  • The first bus I bought was a New Look in 2003. At the time I lived in a small apartment so that began years of trying to find a place to store the bus. This video covers the last 2 storage locations and moves for Unit 6738. Its a montage of some of the events of those days. Thankfully the days of worrying about storing the buses is behind me. Whew.

    Growing up in L.A. , 6738 is better known as an SCRTD Bus. Second only to a GREYHOUND SCENICRUISER. Great memories.😉

    What is the fuel capacity of the bus fuel tank? What is the adverage MPG of the new look bus? Of the old school bus?

    • @Unit2345
      @Unit2345  2 года назад

      I can't comment to the new look as I haven't filled it but my old look has at least a 50 gallon tank. I'm not sure on an exact mug but my plan is to calculate that after I get the engine rebuilt this winter. When I was a driver we were told about 6 mpg but that was transit driving in a city not steady road driving.

    When towing you should always remove both rear axles to prevent transmission damage.

      Axle was removed, if you look you can see a piece of cardboard where the axle was

    I would love a 1980 GMC RTS but there not many left or maybe a gillig phantom or flexible metro

    • @Unit2345
      @Unit2345  3 года назад

      The few Gilligs I've seen in junkyards haven't faired well. It seems to be the build construction and huge amount of electrical wiring ends up deteriorating so quickly. In the future it wouldn't surprise me if it would be harder to find a running RTS than an Old Look.

      @@Unit2345 there was a orange County California RTS on eBay a year it never sold so I don’t know what happened to it most likely got junked I hope that’s not the case but most likely is and when I live they just junked the last of the phantom’s because the Pennsylvania winter’s ate them alive

    Why can’t you fix it? like restored back to its original 1970 condition. Yeah restore it and make it run like new again and use it for a camper?

    • @Unit2345
      @Unit2345  3 года назад +1

      The plan is to get it back into its original condition for sure. The electrical system is shot and some of the components are locked up after sitting outside. It's going to take some TLC to bring her back.
