Love to hear someone recognize Roger's background vocals/high harmonies. While Freddie Mercury's talent and presence cast an overwhelming shadow, Roger is a helluva singer and songwriter in his own right, as well as a great drummer. Brian May, the lead guitarist, ain't no slouch as an all-around musical talent himself (in addition to having a PhD in astrophysics).
Yes! almost all the other reactions gloss over it or miss it entirely and it always makes me sad. I think someone who's never had any Queen background before, like this guy, are the ones more likely to notice. Everyone else is obsessed with Freddie and too focused on him. (I mean, I can't blame them.)
GladiatorKnightGhost Yes, I agree, Glad. Nothing can shadow the towering genius of Freddie but he, indeed all of them, knew how much each individual’s brilliance was further enhanced by the amazing talents of the others. As they so often said themselves, the whole Queen was greater than the sum of its parts. I think it was Elton John who said, after Freddie died, that remaining Queen was like having a Ferrari in the garage with no one to drive it. Personally, I think their earlier albums are richer for the inclusion of songs with Brian and Roger’s lead vocals, because they both had such great but utterly different voices.
Hanny Hawkins I've heard it said that Brian May had/has the voice of an angel, Roger Taylor had/had the voice of a rockstar, and Freddie Mercury had the voice of a God. Pretty apt description. In addition, taking into account both Roger's vocal and drumming styles, and considering his reputation as the band's resident party boy and chick magnet, he must have had the stamina of a decathlete!
Brian Coffey What a great summary! Spot on. I will steal that, thank you. Hahahaha, maybe all that drumming kept him fit. But what’s a rock star to do? I’m old. Old enough to recall early teenage me thinking i’d never seen anything as beautiful as Sheer Heart Attack Rog. Until A Day at the Races Rog. 😍 I’m not sure I’ve seen anything more beautiful in all the years since, tbh. Even so, it was his voice that really made me swoon. (Fans self furiously while searching RUclips for I Wanna Testify, the best of both) (Later: Phew! That was a mistake. It’s gonna take me hours to recover. Maybe I’ll just play it again a couple times)
Queen was a 4 member rock band. Freddie Mercury - Vocals, Piano Brian May - Guitar, backing vocals Roger Taylor - Drums, backing vocals John Deacon - Bass Guitar They've made songs that you have definitely heard: We Are The Champions, Another One Bites the Dust, Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't Stop Me Now, You're My Best Friend, We Will Rock You, I Want to Break Free. Freddie is known as one of, if not THE GREATEST, rock singer/frontman ever. All of the band have wrote Number 1 hits, and the drummer and guitarist have done lead vocals on at least 1 song per album. Another performance of their's to check out is Live Aid 1985. It's known to be the best live performance ever. Freddie died of AIDS in 1991. He was 45 years old.
true! nothing to add, but ... freddie played guitar as well. not good, but he did (for ex. "crazy little thing called love"). but hower ... most epic band on the planet! :)
No audio tracks, no synthesizers, no auto tune. Just pure, unadulterated talent! Yes - 4 members! You can read about them in the comments below! Def do more Queen- they will all make you happy and have you rocking out like this one did!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This what happens when artists can actually sing without autotune & have real legendary talent..their music & songs last forever..NO one around today can come close to this!
Quite possibly one of the greatest live performances of any song I’ve ever seen, Freddie’s vocals, the timing, guitar and drums and Roger singing at the same time, amazing performance from a legendary band
I can't recommend this journey enough. I was lucky enough to be alive when Queen were in their stride, and on the radio and MTV a lot while I was growing up, so a lot of their music is permanently ingrained in my musical memory. I'm a little envious of people who can hear them with brand new ears because every song seems to have a new musical jewel to discover. On the other hand, the songs still hold up today after hearing them so many times. I still get a thrill from them. Absolutely keep going through their catalog.
Don't go too deep down the rabbit hole, though --- there is some really dark stuff about Freddie that the movie didn't expose --- the dude was into hedonistic fun !!
When you suddenly realised how much the drummer ( Roger Taylor ) helped with the backing vocals I immediately thought " wait til he hears him at the end !!"
QUEEN, is a 70s rock band consisting of FREDDIE MERCURY - lead singer, BRIAN MAY - Lead guitat, ROGER TAYLOY - Drums AAand JOHN DEACON -Bass Guitar. All the band members can sing and sing well. QUEEN is one of the best rock bands that ever performed. PLEASE do more QUEEN
“The drummer” is Roger Taylor and he provides some very iconic backing vocals in a lot of Queen songs. Live he had a great raspy voice and in studio tracks he hit amazing high notes. Those high notes in Bohemian Rhapsody and Somebody to Love (studio track) is not Freddie it’s Roger. He’s considered one of the greatest backing vocalists and singing drummers in rock. It would be great if you reacted to “I’m in love with my Car” live at Montreal 1981 where he sings the lead vocals. Brian May, the rhythm guitar player also provides the deeper backing vocals as well as some great lead vocals in some songs such as ‘39 (one of my all time favorite queen songs). If you do not react to these you should at least check them out bc they’re amazing songs
Queen are arguably the single greatest rock band in the history of recorded music. How can you not know them? You've likely sung their songs and not known you were singing a Queen song. Enjoy! Please react to more of them.
I just laugh and laugh when I hear a Millenial talk about 80's music with Auto-Tune and backing tracks LOL --- that shit didnt exist back then --- you actually had to have talent to make it back then
You must realize that the younger generations don’t know how music was produced back then. We had what we had if you were lucky you had a John D. in the band. John was able to help the band greatly. Roger, John and Brian were the wall of sound for Freddie. John tweaked certain things for better sound etc.... These 4 guys were very smart!!! I remember when tapes were the size of a book. You inserted the big tape into this box🥰 That was amazing but I liked my records. The answering machine was so awesome people left messages🤣 Back in the day a friend reached you when you came home. So let’s all welcome younger generations to learn about our past. These kids can run circles around me on a computer or cell phone and tablets. ✌🏻 Love & Rock N Roll 🎸 🎤 🥁
Oh boy. Your first Queen was this? Excellent life decision. The lead singer in the white superman tank: Freddie Mercury (sadly rocking out the concerts in the next world now) The drummer: Roger Taylor (still touring!) The tall guy with the curly hair on electric guitar: Dr Brian May (still touring!) The guy in blue playing bass guitar: John Deacon (retired) The running joke is that Queen were a highly overqualified band: Freddie had a degree in art/fashion, Roger had a BSc in Biology, John had his degree in electrical engineering, and Brian has his PhD in astrophysics! They could all sing. Freddie's voice is renowned as being incredibly special. The raspy voice you hear from Roger is actually the lower part of his range; Roger's falsetto was higher than Freddie's and he hit some of Queen's most iconic notes. Brian is also a very good singer and sang lead vocals occasionally. John reportedly did not like the sound of his own voice compared to the other three and never sang on their recordings, and rarely live; he did backing vocals with his mic turned down, with the notable exception of "Liar" in their early concerts (you'd have to look for things like the Rainbow 1974 or Odeon 1975). All four of them were incredible songwriters and each produced at least one or more Top 10 hits, a feat not accomplished by any other band. If you want to hear more of the drummer, "I'm In Love With My Car" from Montreal 81 has Roger on lead vocals, though it doesn't really showcase his range. '39 (the studio recording) was sung by Brian on lead vocals and Roger's falsetto wail gets a run in the middle. Most of them played several instruments; later in this concert, for Save Me, Brian actually plays the piano for the first part, and then switches with Freddie when the guitar comes in, and Freddie takes up a guitar for Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Oh, and one more thing. That unassuming quiet guy in blue? He wrote some of the most famous bass riffs of all time. If you know that rotten Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby", the bass riff on that is STOLEN from Queen. John wrote it for their song with David Bowie, Under Pressure.
Great potted history. thamks👏👏👏. Small correction: all four wrote number one hits, not just top ten. That’s why they’re the only band whose all four members are in the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.
Freddie Mercury is known as the greatest rock singer of ALL TIME. He has a 4 octave range, his vibrato is TO DIE FOR, and he's so emotional with his singing. LOVE Queen!!
Danelle Covey Five octaves? As incredible as that would be, F2-F6 (~3.7 octaves) is the generally accepted range of his voice. However, his range wasn’t what made his voice so special in the first place.
Mariah Carey is the only confirmed 5-octave singer in human history --- rumors say that Freddie could definitely hit 4 octaves but dubious on 5 octaves
I’ve seen this with a lot of Queen reaction videos-the person reacting says “Hey, I think I’ve heard this before!” And they discover that Queen has seeped so strongly into popular culture that everyone recognizes their songs when they hear them.
For that film concert in MtL they came two nights with full film crews.I was there for both concerts,i saw them six times in my life... The second nights i learn by a friend in the music industry that they'd go hang out after the show at La Nuit Magique club in old Montreal,i am a record producer and guitar player,so i went and had the pleasure and honour to speak to Sir Brian May for 30 minutes,,he's the most lovely humble peaceful men you can imagine.!!! I had millions of questions for him, lol, and he was so gracious to answer me and explain all is guitar rig and specifics about recordings on songs. Still vivid to this day as one of the best moment in my life. Remember that there was no internet back then,so imagine learning all this from my hero in person.!!! So happy that the new generation is discovering Queen.! Kind regards to alls, peace on earth.!
Audiotracks weren't used ever in live shows. People with true God given talents have no need for it. Every one of Queen's band members each wrote #1 songs and three of the four are incredible singers.
HE,is one and only FREDDIE MERCURY,the best vocal and frontman in rock history, the drummer is ROGER TAYLOR,the God of drumms and outstanding singer. On bass is JOHN DEACON,he wrote the two of the most populare bass lines(Another One Bites The Dust&Under Pressure),and on guitar,BRIAN MAY,he wrote Show must go one and Mother love.Listen to that songs and you will know what am I talking about...QUEEN is magic journey and you must try it...belive me,you will not be sorry..
As strongly in the major key this song is, it tells quite the tale. Lyrics ranging from “each morning I get up I die a little” to “everyone wants to put me down” portray Freddie as damaged, depressed and ultimately longing for love as a means of leaving his sorrows. The song hit number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, and is the sixth track on A Day at the Races, Queen’s fifth album. Following the acclaimed read more » What have the artists said about the song? ‘Somebody To Love’ is Aretha Franklin-influenced. Freddie’s very much into that. We tried to keep the track in a loose, gospel-type feel. I think it’s the loosest track we’ve ever done." -Roger Taylor
Brian May built his guitar with his dad as a young teen using scraps found around the house - part of a fireplace, a table, etc. It's called 'The Red Special.' They couldn't afford to buy one. He still uses this guitar today. As mentioned, he and Roger (drummer) are still touring today to sold out venues.
Awww...you've been bitten by the Queen bug.....can't wait for you to discover the depth and breath of Queen. As others have stated, there are many songs you probably know just didn't know they were all by Queen. Many have been sampled and cover by others also. Enjoy the journey and we will enjoy watching discover these guys amazing talent.
The only time they ever use a backing track is in the middle of Bohemian Rhapsody because they cannot recreate that part of the song live - they leave the stage during that part because they will not mime! Everything else is 100% live.
very pleasant to see your smile looking and hearing to Queen !!! Freddie the singer, Brian at the guitar, Roger drummer and John the bass. They all are talented. Welcome to Freddie universe. See more and continue to give us your reactions.... You can also go back to the 70s with Liar......
Queen is an experience. It's a journey you MUST go on. I have yet to meet or even hear of someone who has heard Queen and who does not rank them in their top 5 groups. For me personally, they have been no 1 since the 70's. Nothing I have heard since compares. No band has churned out such consistent quality. You will not regret this journey. And best of all, the range of genres they cover will leave you speechless and the hits...well...you are in for some stunning surprises. Give Freddie Mercury (the lead singer) and Montserrat Caballe's Barcelona a whirl. It is excellent!
there's probably a few other songs that u know of their's like "we are the champions", "we will rock you", "don't stop me now" (because it's been in a lot of commercials recently), and "another one bites the dust". And not to mention possibly one of the best songs ever composed "Bohemian Rhapsody". I would recommend checking any of those out! they have a lot of classics that people have heard but just don't know who it's by. The band consists of John Deacon (bassist), Brian May (lead guitar), Roger Taylor (drums), and Freddie Mercury (lead vocals). Freddie Mercury has a four octave vocal range and is considered one of the best, if not the best, rock vocalist ever. His voice and stage presence both create this icon that can not and never will be touched. He was truly a genius! The band is from England and was together from the 70's up until Freddie passed away in 1991 due to an AIDS related illness. He was the first celebrity that the world loss from AIDS. Some other really cool facts is that they all went to college and Freddie had an art degree and actually designed the band's emblem/crest/logo thing which is super cool and intricate, John Deacon studied electrical engineering, Roger was going to be a dentist, and Brian has a phd in astrophysics which I find insane! The guitar that he plays most of the time he made with his dad when he was younger! so ya there's just some facts about them.
I was at the supermarket about a month ago and the radio was playing We will Rock You when this woman pushes her buggy toward me with her little boy standing up in it with his first in the air singing along. It filled me with genuine hope for the future
"Audio track"?!? You must be trippin', young man. This is a four-piece band doing their thing totally well-rehearsed, totally live, totally in-sync. Imagine that...!!! :-)
this is arguably the greatest rockband of all time. you know a lot of queen-songs without actually knowing it is them. here´s a few: *we will rock you *we are the champions *don´t stop me now *another one bites the dust *under pressure and actually many more. your queen-journey should start this way: 1) bohemian rhapsody official video (750 million views, probably greatest rocksong of all time) 2) somebody to love official 3) live at live-aid wembley 1985 4) innunendo ... then many many more
@@franvjscisjw1793 well, the beatles are the most important and most influential musicians in popculture ever, but would you really call them a rockband? for me, the best rockbands of all time are pink floyd, led zeppelin and queen.
Roger has a rapsy voice, soooo interesting. It merges wonderfully with the great voice of Freddie and the gentle voice of Brian. John didn't use to sing, but you can hear his voice in some choir. Great band, great singers, great instruments players, great song writers (each of them), magnificent when they performed live.
Great reaction my dude. I love seeing people SMILE SO MUCH and really get into it when they see this video for the first time. Watch out, Queen fans are gonna be coming for you with song requests to further blow your mind 😅
Freddie Mercury is considered the best singer of all time. Sadly he died in 1991(AIDS) Check out Queen's Live Aid 20 min set. There's so much to discover for you when it comes to them. You are in for a treat!
Nice reaction! There’s nothing like seeing someone laugh with pure joy at this epic performance. Yes, three great singers in this band. Watch the studio version of this song to see all three doing incredible harmonies. Freddie is unrivalled, of course, but both Roger and Brian had lead-singer chops in their own right. Both sang lead in many early Queen songs. Lead guitarist Brian’s ‘39 (the studio version) is glorious. Brighton Rock and Sleeping in the Streets are two more. Drummer Roger’s Fight from the Inside, (a slapdown of punk music), Modern Times RocknRoll, Tenement Funster and I’m in Love With My Car are just a sample of his fantastic gravelly rocknroll voice. You’ll also recognise Roger’s incredible high harmonies in many Queen songs, one of the things that gave Queen it’s distinctive sound. Bass player John Deacon doesn’t sing but his imaginative, lyrical bass lines are Queen’s secret weapon. Rolling Stone rightly named him No 3 on the best bass players of all time. Also NEVER stop the playback until it ends: you’ll miss some epic endings.
Delighted you recognized Roger too !! Also an amazing singer ! Queen are a brilliant band, been listening to them all my life ! Love watching reactions 😂👍
Brain May is an amazingly talented on the guitar!! Also Freddie is well known for drinks a top his piano. Not too mention his ability to get a crowd in the palm of his hand & then have them all simultaneously sing, stomp, clap or even singing the notes Freddie would sing 1st. An amazing voice. Like no other! His range was crazy!
Queen was my first concert...The Forum in LA, 1982...I was 14. No concert has ever compared. When Freddie was asked what instrument did he play best, he answered “the audience.” And he did. You felt like he knew you were there and he invited you up on stage with him. It was awesome and a high point of my teen years. I recently found footage of that concert and found myself in the audience. I was a California girl so I had beach blonde hair and a shiny gold metallic blouse and white pants...can’t miss me😊 Micheal Jackson was there to see the show that night as well. You mentioned loving the guitar? Brian and his dad made the guitars he played by hand. All of these guys were in college when the band formed...very smart guys with impressive degrees. Freddie was in school for art and he designed and painted the Crest that was Queens logo. Very talented men and all around nice guys. Miss Freddie!
I think Freddie would love to know he has a whole new generation of fans. It truly makes me emotional to see the younger guys like yourself, appreciating Queen's awesome talents. Thank you for sharing your reactions to them.
Freddie was a classically trained opera singer, you can hear him when he sings with Monserrat cabballe when they sing Barcelona. Welcome to the music I grew up with.
Queen was comprised of lead singer Freddie Mercury (birth name Farokkh Bulsara, of Parsi Indian descent) , Brian May (lead guitar), John Deacon (bass), and Roger Taylor (drums). Extreme talent. Sadly, Freddie died of AIDS in 1991. He was imo the greatest rock performer and vocalist ever. The other band members were no slouches either, very smart guys -- Roger was studying dentistry, John studied electrical engineering, and Brian has a Ph.D in astrophysics. And yes, they can all sing except for John, LOL. if you want to hear more of Roger, check out "I'm in Love with My Car", it's his song and he sings lead on that.
I've been into Queen since 1970's and am jealous that you're just starting on your Queen journey - so much variety and quality to experience. I'd love to be discovering a new group with that much talent at this stage in my life.
All of the band members have amazing vocals. Amazing harmony from all of them make them what are the greatest rock bands ever. The lead singer, Freddy, Also sang Opera.
4:13 that smooth, graspy voice your hearing is Roger Taylor (the drummer). If you watch it completely to the end, you can hear his vocals really well. 🖤
This is classic bro. Classic. This is one of the greatest band and the greatest singer of all time. We never gonna see another Freddie again unfortunately but he left all of this for us.
Freddie Mercury is from Zanzibar and moved to England for school. Met the other band members and formed Queen. He had a four octave vocal range. He was a stellar musician and showman. Flamboyant and overcharged with energy. He was a kind soul and just wanted to make his parents proud, make great music, and live life large! He was quirky but also - FLAT OUT - the finest vocalist ever created and he ran out of star 🌟 fuel and died too soon.
How have you lived this long and not heard or know anything about Queen?! They are one of the greatest bands ever. They are iconic legends. You really need to check out their work.
Paul McInerney the only time they would was the middle part of bohemian rhapsody because they couldn’t recreate it live and they would leave the stage at this time so they wouldn’t mime.
Thank you my bruh for your reaction! Hopefully you discover more Queen songs because they really had the best singer and frontman ever and an unique sound. So creative, so different but so cool!
More queen live Performances please Freddie Mercury was the greatest voice in music History. I recommend queen live aid Performance it's 21 min. Long it's considered the best live concert also please react to queen the show must go on it's my favorite song . Freddie was already really ill but continued with the music just no concerts. His voice is out of this world in this one
All four members of Queen wrote big hits for the group. Freddie Mercury (maybe the greatest voice in rock history) is the lead singer but drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May also handled lead vocals every once in a while and they provided backing vocals. Bass player John Deacon wrote some big songs too like the #1 hit "Another One Bites the Dust." I'm sure you know many Queen songs: "We Will Rock You", "We Are the Champions", "Another One Bites the Dust", "You're My Best Friend" and of course "Bohemian Rhapsody." And they just did the big theatrical film about Queen called Bohemian Rhapsody.
Freddie Mercury, the singer and piano man with a record range in singing Dr Brian May, the curly haired guitar player, has a doctorate in Astrophysics Roger Taylor, the drummer, who has amazing vocals that are mostly recognizable as the high note “Galileo” in there famous song “bohemian rhapsody” John Deacon, disco deaky, the most underrated bass player ever, wrote the bass riff in “under presser” sadly was stolen for the song “ice ice baby”
Freddie was the God of music and vocal Goddity if there is a word meshed together with one of the greatest guitarists, drummers and bassists to ever walk this earth, they all had written no 1 songs in the charts and they totally stole Live Aid, what more can be said, well a lot actually..... And he rode on Darth Vaders back
The immortal Freddie Mercury and Queen. Check out Freddies solo work. A voice never duplicated, but often replicated. Fans new and old still celebrate his birthday in Montreux, Switzerland where a life size statue is erected on the shore of Lake Geneve.
There isn't any audio track, and there wasn't any auto tune. What you're hearing is what they performed that night. One of the really great bands to see live because they brought it to you everytime. Freddie Mercury for all his swag onstage was really insecure and, to me he was one of the greatest front men ever. They all had good voices and I consider Freddie's voice one of the greatest singers ever. He had power and control, I'm an old man (73) now but a music lover and like most genre from Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday to R and B Disco and even Rap. Someone to check out is Donna Summer singing "Last Dance" try and find a Live Version. She was one of the Diva's of the Disco era and I think a talent that was underrated by many.
Watch the movie Bohemian rhapsody. Its a movie about them and it’s in theaters. If not watch the trailer. If you want to know a little the main singer(Freddie) was gay.And sadly died of aids. The movie is great I recommend watching it.Hes known for his flamboyant performance and I recommend you to watch more like we are the champions by queen
These type of bands don't record or use any audio tracks during their performances. It's kind of embarrassing and not genuine if they do. That's the whole point of a band, playing all their own stuff and expressing their sound.
Since you wanted some background information on Queen and suggestions for other bands to check out, I've hopefully wrote enough for you. I'm so glad you enjoyed listening to Queen. Freddie Mercury was the lead singer, Brian May (lead guitarist - one with the long, brown curly hair), John Deacon (bass guitar), and Roger Taylor (on drums). One special thing about Queen is that all 4 members wrote songs on their 10 albums. Freddie had such an unique voice that after he died in Nov. 1991, there were scientific studies done on his octave range. Freddie had a range between 4 and 5; where a normal singer sings with an octave of 3. Pianos have an octave of 7. Freddie was born with 4 extra teeth on top, causing his over bite. He's famous for saying that he never would have his teeth corrected because he was afraid it would affect his voice. He never had one voice lesson; Freddie had pure talent. If you want to see a wonderful performance by Queen, look up their video from Live Aid in 1985. It was a charity concert to help feed the starving people in Ethiopia. At Wembley Stadium (in London), Prince Charles and Lady Diana attended, along with 100,000 people in the stadium. Performances were in Philadelphia too. The who's who of bands that played at this concert, 75 acts including: Led Zepplin, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, George Michael with Wham, Elton John, Duran Duran, U2, Madonna, Sade, Sting, Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, and Keith Richards (from the Rolling Stones), Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Run DMC, The Who, Rick Springfield, Marilyn McCoo, Bette Midler, REO Speedwagon with the Beach Boys, Beastie Boys, Tina Turner, Crosbu Stills Nash & Young, Patti LaBelle, The Pretenders, Hall and Oats, Lionel Richie, Harry Belafonte, Cher, Sheena Eston, Kool &the Gang, Bruce Springsteen, Carlos Santana, Ashford & Simpson, Dionne Warwick, Bo Diddley with George Thorogood, Teddy Pendergrass, The Cars, Eric Clapton, Judas Priest, Phil Collins, Adam Ant, The Four Tops, BB King, Billy Ocean, Ozzy Osbourne (with his former band Black Sabbath)m - just to name a few. Each act was given a 20 minute set and all of the bands performed for free. The concert lasted for 16 hours and was seen by 1.2 billon people. When Queen played, it was considered as "the greatest rock performance of all time." Freddie Mercury stole the show; you'll love the way Freddie controlled this audience like no other band. Queen raised more money than any of the other act who played. Even though Queen's performed for 22-23 minutes long, I guarantee you'll enjoy it. On that day, Freddie had a throat infection, but bperformed against his doctor's order. All of these acts are some bands that you can also look up. You can't go wrong with any of them. After this performance, Queen was inducted into the the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Additionally, watch the new movie called Bohemian Rapsody. It's based on Freddie Mercury's life while he was in the band.
Their song Bohemian Rhapsody is considered to be an official “musical masterpiece” by music experts around the world. Very few modern (as in last 50yrs) songs can claim that title and even fewer are rock songs.
It's a big mistake you listening and watching queen concert. From this time on you will join me and the rest of commentator here getting addicted with The Queen. And i can guarantee you, You will enjoy every moment if listening to this band. Enjoy!!!! Love it!!!
Queen Fun Fact: Freddy recused all offers of dental work to improve the look of his teeth. He was deathly afraid it would effect his voice. He also wrote their hit Bohemian Rhapsody (a music masterpiece taught in prestigious music schools) while drunk as a skunk.
So glad to see you appreciate Rogers talent! He was a fabulous backup singer and would always sing in perfect harmony with Freddie for many of their songs. He would even cover for Freddie if he was losing his voice or was sick. Also, you should watch the music video for this so you can see all four band members recording and singing this song together in the studio. It's really cool!
If you are loving on the sound of guitars.....Keep checking out the Queen videos, especially live ones, they are the only band that I know of, that sounds better live than they do on their recordings. When I am home, I don't pop in a CD, I pop on their live performances. No audio track...that was them completely live and raw. And Brian May is a master of that guitar that no one can touch, just like Freddie Mercury was a master at vocals. This band will never fizzle out, it gets passed down through the generations...lol My 15yr old is into this band now! If you haven't yet, check out live aide 85, shows you how Freddie could control a crowd of 80 thousand people, had them eating out of the palm of his hand with his energy. Incredible performance that no other band that came behind them in the line up could touch. It's a 20 minute set of a few of their songs. You wont be disappointed.
Freddy Mercury had an amazing range to his voice. The drummer, and guitarist also. If you have ever attended a sporting event, you probably have heard " We are the Champions " and "We will rock you" both written by Queen members. For their best performance ever, check out Queen at Live Aid in 1985( I think it was ) go see the movie!
Freddie didn't cheat. We didn't have audio tracking back then. Roger Taylor is the drummer. Dr. Brian May guitar. John Deacon bass. All members wrote and it was a group effort.
There is no audio track, or auto tune, or anything like that. It's just the band playing their instruments and singing.
yes pure raw talent!
No Lip Syncing here!
Asher8328 wrong, this concert was overdubbed for the official release
@@chaseharlann Wrong.

Brian Coffey Totally agree. Roger’s is one of the great rocknroll voices. I wish he’d do more solo work while he still can.
Yes! almost all the other reactions gloss over it or miss it entirely and it always makes me sad. I think someone who's never had any Queen background before, like this guy, are the ones more likely to notice. Everyone else is obsessed with Freddie and too focused on him. GladiatorKnightGhost Yes, I agree, Glad. Queen was a 4 member rock band.
Freddie Mercury - Vocals, Piano
Brian May - Guitar, backing vocals
Roger Taylor - Drums, backing vocals
John Deacon - Bass Guitar
They've made songs that you have definitely heard: We Are The Champions, Another One Bites the Dust, Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't Stop Me Now, You're My Best Friend, We Will Rock You, I Want to Break Free.
Just add John Deacon - Bass guitar, Legend and you are all set
Awe as
Brian and Roger are not just backing vocals. Queen decided long ago there was no lead. They all get vocal credit.

No audio tracks, no synthesizers, no auto tune. Just pure, unadulterated talent! Yes - 4 members! You can read about them in the comments below! Def do more Queen- they will all make you happy and have you rocking out like this one did!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Roger Taylor had a FANTASTIC voice. So often unnoticed when there's a vocal phenomenon like Freddie Mercury fronting.
This what happens when artists can actually sing without autotune & have real legendary talent..their music & songs last forever..NO one around today can come close to this!
Dude..... This is 1981. NO AUDIO TRACK, NO AUTO TUNE. Four musical geniuses, four instruments, four microphones. RAW TALENT!!!
Quite possibly one of the greatest live performances of any song I’ve ever seen, Freddie’s vocals, the timing, guitar and drums and Roger singing at the same time, amazing performance from a legendary band
They're actually Top 10 Highest Selling Music Artist of all time. Their song Bohemian Rhapsody is the most streamed song of 21st Century.
Please go down the Queen road. It will change your life!
A twisting, turning road, but a rewarding and joyful trip indeed.
Yes please do!! 🔥♥️🔥👌
Esther Ruesink Ya fuckin aye, it will! Woooooo-Hoooo!!! Rock AND Roll!!!
Don't go too deep down the rabbit hole, though --- there is some really dark stuff about Freddie that the movie didn't expose --- the dude was into hedonistic fun !!
Goodness there wasn’t any such thing as audio track. The whole band is amazing. Real talent!!
Yes the drummer sings. They did back in the day because they are real musical artists. The great Queen. 🤣🤣🎸🎼🥁🎙️👑🇬🇧
Four instruments, four musical geniuses, NO AUTOTUNE, these guys don't need no f@@king autotune!
Yup just 4 dudes with 4 instruments making all that noise. Guitar, bass, drums, piano. Welcome to rock music.
welcome to one of the best voices and bands in the history of popular music!
*One of the greatest
...that'd be why the qualifier 'arguably' was used.
In my opinion they're the greatest.
"One of the greatest". Probably the most popular too alongside The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
tbablue young people these days! Lol.
Audio track!!!? Audio track!!? Wash your mouth out with soap!
richard scales 😂😀😅😀😅😅
hahahaha I laughed hard , he said audio track
richard scales my eyes bugged out when he said that. Lol.
You inserted the big tape into this box🥰
That was amazing but I liked my records.
The answering machine was so awesome people left messages🤣
Back in the day a friend reached you when you came home.
So let’s all welcome younger generations to learn about our past.
These kids can run circles around me on a computer or cell phone and tablets.
✌🏻 Love & Rock N Roll 🎸 🎤 🥁
You need to explore Queen in depth. The more you learn, the more you’ll be completely blown away!
I listen to their everyday makes me so happy in my heart and soul I feel his passion and pain
Oh boy. Your first Queen was this? Excellent life decision.
The lead singer in the white superman tank: Freddie Mercury (sadly rocking out the concerts in the next world now)
The drummer: Roger Taylor (still touring!)
The tall guy with the curly hair on electric guitar: Dr Brian May (still touring!)
The guy in blue playing bass guitar: John Deacon (retired)
The running joke is that Queen were a highly overqualified band: Freddie had a degree in art/fashion, Roger had a BSc in Biology, John had his degree in electrical engineering, and Brian has his PhD in astrophysics!
GladiatorKnightGhost Truth!
Great potted history. thamks👏👏👏. Small correction: all four wrote number one hits, not just top ten. That’s why they’re the only band whose all four members are in the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.
Roger is a dentist too. :)
Lily Yeoh No, he didn’t finish dentistry. He’s a BSc in Biology. He switched courses.
GladiatorKnightGhost Awesome summation. Kudos to you!!
Freddie Mercury is known as the greatest rock singer of ALL TIME. He has a 4 octave range, his vibrato is TO DIE FOR, and he's so emotional with his singing. LOVE Queen!!
Cate Malone Some musicologists say he had a 5- octave range. Definitely 4. It's really stunning because a piano has a 7- octave range.
Danelle Covey Five octaves? As incredible as that would be, F2-F6 (~3.7 octaves) is the generally accepted range of his voice. However, his range wasn’t what made his voice so special in the first place.
@@CBGB_1977
That's sick. The only one I can think of that also has a 5 octave range is Mariah Carey.
Danelle Covey Every live performance of Bohemian Rhapsody used an audio track during the operatic section, but otherwise that’s very true.
The opera section of Bohemian Rhapsody was an audio track and they went offstage for that portion
Thanks Larry.😉
As strongly in the major key this song is, it tells quite the tale. Lyrics ranging from “each morning I get up I die a little” to “everyone wants to put me down” portray Freddie as damaged, depressed and ultimately longing for love as a means of leaving his sorrows.
The song hit number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, and is the sixth track on A Day at the Races, Queen’s fifth album. Following the acclaimed read more »
What have the artists said about the song?
‘Somebody To Love’ is Aretha Franklin-influenced. Freddie’s very much into that. We tried to keep the track in a loose, gospel-type feel. I think it’s the loosest track we’ve ever done."
-Roger Taylor
That’s why they are the best band ever because all members were talented in everything.
You might want to listen to the drummer (Roger Taylor) sing his own song, "I'm in Love With my Car". It's all Roger.
The only time they ever use a backing track is in the middle of Bohemian Rhapsody because they cannot recreate that part of the song live - they leave the stage during that part because they will not mime! Everything else is 100% live.
Vince French Usually for Bohemian Rhapsody they would use the track to fill at times or they would change up the song to another and come back to it.
Freddie Mercury is considered the greatest vocalist of all time. 4 octave vocal range, which is almost unheard of.
very pleasant to see your smile looking and hearing to Queen !!! Freddie the singer, Brian at the guitar, Roger drummer and John the bass. They all are talented. Welcome to Freddie universe. See more and continue to give us your reactions.... You can also go back to the 70s with Liar......
All Queen members are multi-talented. They write, produce, play different instruments and sing.
I don't think they even had click tracks in those days, so yes, naturally in-sync.
@@Mirrorgirl492 nope click tracks are not used back then I think there in 1990s invention even though I could be wrong
Raw talent, they were rock royalty in the day and today. I was 17 when he rocked the charts and our radios. We Love queen forever.
Queen 4 genius professional musicians. I miss Freddie Mercury’s voice and charisma. No one has replaced him yet!
this is arguably the greatest rockband of all time. you know a lot of queen-songs without actually knowing it is them. here´s a few: *we will rock you *we are the champions *don´t stop me now *another one bites the dust *under pressure and actually many more. your queen-journey should start this way: 1) bohemian rhapsody official video (750 million views, probably greatest rocksong of all time) 2) somebody to love official 3) live at live-aid wembley 1985 4) innunendo ... then many many more
and the movie songs - Flash Gordon and Highlander
There can’t be any argument about it imo. They are inarguably the best band ever!
Cannot imagine them being the best band ever, the beatles are still better in my opinion
And when you have heard a few songs, go and watch the movie about Freddies road to that Live Aid charity concert in 1985. Its called Bohemian Rhapsody
Etc True dat😆
For example: Fat Bottomed Girls official video or Radio Ga Ga live!
And pretty much we'll recommend every single one of their songs.
Also greatest gig ever, thats without mentioning the brilliant guitar and drums, anything else
Dude, you have heard a LOT of Queen songs, you just don’t realize it yet. You will as you listen to more of their stuff.
I was a California girl so I had beach blonde hair and a shiny gold metallic blouse and white pants...can’t miss me😊
Micheal Jackson was there to see the show that night as well.
Brian May made his guitar with 100 year old wood. His father helped him.
The sound if the guitar is a perfect mix to Freddie Mercury's.
And John Deacon (qualified electrical engineer) created the Deacy Amp specially for the Red Special.
You have just checked out the greatest rock band/singer of all time!!!!
It was 1981 there was no audio track
Yeah, real talent and no Autotune.
Yes there was.
But they used something better, called talent.
You either had talent or not lol & not only a lead singer had to had talent but the whole band so that they can be in sync.
Oh yes, the guy in the white tank top. What an amazing voice! :) Enjoy listening to Queen - a band of four ultra talented folks.
I've been into Queen since 1970's and am jealous that you're just starting on your Queen journey - so much variety and quality to experience. I'd love to be discovering a new group with that much talent at this stage in my life.
"This guy right here" is the incredible Freddie Mercury. The band is Queen. Research Freddie and Queen. Absolutely remarkable!!!!
You really need to check out their work.
n2movies do you know who Big L, or Rakim are
@@Slash2632 actually yes I do.
Queen didn't use audio tracks
Paul McInerney the only time they would was the middle part of bohemian rhapsody because they couldn’t recreate it live and they would leave the stage at this time so they wouldn’t mime.
Paul McInerney they did it once and it was very obvious
Paul McInerney I think it was when he was sick though
The intro to One Vision.
@satchfan2010 - only as a brief intro whilst coming onto the stage, then immediately picked it up live.
Thank you my bruh for your reaction! Hopefully you discover more Queen songs because they really had the best singer and frontman ever and an unique sound. So creative, so different but so cool!
PLe
Lead guitar: Brian May singer: Freddie Mercury drums:Roger Taylor bass guitar: John Deacon
Best rock band ever!!!
Thanks for your comment! Freddie could sing within a bit more than 3 full octaves - answer to high notes
More queen live Performances please
Freddie Mercury was the greatest voice in music History.
Thanks for doing Freddie and Queen! So many memories!! Rock on 🤘
All his band wrote number one songs and all could sing and play numerous instruments. Rock Stars!!! 🎵🎶🎸🎤🥁💙💙
Freddie Mercury, the singer and piano man with a record range in singing
Dr Brian May, the curly haired guitar player, has a doctorate in Astrophysics
Roger Taylor, the drummer, who has amazing vocals that are mostly recognizable as the high note “Galileo” in there famous song “bohemian rhapsody”
John Deacon, disco deaky, the most underrated bass player ever, wrote the bass riff in “under presser” sadly was stolen for the song “ice ice baby”
Freddie was the God of music and vocal Goddity if there is a word meshed together with one of the greatest guitarists, drummers and bassists to ever walk this earth, they all had written no 1 songs in the charts and they totally stole Live Aid, what more can be said, well a lot actually..... And he rode on Darth Vaders back
being from the uk it kinda blows my mind seeing someone who genuinely has no idea who Freddie and queen are :)
The immortal Freddie Mercury and Queen. Check out Freddies solo work. A voice never duplicated, but often replicated. Fans new and old still celebrate his birthday in Montreux, Switzerland where a life size statue is erected on the shore of Lake Geneve.
Ooooooh welcome to the Queen train! This band is full of surprises!
All 4 band members sang and each one wrote at least 1 number 1 hit
That man singing...legendary Freddie Mercury!!
I love Queen. Legends. Been listening to them since I was 7yrs old. No one can make Oprah and Rock sound so good together 😍🤗😂😂 Miss Freddie. 😂😂
Even with Freddie sadly departed and watching from above the world says, God save the Queen. 🎤🎼🎵🎹🎭👑
10:58 - Your smile after Freddie's long "Whoooooooo". That's exactly how we were all feeling.
Queen is Legendary. I think they have the most hits and recognizable songs of any band.💯💯
Everyone in the band have degrees. Freddie went to school for art, brian has a degree in astrophics, fever for dentistry and John for engineer ing
It's fun seeing youngsters' first time reactions to Queen.
Freddie sings Somebody to Love, Milton Keynes 1982 - my favorite version. Queen = so talented. Freddie = genius.
Freddie Mercury. Vocals Brilliant Brian May Guitar Roger Taylor. Drums. John zdeacon bass guitar
