It wasn’t that long ago when we put together Amtrak Trains and still remains as the top video on the channel with lots of views. After creating the Metra F40PH Diesel Locomotives video, it gave us inspiration to create a video dedicated to the Amtrak P42DC Diesel Locomotives. In this video, we look back at some of the most unique moments we had along the tracks featuring Amtrak P42DC and P40DC Diesel Locomotives. The P42DC/P40DC Diesel Locomotives were built by General Electric between 1992 and 2001 with a total of 321 engines to replace Amtrak’s F40PH and P32BWH (Dash 8) locomotives. Since these engines are reaching 40 years of service under their belt, it is undetermined where they will end up when they are fully replaced by the new Amtrak ALC-42 locomotives by Siemens in California. Let us know in the comments what other diesel locomotive videos we should do! Enjoy the video!
Great video Andrew of almost 25 and a half minutes of Amtrak P42DC engines in a variety of locations in the Chicago area with Amtrak routes. Thank you for documenting trains with these engines and for compiling this video to share with us!
Thanks for watching!

We'll do a video on the Amtrak ALC-42 locomotives when they start rolling along the tracks. -Andrew Mangalindan
Hope one of the p42dc gets sold to Metra
It would depend if the freight companies allowed them which most do
@@meverything2216 i think metra owns a good bit of trackagge but i’m not really sure.
