  • If you like coastal birds and natural landscapes then this one is for you. This summer, the Penghu National Scenic Area Headquarters is promoting island-hopping tours that take visitors to see seagulls up close at uninhabited islands in the archipelago. The large flocks of birds contrasting against the blue sea and sky have not left visitors disappointed. Let’s hear from them.

This is the first time I’ve seen such a large flock of seagulls up so close. At first it was a bit overwhelming seeing so many of them. But the blue surrounding the island, and the sea stretching into the horizon soothed me quite quickly and I started enjoying the landscapes here.

The seagull tour is very special. We make a stop at the secret paradise that is Mudou Island. The sea is gorgeous. We also stop at Gupo Island and at the Anvil Islet to see the terns. We also go to Xianjiao Island and let everyone ashore.
The weather and the tides make visiting the uninhabited islands in the archipelago a tricky task. The best time to make an attempt is summer, which just so happens to be the best time to see the seagulls.
