I see some carpet the van's metal walls after the insulation & then carpeting the ply-lined boards afterward? I notice you just carpeted straight over the ply lined wood? Why do people do this? and why don't others? Looks awesome. Good job.
I'm going to respond first with I am no expert in the van conversion game. This was my first and only camper so far. There's a lot of information online about making a vapour barrier. But honestly I read so much information that was for and against it. I just ended up going with my gut and the 50% of people who put it straight on the metal. I don't live in it and its my main vehicle. So it doesn't get mouldy or too condensated.
@@jamieoutdoors Thanks for the response, much appreciated. Yes, I have a trafic SWB and thinking about carpeting the walls and doors. Maybe add something to the ceiling later, and yes the van is my work van so wouldn't be adding anything to the floor but I am also looking at the best way to use it for odd nights away with things I can easily put in and take out. Nothing permanent.
I watched this hoping to see how you did round the sliding side door at the top as my van has a sliding door on each side, but you missed that part out and just showed the full door being carpeted. Any tips on the top of the door? Cheers.
@@rafaemma so I didn’t have enough time to do the electrics myself or mainly I didn’t have time to do the research. So I made a decision to just pay for someone to do it and at the same time got them to make me a ply kit to carpet line and put up. I think the ply kit with the carpet lining would actually be really easy to do yourself as it just screws into the top of the van. But, as I work full time and work another part time role I figured I wouldn’t have time to also put energy into this too.
Good job on this one pal 👌 i did my combo van last year and its not as easy as it looks 🤣 how is the van holding out for you? Am looking to get a new van. It will be this or a old transit. Have you had any problems with this van yet and how many miles you got on it. Kind regards Bill kinsey
I bought it with 140,000 miles and so far the only big issue I’ve had is to change part of the brakes and other things like tyres etc. nothing big gone wrong and it’s not on 150,000. I’ve been very impressed with it. I’ve got the 2l version. So it packs a punch and average about 38mpg in it. The transit I’m aware does way worse for mpg. But I could be wrong. And yes it wasn’t as easy as I hoped. I’m currently struggling through the electrics.
Great question. I took off all the rubber seals. Then I ran the carpet lining up to the edge and cut off the excess. Then put the rubber seals back on and took care to make sure the carpet lining fitted underneath
Got any questions as always drop them in the comments
Wow, looking amazing, well done guys!
Loverly work so far. Very nice, I’ve just watched all the videos from start to this one . Can’t wait to see the end results
Thank you so much

I would shut the door and draw a line on it. Then I would only carpet up to that line. Starting with carpeting at that line and work down.
Nice job Jamie!
Thank you Wendy. I’ve got another week off soon so will be doing more yet again
Great videos Jamie, thanks! Where's how you did the roof video?
I actually had someone else do the roof. But the final van video is coming. Trust me.
@@jamieoutdoors Ok. Why, was that going to be too difficult for you to do? What did they put up to cover the insulation?

@@jamieoutdoors thank you. Look forward to seeing the final video.
Hello. How thick is the ply board on the drivers side please?
Good job mate
Thank you! The ply only ended up being 5mm thick as it needed to bend ever so slightly
@@jamieoutdoors thanks mate

Hi buddy, can you remember where you bought your lining and glue from? Thanks
I think it was kirka vans.
Hi how did you finish near the sliding door where the ply stands away from the door rubber seal
Great question. I took off all the rubber seals. Then I ran the carpet lining up to the edge and cut off the excess. Then put the rubber seals back on and took care to make sure the carpet lining fitted underneath
Is that what you meant?
Looking to start this myself. How long has it took you to get to this stage
Surprisingly little time. It’s probably taken a week of work tops. Could’ve been shorter if everything had arrived on time
Hi mate how much felt did you need to line the full vivaro
I can’t remember the exact amount I bought. But I can remember needing more than I thought. I will try and find the exact amount in my emails
I used 1 stretch of 5x1metre + and 1 of 5x2metre. One from Kiravans and one from Amazon
Nice job. How much material did you need (guessing that's the SWB)?
Cancel - just seen in the comments below! Thanks!
Haha. No worries. Thanks for the comment. Hope your van build goes well. This is the short wheel base version yes
Is ur van a lwb and how many meters of carpet did u get
It’s a SWB. I used 1 stretch of 5x1metre + and 1 of 5x2metre. One from Kiravans and one from Amazon
