My dear Kasper, always nice to hear you discover new "Smiffs"😉 The reference to "the bomb" is about nuclear war, which was a huge issue and fear the time (people just called it "the bomb"). I think he's saying that "if we we can't be united by love, then let us be united by our common fear of the bomb". It's a typically cleaver lyric by Moz. BTW I also find the line "if there's something you'd like to try, ask me I won't say no, how could I?" very suggestive. I suspect it's a line that Moz has used on a few boys over the years. Lol

I think the thought in the lyric was that if we can't make caring for each other ("love"), then the alternative is to let war ("the bomb") to unite us (presumably in death)
