Gary, you are the man! We all have problems with different things with the XPdeus or any other machine that we use. But we all have you just by going on RUclips to learn things that we would never think about. I use my machine to hunt for meteorites and you have to learn how to reprogram the machine to get the most out of it. Thanks again for all you do for all of us here in the states and over the big pond!
So is! I know some friends who sold their DEUS for the reasons you mention in this video. Too bad that happens. Now that I have DEUS I realize that in each field, or different terrain, it provides us with a lot of sound and visual (XY) information. With this, I consider that we must learn to "IDENTIFY" the objectives, and not so much use DEUS discrimination. Without enough information, I don't know what I'm doing, it's that simple. DEUS has all of that. Excellent demonstration of how to solve a ... configuration problem. DEUS was just asking to be accommodated a bit so they could do their job. The HOT is the program with a good identification platform thanks to the full tones. Thank you very much Gary for this "steps to follow" GUIDE. Best regards. Carlos Eduardo Sarmiento.
Thats brilliant Gary! You really help a lot on how to unlock deus capabilities. But most of all, you teach us on how to think and move when there are difficulties of this type. Priceless! Thank you!
Hi Gary, great video & some déjà vu to go with it. Approx 5/6 years ago, I had a permission; & in the corner section of a field there was a huge raised area which was pretty flat when you go to the top of it. When I swing numerous metal detectors over it, they would all sound off erratic giving false signals. I remember upgrading to the XP DEUS & trying your HOT Program (Which we manually inputted & saved back then) & it did make a huge difference, but still wasn’t quite right. I remember playing with the settings & adjusted the silencer to 4 & this worked a treat, I was finding tiny hammereds amongst whatever was in the ground. It was a pure fluke I cracked it if I’m honest. I was recording my finds from this raised area & even made treasure trove on it. (Small coin hoard) I got well in with this archaeologist, he’s retired now, he asked if he could come to the site with me. He ended up taking soil samples over a number of weeks (Doing all this in his own time) & one day he phoned me & said guess what? A blacksmith or blacksmiths once worked on the raised area, probably looking at Roman to mediaeval times. I thought this was an amazing bit of history. All them sparks hitting the ground for many many years made it so hard to detect. Anyway, I wanted to share this with you. Take care mate. ATB CMNW 🏴

Fantastic information Gary, only started Detecting a year ago and using/adjusting the silencer never crossed my mind, once back on my permission in September I will be hitting certain areas with silencer adjustments in mind.😎

All the years I have used the Deus and yes I totally forgot about silencer and this is only because I was scared of loosing some small hammered ect!! Good video and I will certainly give that ago if needed 👍
@@xpmetaldetector I tried it yesterday on the hot program. Reactivity 4, Sensitivity 96, Silencer 4. Cut out all the ground noise but little targets like .22 pistol bullets and casings sounded good. Had three Roman coins too. 👍

Great video. In the last 15 years I only found 1 gold ring and a few gilded items with the Xp Deus. What about a video showing comparising gold items, like medieval gold coins, celtic, roman, milled, pieces of gold, different carat rings, etc. How they sound like on the Deus HF round coil, target ID, XY screen. And maybe some targets that aren't gold, but close to ID number. That would be a great help. Maybe I havent been that lucky to walk over a gold item, lol. Gary, in the states there is a lot of debate with regards to the use of settings such as silencer and full tones with zero or negative discrimination. Many detectorists believe that silencer and full tones with zero (or negative) discrimination destabilizes TIDs in iron infested sites and can mask targets in iron. Can you shed any light on this? For me, I think that using full tones with some discrimination plus the use of the silencer might be ideal for coin hunting. The silencer works nicely for breaking up crown caps, and full tones makes certain non round high conductors such as aluminum sound “funky” when compared to coins. What do you think?
Destabalized TIDs in iron are just common for that type of hunting. Iron next to good targets will have an affect on the TIDs. For example: if you have a good target coming in on TID 5 and you throw a nail next to it the nail might drag it into the negative and you will get an iron signal. Thats why in iron loaded sites high frequency are being used. Faster signal sending into the ground and when using a high frequency the iron gets up lifted in the TID range as well so in example before the nail and good target may get dragged in the positive again (out of the iron rejection). Talking about this, will the normalized TID funcion affect separation as well? Caus frequency on my other detectors without normalized TIDs affects the TID falling into ferrous or non-ferrous range. hmmmm

Gary did you put the sphere in the video @ 4:49 ?? These spheres are up there 24-7 365 but this one looks like you guys put it there! Rich Lennie Ufologist U.K.
12:20 The coke comes thru about the size, not about the conductance. For Example a Regensburger Heller has about 50 in conductance, but is only max 1 gram and the size of a thumbnail. This between the iron with React 4 and Silencer 4 will not coming thru...
Hmm, i tried out React 4 and Silencer 4. Between iron this dont work for me, the goodies hide between the iron or beeing masked. Depth turn to nearly zero... With fulltones and open Disc i hear the high spikes too, but with only little practise i know what is ground and what is a real signal. Greetings from Bavaria!
I fell for the Manticore hype and have been very disappointed. In my opinion the manticore is an over complicated failure. I think we will soon see Manticores collecting dust in peoples closets. I am moving to XP2

Gary, in the states there is a lot of debate with regards to the use of settings such as silencer and full tones with zero or negative discrimination. The silencer works nicely for breaking up crown caps, and full tones makes certain non round high conductors such as aluminum sound “funky” when compared to coins. What do you think?
If you open the disc fully, you dont mask anything cause you let all come thru incl the ground. Masking starts with discrimination.
Destabalized TIDs in iron are just common for that type of hunting. Iron next to good targets will have an affect on the TIDs. For example: if you have a good target coming in on TID 5 and you throw a nail next to it the nail might drag it into the negative and you will get an iron signal.
