There is no podcast I've personally found quite as much enjoyment from as this. It's turned me on to so many incredible and enriching movies, and has set me down a path of seeing other movies which have also been great. It's an awesome medium to hear these guys take on topics they wouldn't normally ever touch through the lens of esports.
This movie really does have one of the all time great movie soundtracks. Maybe the quintessential Wagnerian movie soundtrack. A beautiful art piece in its own right. It’s probably the main reason I was able to sit through this movie in college even with an internet riddled attention span.
I stopped watching to go check out hte chariot scene on youtube. HOLY. did not dissapoint. What an action scene, the Fury road chase scene of its time. Loved it, thanks for introducing this to me.
I would love to have a behind the scenes making of ben hur in existence. Have the actors and the stunt men talking about doing the movie as it was being filmed
"How about this, get Pilate to release the files! Quit washing your hands and release the files Pilate. Who else was on that grassy Golgotha that day? Oh yeah the three "Roman Peasants" with $100 sandals. Yeah right."
I've been waiting for this :D. My parents somehow thought my brother and I would be into this when we were teenagers but despite the length I actually remember enjoying it.
Crucifixion was probably the Roman equivalent of those highway billboards warning everyone who passed not to fuck with Rome or you can join them on the cross.
Currently watching the movie, and an hour in I don't know why I didn't watch it sooner! probably because my stupid brain thought old = not worth my time, glad to be wrong on this one :D
Would loved to have seen kingdom of heaven directors cut included in the list. "A kingdom of conscience or nothing at all" seems like it would be right up your guys' alley.
So many great movies in this genre. Im curious about the thought process of how the final 4 movies were chosen. I.e. Ben-Hurr or The Commandments? Troy or The Kingdom of Heaven?
Always thought when it comes to executions in the past the actual punishment was the pain you suffered until you died. Where in modern times the punishment is the loss of the rest of your life.
I think to truly work as the piece of art they were aiming for, I'd like to have seen a werewolf break somewhere in the final act. Bit of a slip up from the producers.
Loved the CGI rant at the end, almost always pulls me out of the experience immediately. Barely watch action movies anymore cuz of it, except for Nolan he uses it tastefully and only when needed.
Normally I can only ever tolerate the Doa & Monte show, but Ben Hur is so great I was reluctantly willing to stomach the insufferable, indecipherable babble of Booorin' Thoorin' just to hear the other two's opinions.
How many of you actually managed to watch this movie in one sitting? I had to watch this in like 4 sessions. The movie was fine but this made me realize how little attention span I have thanks to the conditioning of RUclips, Reddit and all the other modern content.

Oh thank god y'all are back, and with an absolute banger movie to boot. We all needed this today.

Our prayers have been answered. Four play has returned
Thanks fellas. Every time y’all drop a video it makes my day.
This movie really does have one of the all time great movie soundtracks. Maybe the quintessential Wagnerian movie soundtrack. A beautiful art piece in its own right. It’s probably the main reason I was able to sit through this movie in college even with an internet riddled attention span.
The editing in this video is insane
Jokes aside, the best show on LFN is BACK!
Glad you guys are back. I was beginning to fear you abandoned your flagship series.
BACK IN THE GAME
This is such a banger episode. So glad Richard is back from the major for some more 4 Play 😊
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on these films!!!!
Ben Hur was excellent! I’d always heard of it but never watched it.
Great category, love sword and sandal movies. eager to watch all episodes
The art for this arc is out of this world! Atantalas really out did themselves for this one. Hats off!
This content gets me through nightshifts. The amount of re listens I've done isn't healthy.
I stopped watching to go check out hte chariot scene on youtube. HOLY. did not dissapoint. What an action scene, the Fury road chase scene of its time. Loved it, thanks for introducing this to me.
So glad to have this show back!
We back
i saw this movie when i was sick in the beggining of 2024 and i was shocked on how good this movie is
I would love to have a behind the scenes making of ben hur in existence.

The greatest to ever do it.
I've been waiting for this :D. My parents somehow thought my brother and I would be into this when we were teenagers but despite the length I actually remember enjoying it.

omg yes I was just rewatching the old ones and saw no new uploads in this series for a few months, so happy you're back
Welcome back lads. Been looking forward to this arc
Ben-hur is definitely a move that would have benefit from a werewolf break
Oh wow that video cover of Richard is gold.
Awesome! Thank you
best update of 2025! I did watch that one in 1.5x speed tbh (the movie, not the lfn episode)
The Gladiator one is gona be fire
Crucifixion was probably the Roman equivalent of those highway billboards warning everyone who passed not to fuck with Rome or you can join them on the cross.
Hell yeah
Currently watching the movie, and an hour in I don't know why I didn't watch it sooner! probably because my stupid brain thought old = not worth my time, glad to be wrong on this one :D
Return of the kings
I think even Roger Ebert would agree with those takes
Let’s go 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This movie is nearly as long as your hiatus
Would loved to have seen kingdom of heaven directors cut included in the list. "A kingdom of conscience or nothing at all" seems like it would be right up your guys' alley.
Farewell an’ adieu to you fair Hispania ladies 🎶

A lepor break! 😂

If I was a mad rich Christian boomer I would 100% sponsor Thorins Bible stories and ads 46:14
When it comes to crucifixions , the romans seem to have picked them up from the Carthaginians, who crucified failing generals for instance
I'm not watching this movie, you can't make me.
Can we get the reupload for cure please? 🥺
might be worth catching that one on Spotify where its still up
I suppose….
@@eggiott thank you! It was a great episode
6/10, would be better with a werewolf break
How many of you actually managed to watch this movie in one sitting?
