Greetings from another van converter in Australia. Thanks for the video. I am always learning from other people who have converted their vans. Very nice job. I wish you many happy trips. Have a nice day.
Excellent video and great build. Converting my renault Trafic and sharing progress on my channel.. thank you for the inspiration 😊
Take care

Your choice buddy, it’s either that or my horrible voice which I’m not a fan of. I’m trying and new to this.
How did you take off the plastic bits on the doors attached to the handles to insulate behind?
They just pop of if I remember. Maybe one screw max holding on place.
amazing job! May I kindly ask you for the bed length when set? I would assume this is a L1h1 model? Is there a chance to have 1.90cm?
Hiya. Thanks for your comment. Mine was around 1780mm in length but you could easily make it longer. It would just protrude past the sliding door a little more that’s all.
@@NorthWalesCampers thanks mate! I appreciate your quick reply and help :)
Looks amazing. Especially managing all that work in 15 minutes!!! ;)
Thank you I know, I’m amazing.
i worked now 1,5 year and he did more and better in 7 minutes.. bummer i don´t dare to watch the other 8 minute :D
Around 3400 views & around 10%likes…. You did an amazing job mate & class finish well done.
Thank you so much. I’ve gone on to build quite a few more for customers since building this one for myself. I just need to use it’s more. It’s been out twice in the last 5 months. It might end up being for sale.
Absolutely loved the footage. Really simple and classy. Keep uploading. Pleasure to watch
Thank you so much for the fantastic comments. Currently converting a transit custom high top. Intending on doing some how to’s with this one.
Just seen your vid. Am looking to do similar ish but need removable bed as will also be used as a work van. That said what front seats did you use and were they an easy fit
Hi Steve I used for galaxy seats. They were fairly straightforward to fit. Just drilled new holes on the bases. You’ll need another drivers side base. There straightforward to fit to as the holes are already in the floor.
Sorry forgot to ask. What units did you use for the kitchen part ?
I used 1x base cabinet and 1x wall cabinet from B&Q but I now build them bespoke myself when needed.
Hello, amazing job 👌 Nice 👍 I wish you beautiful travel experiences. Sincerely, Martin.
Why didn't you put a vapor barrier on?
I’m a caravan and Motorhome service engineer, manufacturers who build Motorhomes whether that be coach built or a van conversion there’s never a vapour barrier, plus other professional builders I speak to never install them and for me I just think they cause bigger issues down the line. Just make sure you add ventilation both high level and low level. You’ll never have issues then unless water gets in from outside. Hope this helps.
@@NorthWalesCampers that's interesting to know. I'm looking for a van to build. Thanks for your video and time answering my question
Excellent conversion 👍 Are you a carpenter? I have a LWB Vivaro for work (bathroom fitter), would love to convert it, but wouldn’t have room for work tools etc 🙄 😂
Hi thanks for the comment, if being honest no I’m not, but I’ve been a hobbyist woodworker and cabinet builder for the last 15 years. And over the years my skill set has massively improved. I have a movano for my work vehicle which in the coming weeks will be getting stripped and completely reworked as since selling my camper I regret it so I’m going to convert my work van into a multi use work/camper van, removable rear bed and cabinets with multi purpose based on IKEA cubes so I can swap over easily. If you’d like to get in touch and dial further please email
thecaravandoc@yahoo.co.uk
Thanks.
they look like some old kitchen units hahaha that's amazing i would have never thought of that haha you are a legend
Hi there. Lovely build. What kitchen units have you used? Struggling for inspiration for my bed in my trafic and then this pops up with just the kitchen I've been imagining. Jim
Hi thanks for the comment. I used a 800 base unit and 400 wall unit from Howdens but B&Q ok too check out my other vivaro build video. You’ll like that one. The cabinet layouts better.
Looks really good mate, I've just bought a high top vivaro with plans to convert it. I found you easy to watch and listen to, most RUclipsrs are boring as hell. Curious to know what solar panels and controller, battery, lights, tap and plumbing and other such gumpf you went for, where you sourced them, etc etc. Especially interested in the swivel seat. Can you do it yourself or does it need to be to a certain safety code. What about the drivers seat? But, well done, looks good and is functional. Shows what can be done on a smaller budget from a home garage.
Hi pal, leave it with me and I’ll did the info out for you. The seats were from a ford galaxy. Minor adjustment to original base and you’ll need a drivers side base for the passenger side if you go single seat there. Solar I used renogy175watt kit, taps cheap household mixer tap£15. Lights pack of 6 for £20. Agm 110amp battery. Submersible pump.
Wow, thanks for your speedy reply. I appreciate any help you can give. Both my seats are already singles. So no drama there. Already gave diesel heater and leisure battery fitted as its an ex- gas board van. Thanks, Mark.
Superb mate, well done - looks great!
Hi mate I noticed you fitted galaxy swivel chairs, what seat bases did you use? And was it easy to set the pretensioners up?
Hi Tim thanks for the comment. I’ve drilled new holes on the original vivaro seat bases for the galaxy seats. You just need another single seat bases for the passenger seat. I’ve just stripped the old pretensioners off the old seats and plugged them in under the seats. I just need to figure out what’s stopping it from swivelling both ways and 360 degrees then I’d be happy.
very good mate, i about to do a transit custom wish me luck hahaa
A couple of tips or advice. Plan well and enjoy it. If it’s not going your way, walk away for 5-10 minutes then go back. Its not a rush. Have fun 👍👍
Hi what did you use for the cupboards under the window
Hi for this build I used of the shelf base and wall kitchen cabinets. Now I build the cabinets myself.
piękny efekt końcowy chętnie bym posiedział wewnatrz
aby sie przekonac do takiej mini zabudowy ;)
Thank you. I was very happy with the finished result. It was just a shame I didn’t use it as much as I intended on doing. I recently sold it and it’s getting used every weekend now.
what are the small silver pieces you have applied to the inside of the van towards the beginning of the video ?
Sound deadening mats. Takes the ting out of the metal to reduce road noise.
@@NorthWalesCampers thankyou for the reply 😃
Looks brill, where do you keep the middle sheet for the bed extension
Hi if you check out the 4 day build video you’ll see a better video of how the bed works. Thanks.
I've been looking high and low for how to finish the doors, carpet and that trim worked a treat! How did you finish your sliding door? Great build
Glad it helped. I removed the plastic trim and carpeted it and just resisted and and fit where the window is I made a custom panel with a smaller opening and fitted an IKEA blinds behind it. Works a treat.
@@NorthWalesCampers is there a picture anywhere online to see this? Cheers!
I’ll put a little short up this week for you. Keep your eyes peeled 👍👍
Did you not do a vapour barrier?...Beautifully finished pal.
Hi, thanks for the comment, No I didn’t use a vapour barrier, I’ve been a caravan and Motorhome engineer for nearly 16 years and not one manufacturer who builds with coach built or van conversions use a vapour barrier. They just cause issues. The van needs to breathe in my honest opinion. Hope this helps. Please subscribe. More content to follow soon.
@@NorthWalesCampers it does help thank you for replying so quickly.. As a Very novice self builder the Struggle I had putting the bloody silver bubble wrap thing on the walls I vowed I'd never do it again 👍👍
I honestly think everyone does it because it’s on here. It’s a massive overkill imho. Everyone seems to listen to Greg Virgoe, I’ve had to correct him and he still denied he was wrong regarding gas works.
круто !!!!!!!
Nicely done. Smart Solutions an materials.
Thanks this one’s my own build but I’ll be changing it a bit over the winter. Few things I’m not happy with.
Good work bud, same van as me, I'm looking for ideas go change mine
Check out the other build i did. This one’s my own van. The other was a customers I massively improved on.
@@NorthWalesCampers I'm going to do a quick video of mine shortly so you'll see. I'm going to pull out the sink which I never use and replace with a work top
Quality video! Please keep them coming :)
What a van . You had problem with injectors I am just in the process of having 4 injectors fitted £2600 only had van 4 month . Bloody hurts. Lol
Blimey that’s expensive. Why so much. Injectors are around £300 max each. Think I paid £220 as an exchange off of ones. Can you not do it yourself. I’d a fairly straightforward job.
Hey mate great build thanks for sharing. Can I ask how much this cost you to do and how long it took please?
Hi thanks for your comment, it took me around 2 months max overall for the finished build with everything. Cost around 3.5 - 4k to do
@@NorthWalesCampers wow thanks for the speedy reply and it’s very helpful to know. I’ve just bought a Vivaro and thinking of doing my first van build with it👍
And sorry one more thing, was this 2 months full time doing it like 5 days a week?
I hit it hard for 2 weeks as I work. for myself and it was probably 80-85% complete. I just took my time then around with. Probably 4 weeks Monday to Friday easily.
Great thanks for that mate 👍
Where are you based
Sunny Rhyl
Love this good job mate
Thank you very much. It will be up for sale soon. Just don’t get time to use it.
Love it 😃
Thank you. Unfortunately I no longer own the camper. Wasn’t using it. I’ll build another one slightly bigger in a couple of years.
Great video
Thank you so much. Means a lot.
Very cool! Is this a L1H1? or L2H1? I would love to build this myself
Hi swb L1 thanks
Spot on job. Please can I ask what car the 2 front seats are from please?
Hi Andy they came from a ford galaxy. 👍
Wow amazing work man, just a quick question I'm in the process of converting the same thing at the moment, did you require an upgrade in suspension at all post conversion?
Hi thanks for the comment. Very much appreciated. It’s all timber framing so very little weight added.
Thanks
Hi mate where do you get your bed cushions made from? Thank you
Hi Raaaj I get the cushions made from a local upholsterer in north wales, she’s based in Mochdre
Hi, where was the beautiful red seated van you showed from?
A fantastic upholsterer local to myself. Thanks
Hi mate have you got the layout/dimensions and supplies needed to make that bed
Leave it with me. Currently building something very similar with the U shape seating arrangement.I build the basic structure using 2x1 par timber. Doesn’t need to be any bigger than that as once the cladding on that adds strength. The seat base is made from 18mm plywood
what are the silver panels you stuck on?
Hi, they are sound deadening mats, reduces the rattling from the panels. The ting noise disappears and when tapped it’s more off a thud. They work great. Defo recommend.
How did you fix the roof
Hi Ryan I fixed battens to the roof and then when fixing the slats as they are only thin and lightweight I pinned them in place using my nailer firing the nails in on an angle for a stronger fixing.
back again lol how is the ply suported near the kitchen area thxs andy
Hi Andy not sure what you mean thanks. Do you mean the wall ply. That’s been secured to the structure and the window reveal has returns that are screwed both the the ply and the vans structure. Keep asking. If I can help I certainly will try.
@@NorthWalesCampers the ply that comes out to make the bed i cant see any suport for the ply near the kitchen units thxs andy
@@andytawa1114 hi Andy the fold out section has a fold out leg that neatly tucks away in seat mode but drops into place in bed mode. I’ll video making the bed up and putting it away this weekend without the cushions on. It’s currently of the road. Cylinder 1 injector has failed. Ordered the tools to remove so hopefully doing that tomorrow. May video it.
@@NorthWalesCampers ok thxs very much sorry for all theses questions but need to get it right thxs andy
Looks mint👌👌
Thank you. My latest one was an improvement to this one.
L1 or L2? Thanks
Hi. It’s an L1 model. Short wheel base. Thanks. Are you about to start a build. I’m currently converting another swb vivaro for a customer. He loved my layout and wanted the same
@@NorthWalesCampers Thanks. I've sold my car, and im looking for buy vivaro for convert
@@pajamasguitarist1055 good luck with the build.
well done that mate
Hi david. Thank you. Check out the other build similar. This is my own build where I made a few mistakes but the other one is spot on and was built for a customer
I have vivaro swb myself pop top roof ut now happy with the bed boards I wanted struts fixing is this something you could help with I live on the wirral not far from you
@@davidhagan6571 hi david. Yes of course. Assume you just want struts installing to help support the bed base.

Hi, nice van! Do you find the carpeted rear doors leak now the seals are up against carpet and not the metal of the door?
Hi thanks for the comment. I’ve carpeted up to do the seals still go up against the metal door. Thanks
I love that. Especially the roof inside. I could not believe how clean that floor was. That van clearly had an easy life 😂
To be fair the whole van inside came up a treat. It was owned for the last 11 years by a lady market trader. Thanks for the lovely comment. We finally got away in her last week. Headed down south to Cornwall. She was great
