I just discovered this channel today! I'm also happy to hear you are also in Japan, like me! I wanted to buy SMS paints after seeing another "modeller", Leona, use the paints on her channel as well. Thank you for reviewing these. I was actually going to buy Ice Blue along with a half dozen of ones not covered here. If you want to talk more about these, some other pearl paints and pigments, review the ones I buy (if you're in Kanto), hit me up with a message. Thanks for your video.
Hi Brandon Cain! I am glad you like the video. I have just received the rest of the SMS pearl last week and will do another video about them very soon. As it comes from Australia the cost was too much to buy everything at once. I live in Tokyo Shinjuku and I am always up to meet GK fans
@@amagonrosh-gk Thanks for the reply. I'm not a GKer; it really started with Frame Arms and RockMan X model kits by Kotobukiya for me. In any case, I'm fimiliar with all the tools and skills necessary with the hobby. Which paints did you order? As I said, I need Ice Blue, but was probably going for Strawberry Red, the Sunset Orange you already covered here, Yellow Banana, Apple green, Blue Berry, and Grape Purple. Hm, sensing a trend? Also Blue/Green flip (water effects?). I also have a small supply or Pearl Pigments from Jacquard. Google "Pearl EX pigments" for an idea on those. Maybe we can combine our forces and review more stuff? Send me a direct message; it's probably not a good idea to let everyone know our personal contact info. :)
Thank you for taking the time to do the video! With the Mother of Pearl, it is intended to give the coloured effect that you would see on seashell type pearl where you get that coloured shimmer to the white pearl. If you wanted the pearl like an actual Pearl, then we have White Pearl available that would do the job.
One bit of advice if I may, would be maybe a second coat or spraying a little more on the spoons. The white base (especially Cherry Red and Green Gold flip) was very light on the color, hard to get an accurate depiction. You can almost still see the white base through it. It will also drastically change the appearance of some of them, usually for the better.
Thank you for your recommendation, I’ll do it next time. I wanted to put not too much paint to keep the white present. Though if you say the color is not visible enough on the video, I’ll make sure I had way more layers 😊
That’s a very good question! If I remember correctly for small figures it is better to use airbrush with a thinner needle like 0.2 or 0.15mm. SMS recommend to use the pearl with airbrush equiped with a 0.3mm needle. But I am not an expert on warhammer so you should get second pov!
What a great way to color test! It was so interesting seeing how the different bases /vastly/ impacted the colors.
Thank you Mel F! I used those 4 bases when it comes to crystals, pearls, clear colors. Otherwise I will use white and black. Very happy you liked it.

Thank you SMS for your feedback! I hope my comment was not taken as a negative comment. I just gave my feedback based on what I was expecting.

Anyone know if these pearl colors work the same way on small, warhammer like, models?
