    At 0:35 you say it sells for twenty dollars a kilogram but it costs ten pounds a gram to consumers!! The middle man is making a lot of profit.

      @Saint FluffySnow Nope. Wrong. I recently paid five pounds for half a gram of saffron powder.

      @Saint FluffySnow Saffron comes from the crocus sativus or saffron crocus, and the flowers are purplish in color, and bloom late in autumn. Each flower has 3 yellow stigmas which are harvested to make saffron. About 16,000 flowers are needed to produce 1 kilogram of saffron. That is why saffron is one of the most expensive spices. Saffron are sold in grams! The flowers in this video are yellow - definitely not saffron. Safflower oil has medicinal value, and is also used as a dye. Safflower is often substituted for saffrons - safflower is the "poor man's" saffron.
