This song was actually recorded in 1979, not 1984 as said in the video. It still sounds way ahead of its time and I can't imagine any current bands coming up with anything anywhere near as inventive as this.
The date is the copyright of the video. It is from the vhs that also included the New Age video and a Bauhaus live show. The copyright appears throughout. The same copyright appears on the infamous Cramps Mental Hospital video,. as well. It's just Target Video's watermark.
Unbelieveable. To think how good this clip is made on zero budget being shown to a very small audience, yet being so much more interesting than so may clips costing thousands. Chrome were awesome
The original "Meet You on the Subway" on Subterranean Modern is over 5 minutes in length and includes an incredible coda that sounds (to me) like "Hero" by Neu! Ralph Records signed several SF bands (Tuxedomoon, MX-80 Sound, and Chrome), but I think Chrome got a better offer from the label Beggars Banquet (and its sub-label Don't Fall Off the Mountain).
Amazing! Phillip K. Dick meets A Clockwork Orange with an Acid-Punk soundtrack! I've wanted to see this for a long time....the best song off Subterranean Modern Ralph Records compilation to boot....hot damn!
Time flys so we must capture it,recent tracks are disinergrating as we watch a saved one returning for a second chance at appreciation. So many gems our listening majority wasn't ready for in the past are now influential main stream .To little too late is better than nuthin.
loving the Chrome. Twas a great period for music really. That's all. What do we have now? Apart from Maria & The Mirrors that is haha. Or Mina Minerva.
I had no idea this video existed! Thank you for loading it! This was my introduction to Chrome back in '82. Awesome Band! To answer another commentator's question, this song didn't appear on a Chrome album but off a compilation vinyl record that Ralph Records put out called Subterranean Modern. I think this song is one of their best, simply because it comes across like a real song. It was a departure from their stream of consciousness recordings that they were known for at the time. I never did find out how they got on Subterranean Modern because they never recorded for Ralph Records. If you want a copy of this song, it does appear on the Anthology compilation.
Yeah, that chick has a rockin bod. All legs. I just bought the DVD on ebay. Search for "Dual Forces" or search for "Target Video" They did some Tuxedomoon also.
zombiewarfare (1 month ago) I understand there's a video for 'Danger Zone' too, made at the same time as New Age and this... There's a DVD of Chrome and Helios Creed which has this and all the Chrome videos, with Firebomb which hasn't been released before.
They have so much amazing music. Why there¨s only two song from them here? Where´s half machine lips move? March of the chrome police? Zombie warfare? They are not popular at all, but their music is absolutely from another world!! Somebody said that their music is what Dante would have figured out to Hell. And I agree... and I love that hell...
Yes of course for those that want to know, yes I am a Rivethead. I prefer hanging in a wharehouse with fellow Rivetheads, than in a club watching Goths acting all stuck up and hanging with their own people. So Chrome Rocks!
@MrSKINFLICK I don't remember where it was first released exactly, but I know it was somewhere between 82-83, that is the date said on the LP it belongs to in the Adenoids box. It also came out on some australian post punk comp, not sure if the other bands are good, only other one I know in there is SPK.
Is'nt word of mouth beautiful? I first heard of chrome in college 86. By then Damon and Helios were seperated and they were basically defunct. Now Helios is often regarded as one of the greats and Chrome's awesome sonic assault is being enjoyed more and more...
cool shit.. was reading the liner notes of independent worm saloon and saw helios creed as guest guitar player, now chrome is completely blowing my mind. thank you butthole surfers and thank you helios
What they're riding in this video is the BART: the Bay Area Rapid Transit system in the San Francisco Area. It isn’t actually a subway, because it runs almost entirely above ground (except in down town San Francisco itself). FOOD FOR THOUGHT!
If it sounds good, listen to it.. enough of this, "skilled dj" stuff.. a skilled dj is someone with enough knollege to know the songs which go well with eachother, and can make people dance.
correction I am NOT 60.....but when I talk to folks my age with NO taste for GOOD music I wish I was 60 or at least with people like me-COOL PEOPLE not you hehehehe.
I credited him on the Dangerzone video a couple of years ago, uploaded by Helios. And on the Meet You in the Subway also uploaded by him. Ian died in Dec 2010, from ALS.
Thanks for the info, he created some amazing art with this video. Also I saw he did the incredible cover for Red Exposure. Big thank you to Ian for creating all of that, it’s a helluva legacy. Sorry to hear of his passing. RIP I wish I got to see him create this, I wonder what camera technique he used.
@@mosaics2024 Do you know how Ian created the effect where people and the train / platform glowed in white? It looks fantastic, even to this day. Amazing that it’s from the early 80s. Thanks Tracy.
Could anyone of you give me the lyrics of this song and "Eyes on mars"? They sound really awesome for me, so I would like to appreciate words as well. :)
Listen & Appreciate the human movement. Open the shutters and realise the possibilities. This is an Advert that is offering you the opportunity to sell yourself! If your worth buying of course.
Nothing sounded like Chrome back in the late 70s - mid 80s. Ahead of its time, great stuff.
Neu!

+Christophe Petchanatz C'est de loin mon groupe préféré....c'est dommage qu'en concert Helios ne peut pas trainer son studio....lolll

@@mosaics2024 Looks like he definitely did New Age video as well, there’s three versions of it. Very cool
ruclips.net/video/9FBGd7vf0e0/видео.html
@@mick2spic Yes, in terms of the original footage. But I think chrome recut that after it was transferred to video and used it for other things.
@@mosaics2024 Do you know how Ian created the effect where people and the train / platform glowed in white? It looks fantastic, even to this day. Amazing that it’s from the early 80s. Thanks Tracy.
So 80s, it's 60s.
What a Gentle Man
I prefer a club with bands rather than a DJ, even more if the DJ make mix and then try to compose music and release it, if you like it fine.
Im frightened.
