My triglycerides went from 976 to 400 in 3 months cutting out all sugar and processed foods. Mostly ketovore, lost 40 lbs so far in my 4th month. A1c down to prediabetesev. For years ate low fat and my health continued to deteriorate. Now I enjoy real butter and hwc which keep me satisfied . Feel 20 yrs younger and still working on my health with zero cravings or desire for my previous way of eating
Dr. Eric Westman is the one reason I continue to wonder if I can make a ketogenic diet work for me, and try it again now and then. He says what he KNOWS, as a science-based doctor, not what he assumes or what other people "know." Thank you for this. 💚
My doc did that for me. I flipped out when I got my cholesterol numbers last time and my total number was sky high and LDL up. He put my numbers into that calculator and my risk was so low it didn’t even register a number. So that is a good tool to use in helping folks deal with results that seem scary.
New follower and really liking the simple, fact-based information. Been following several others (keto and IF folks) and with the contradictions between most of them I started becoming more confused as time went on. Sticking with this channel.
Me: 41 year old, Male, 6’-2”, 195 lbs, “Ketovore” for over 2 years now, lost about 60 lbs or more, Smoker. Below are my recent #’s. Total Cholesterol: 289 Triglycerides: 121 HDL: 57 LDL: 207.8 CAC Scan score: 0 (zero) Doctor wants me on a Statin. I said no thanks.
K Baz No she’s thrilled about it🤨. Not the point of my comment or admitting that I’m a life-long smoker. Point is, my CAC score is zero while all I eat is meat & cheese for over two years and I’ve happen to smoke since I was 15 yrs of age. I also quit drinking in my late 20’s now that I think about it. Probably helps.
Been doing iketo since 2014 amd lost 40 lbs, my blood markers were perfect, amd went from high blood pressure to a perfect pressure. I also won 8 medals in open racquetball tournaments 😆
“Your TG:HDL ratio is calculated on a fasting lipid profile. A calculator is here: Simply take the Triglyceride and divide by the HDL; the closer to one, the better. For example: TG = 120 mg/dL and HDL=40 mg/dL. 120 / 40 = 3.0, and indicates an elevated risk of heart attack and stroke. In fact, at 3:1 the likelihood of a heart attach goes way up! Low TG:HDL is desirable. As long as the TG is not below 40, your ratio can be below 1:1, as it is in many well-trained and properly nourished athletes, for example a TG of 50 mg/dL and HDL of 80 mg/dL provides a low TG:HDL ratio of 0.6.”
I am interested in more information about LCHF for individuals with current afib who have had an ablation...and have a monitoring device installed in the chest.
how much carbs.did it take to do that. I did strict keto for a year to lower my blood sugar which was getting high because of all the carbs starch and sugars I ate. All the weight was on my stomach mid section and chest. I lost 35 pounds 6" off my waist my blood pressure went back to normal And my acid reflux disappeared almost over night. I still stay away from starch and sugar but I've introduced sourdough bread that I make back into my diet. Not a lot just a slice here or there. My biggest problem was insulin resistance which took almost 2 years to go back to normal. For me a high carb day is 50 to 75. And my body can handle that very well now. I don't know how I feel if I ate 200 to 300 carbs in one sitting. My blood sugar would probably be spiked for most of the day-and-night trying to burn up that much energy. Which I imagine would make me feel like crap.
Depends on the carb. You might be intestinal sensitive to nightshades, corn and/or lectins and oxalates. I can handle Japanese sweet potato, but not the usual orange ones. All potato, except kipflers, make my intestines feel like sandpaper.
@@jacquelinebernalmueller3673 Really. I hadn't eaten cake in almost 2 years and 2 months ago for my son's birthday I had 2 slices. I didn't have my blood meter with me but I checked when I got home 3 hours later. 71... My body hadn't seen that much sugar for so long it just pumped in a bunch of insulin. Which is exactly what it should be doing. Diabetes runs On both sides of my family. At 66 I was almost there. At 68 my body's working again. Love keto....

What is a good ratio of triglyceride by hdl?

Yoooooo why so many damn commercials
Can you please explain why restraining from starchy carbs for a long time and having a serving will make you feel terrible the next day?
When you put the wrong oil in your car, its doesnt work well. We are supposed to run on fat. Studying simple anatomy really shows how the body works.

Eat all carbs and we know the unhealthy results. Since not all people are unhealthy, fat by default must be healthy.
