon or GoW on PS5.
It’s amazing, I got a new OLED 4K tv that supports 120fps, HDR ect. As soon as I launch the game, I’m in and playing. Absolutely beautiful and immersive. Definitely worth the upgrade if you have a ps5. JUST DO IT!
I already beat the game on ps4 and loved every moment of it so I have no problem buying the new version for my ps5 just to have an excuse it play it again. (Even if it does cost $40 in Canada ooof 😩)
it was worth it for me. I had purchased the original base edition PS4 version but never played it further than the prolouge. I was playing other games at the time and was busy with work and just never got into it fully. So now I have a PS5 and for me the upgrade was worth it because Um basically playing thru the game for the 1st time. If I had already spent 20-50 hours on the game I might not pay to upgrade because I might not play it for another 20-50 hours just to do it all over again. But since its going to be all pretty much new to me its worth the jump
Is it worth it? Yes, but for me it was a bit peculiar how I had to pay a small amount as pre-order then I had to pay another small amount for PS5 upgrade. I just wished this was conveyed upfront during the pre-order. Other than that, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are good gimmick and graphics upgrade are not too obvious (unless you nitpick) but overall happy with the upgrade
Agree, the whole thing was too convoluted. They should have had ps4 upgrade at 20 and straight up ps5 at 30 instead of making you buy ps4 then add 10 after the official release date 🤦🤦🤦
I finally bought my PS5 9 day ago, and that´s the most beautiful game for the console I´ve been playing so far. I didn´t know it´s not 4K natively, but it´s ok for me, the game looks amazing; and de soundtrack, story, everything fits perfectly. I hope we can have great titles for the next two years at the platform. Thanks for the review.
I didn’t think this game was for me even though I’m into Japan culture but I finally decided to buy the PS5 DC game and I’ve been playing it for the last few days now. So far, I love it and I’ve played it nearly every day. Might try and get back to it today at some point.
Do you like Ghost of Tsushima? Yes? Did you like that Sucker Punch added free stuff without us asking for it? Yes? Thats more than enough for me to buy the upgrade
I never understood why people slam checkerboarding for resolution, even at 1800p checkerboarded and 60fps, Ghost of Tsushima has one of the cleanest, sharpest images I've ever seen in any game. I look forward to getting the upgrade to see it improved even further
@@marco7838 sorry I'm insanely late, but the Director's Cut includes the Iki Island expansion, upgrades the resolution to native 4k, and fully utilizes the PS5 SDKs so that loading times can be basically instant. So the main reason to get it will probably come down to whether you want the expansion
That would not be historically accurate. What I would love to see is more mythology. It was already in the game to some extent, so why not have an expansion / sequel where you fight the supernatural. Also fighting other samurai in a samurai clan war would be epic.
I’m sorry they all look equally great! I have it on PS4 and on my LG tv It looks just as good and fluent as PS5. I believe they are playing with customers intelligence. I believe your experience begins and ends with what TV you have.

This is the kind of directors cut I like. Not reinventing the wheel and changing any of the original version’s magic, just some minor quality of life changes that add up to a major improvement overall
Lip sync is nice for native speaker but for those reading subtitles, I don't think its that big a deal. You are not looking at the character talking anyway
Just got the platinum for the ps5 version after doing the ps4 version fully last year. Was pretty let down for $30. The Iki island was fun but no graphic update was worth the cost. It was gorgeous as it was on ps4. Save your money if you own this already.
I really don't think it's a tough sell. You're paying for the dlc and the upgrade. Seems fair and reasonable. Seems more like people are just being cheap and crappy. I feel like the studio really put a lot of work and heart and soul into this game, the expansion, and upgrade... Why not support them? Hell, I'm probably gonna buy it on the PS4 and PS5 and haven't even played this game in months
Remember when they said years back that game prices will grow and may be even $100 and everyone was crazy about it? You now have $70 game + $20 DLC + $10 upgrade = $100. And suddenly it's not a problem, because everyone say they want to pay... Let them pay.. If that works, more games on PS5 will get the same treatment and you will pay more and more..
Well the upgrade it’s for the old version of the game , and I agree, $70 it’s way too high , but I don’t buy games at launch day anymore (except for Nintendo titles but Walmart always has a $10 discount at launch day) , I just wait a few months and most of them are discounted already. I had to wait more than six months to play Ghost of Tsushima , and I bought it for half price lol , I’ll wait for few months to get this. I have a huge backlog anyways
I've PS4 slim and I'm getting this original edition for less price. I don't have any plans for playing this game in PS5. So, going for the original edition.👍🏼
@@runningbear6391 Because I was comparing the difference between them. Directors edition was ₹4K and Standard was ₹1.7K. There no such big difference between them except the graphics and Lil cut scenes.
I picked this game up a year ago on my ps4 thinking I would play for 10 mins and put it down bc new open worlds overwhelm me sometimes and I’ve never cared for samurai things really, hands down the best decision I ever made! Played it all in pretty much one sitting and got platinum (which doesn’t happen often😂), now ps5 is on the way and I cannot wait to play through this masterpiece yet again and get lost in such a beautiful amazing game! If you are unsure on this and think it might not be your thing, I beg you to at-least try bc boy was I wrong!!
I think it is the same with TLOU 1. If you already own it on PS3 the PS4 edition isnt gonna make the dofference. You could buy it on price drop when its in a sale somewhere. I didnt own ghost on the ps4 and I have to say it was worth the €74 for the ps5 version.
The cost has gone up £24.99 which is ridiculous for an upgrade and a steal from customers. They should really allow for a free upgrade for existing users or at least make it cheaper...
They should have done fade out/in for the scene instead of just a sudden black. That would have helped for a much smoother transition. Also they should have done performance at 1080p/1440p with a 120hz instead of 60. That would be silky smooth awesome
Originally got it on the PS4. Didn’t crack it open until I got a PS5. It’s an impressive game, to say the least. I stopped playing it when I heard of a “true” PS5 upgrade that was soon to come. I’ll pay 30 bucks but that’s only because of the expansion and the ability to transfer my previous saves. I wish Sucker Punch would of offered the upgrade for free like they did with Spider-Man but people need to make money and I understand that.
To be fair the only free upgrade with spiderman was upgrading the ps4 version of miles morales to ps5 version. The PS5 upgrade to Spiderman (the base game) was not free. And the only reason the ps5 version didn’t cost extra for the DLC was bc the DLC was originally created for both version no extra needed to be done, so to speak. You are right, these studios are companies not charities and they have to pay their people for their work & it is sad a vast majority of gamers don’t get that. Some have been very obnoxious about this directors cut pricing.
Considering the difficulty with getting a PS5, I don’t mind paying the $10 for the upgrades. Sucker Punch has done an excellent job updating the game and Legends mode was free… the $10 was easy to part with.
I just begin of the game but I really enjoyed , always interested me samurai life and now you can over to the time where people giving big respect each other.

Plenty to complain about just because you're submissive doesn't make it good business practices compared to the competition 😉
@@metallicafan416 guess I'm glad I'm not entitled thinking we get everything for free. Nothing wrong showing support when due.😉

@@marco7838 I'm talking about the PS5 director's cut. That game is a true PS5 release, including things like detailed haptic feedback in adaptive triggers while you're playing. @@addictedtogaming6938 The game looks great as it is. It didn't need a graphics boost. And 4k resolution, native or not, is significant when it runs at 60fps. even on just 4k tv it looks really good. Doesn't look good on a tv from 2010 1080p though
I’m glad I decided to wait for the PS5 version of this game!
I'm glad this came to PS+. Loving the game so far and am so amazed at how beautiful and carefully crafted the world is. Truly a work of art.
Fantastic review. Love that you reached out to Sucker Punch over something as small as a transition
"Watch me move across the island and load instantly"
- Damn that advert really did load instantly.
Wow..... A free online mode
If Sucker Punch did a remaster of the original Tenchu franchise that would be incredible. Those games look dated at hell now 20 yrs later but they hold a really special place in a lot of gamers hearts.
Playing the game for the first time with this edition and i have to say I’m glad I did
The sound coming out of the controller comes out even without the directors cut
Yeup. It's nonsense.
@@davidmurphy7332
So far its only been for this game, to be fair.

However Death Stranding add less
With the improvement especially to the combat I think it’s worth it

Is it worth it? Yes, but for me it was a bit peculiar how I had to pay a small amount as pre-order then I had to pay another small amount for PS5 upgrade. I just wished this was conveyed upfront during the pre-order. Other than that, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are good gimmick and graphics upgrade are not too obvious (unless you nitpick) but overall happy with the upgrade

Kena Bridge of spirits is just around the corner.
