*To expand on option 1, you can also shoot low intentionally on the goalie's pad to get a juicy rebound for your teammate if the goalie is not giving you any holes and there's no pass.*

The goalie can easily hit it with his stick out and then they can get a break away.

@@milanek1527 *I don't understand how that scenario applies on a 2 on 1 though. The shot is coming in low and fast on a pad. From in close proximity, at best, a goalie might be able to deflect the shot with his stick. But I don't see how a goalie control a shot with his stick. Then still have time to play it up with a sauce pass. On top of that, in a 2 on 1 situation, the other team still has 3 players behind that isn't going to be beat with a counterattack pass.*

@@AzNightmare I don't think you ever were a golie because from when I was 16-17 I could easily do this maneuver in the chl. Its a very good tactic that requires precision and practice to get right. Right when it hits the tip of the stick lift up the stick and either with 1 or 2 hands try to bend the stick while hitting the puck to increase the height of the shot. And we do this to make the shot quick in tight. It took me months to do it in 2 on 1's but its great when you learn it.

It’s funny… he’s teaching this technical hockey awareness stuff to little kids!
    I’m 42, listening intently, taking notes 📝!
    😅
He should come teach us beer leaguers!

*You'd be surprised how much beer leaguers don't know these basic principles. A lot of adults pick up hockey at a later time in life and didn't go through proper training camps to learn fundamentals and develop muscle memory early on. Those habits don't "grow up" with you through to your adult life. Kids can learn so much quicker and it's fortunate for the kids who got to play when they were kids. All the good players in my beer league are guys that started when they were kids. You can definitely tell who started playing much later. Even if there's old guys in their 40's and they're now washed up, lazier, slower, etc. If they learnt the game as kids, you can still tell they have the proper biomechanics and technique over some of the younger guys who have more energy, but were more self taught at a much later age. lol*

Option 4: toe-drag between the legs, spin-o-rama backhand top corner.

Great coaching... In my experience with my son squirt/peewee team, most of them rather choose option 1 which is sometimes works and most of the times not. As a parents watching this outside the rink, is a frustrating knowing that the puck carrier can be easily chose another option (there is an open men down the line) instead always go ahead and try to score it

I think he is incredibly dynamic. Growing up as a kid playing hockey, a majority of the time I had coaches that seemed like they couldn't care less if they tried. In my opinion, this coach in the video is an incredible person and personality for those kids :)
