I am a track athlete (800m) and was very motivated after listening to Dr Tim Noakes to try improve my athletic performance by going high fat low carb (25g and below )I was extremely disciplined and tried my absolute best for 14 months to get it right .This was a disaster for me and I am back to my old higher carb way moderate lean protein way of eating (oats ,sweet potatoes , sour dough bread and now I’m literally back on track. Keto had some of the advantages you mentioned but for professional high intensity athletic activities carbs are king in my option. The most important thing was my sleep was poor on Keto and recovering from hard sessions was difficult- I was just getting worn down. Now back on carbs (150g a day ) I am a different person and athlete and sleep and recover well. This is the most important thing for me right now.
Yeah, keto doesn't work for everyone but I noticed carb intake isn't the only factor. There are huge differences between low-carb + high-protein/fat and moderate-protein/high-fat. I like to think that I feel better with carbs too but I encourage you to look into some of the issues associated with potatoes (antinutrients) and oats (glyphosate). You can mitigate both to a degree if you're aware.
I like honey, but don't eat it. I eat fresh, organic fruit and some nuts but mostly I eat grass fed meat like Dr. Saladino. My issue with honey is that I don't want to become a Type 1 diabetic like my dad, a deceased aunt. I use A2 A2 yogurt, though it's not raw.
When I heard you say “An animal based diet” I figured you’ve been following Paul Saladino. And I really like the comment about each persons ancestry may play a role in what diet is best and appropriate for each individual. I’m a firm believer in that (even though I still haven’t found what that would be for me)! Dr Chaffee and Dr Shawn Baker are strict Carnivores and do very rigorous workouts and need no carbs where as Dr Saladino had to add them back in and is doing much better with them. Carb cycling worked really well for me: I only ate carbs around my weightlifting but I’d like to give strict carnivore a shot and judge my results. I just subscribed to your channel. Very good work you’re doing!
Ok, in my health experience. Eating mostly animal protein and dairy and low carbs negatively affected my kidney function. Fast forward, I flipped the script, cut out the high-fat high-animal protein foods, and started eating a high-carb plant-centric diet. My kidney function levels are normal and I feel better. I will never go back to keto because it is dangerous to my health.
The best thing in my opinion with carbs: be metabolically healthy/fit and carbs will give you little to no fatigue after eating them. Before keto I only walked a bit and carbs would make me sleepy and give me brain fog. Went keto for most of the pandemic, and began to run a lot. The more miles I ran per week combined with long endurance runs, going keto affected my stamina and ability to sleep. After 2 years of running I got back on carbs, it gave me better running performance and they no longer made me sleepy! I also like going on/off carbs depending on what activity I’m doing and especially when I’m taking a break for a week or two from cardio
@@MichaelKummer i understand. but for tryglicerids would be not so good. it's a matter of not mixing to much starch with protein and fat. things separately work well. but fruit has a bigger spike in insulin along with meat or fat. I understand people are different. I would feel lighter with fruit and a chicken breast. fruit will obviously enter to quickly in your liver. we need fruit. but sweet botato, or basmati rice.. doesn't work? eating fruit then sparingly? after keto it's normal a thyroid goes a bit disfunctional, adrenals. and biome. a lack of stomach acid causes a lot of stuff. mirenal imbalances. low body temperature doesn't activate enough of the enzymes to work on digestion. iodine small doses very important. 1 time per week, metilselionine. mthylcoblamib, folate, iron here and there bisglycinate if you can. zinc glycinate. as sodium and calcium very important for stomach acid and motility. a methylated B complex here and there. not so much. but I understand you. you don't bloat so much with fruits and protein. with starch you? would bloat more. but retain more glicogen in muscle. fruit works, but makes it forest to the liver to use. t so when mixed with fat... it will increase liver lipids. but being active is he key. as you are. thanks man
@@JhonydasiLvadrums1987 Triglycerides become only an issue if you consume more energy than your body needs. I tend not to do that. The issue with starchy foods is that they're usually also full of toxins, including anti nutrients. See ruclips.net/video/GqKzO_PkD-k/видео.html for what I mean by that. There are ways to mitigate some of those issues (in potatoes and rice) and I discussed those in michaelkummer.com/health/plants-vs-meat/. I don't necessarily think keto harms the thyroid, I just think that your body gets more efficient and required lower thyroid hormone levels -- much like your fasting insulin goes down. I'm not a fan of synthetic minerals and vitamins. If you consume animals nose-to-tail (or leverage freeze-dried organ meat supplements), you get all the micros you need.
Really like your presentation and appreciate your help. The background music is stressful.
Today Ive introduced honey back into my carnivore diet because of poor sleep. You said everything I was wondering about! Thank you keep going on:)
You got this!
Yum! Honey!
Sleep is everything. A good barometer for whatever diet and lifestyle you have.

How did you measure your kidney function?

Thanks so much 🙏🏻

Dose makes the poison with carbs too

0:30 One-to-one after training...in terms of calories 1:1 or grams 1:1?
Good question! Grams!
Because everyone stops keto eventually
Not everyone does...but among those that do, I wonder how many quit because of (in)convenience or because they don't feel as good as they want to.
Thanks for insight🌞
You are so welcome
starches Vs fruits? as a carb source. what you prefer?
I generally prefer fruits because have fewer toxins than most sources of starches.
