I have those same JBL and they sound amazing! For the price the tweeters are very smooth and bass sounds like small subwoofers. I’m running them on factory radio or amp.
Find this channel interesting. Have 2005 Honda Accord Coupe. Door speakers are exactly as described in this video. Have 2 way axial Kickers in the doors, 5 1/4 variant. Also installed Pioneer 6x9 speakers in the deck. Head unit is a Dual Din Pioneer unit to allow USB because factory head unit does not. System sounds decent, and should allow Amps in the future. All of the speakers are 50 watt RMS installed. Small 50 x 2 + 50 X 2 or 50 X 4 should work looking at RMS value. For subs it's on the table. I do have a Pioneer 760 2 channel amp. Might be nice to drive dual subs. If I'm not mistan, I think that's 150 a channel RMS. Those spacers for the doors look nice. I had to drill hols in the door to make mine work from Crutchfield. Those are just generic 3 hole spacers.
I ordered 2 pairs of 4 way 6.5 pioneer speakers to modify my sound system, lawd now seeing this i hope the ones for the door fits without hitting anything,if Imma need the adapters I know a store somewhat near me to acquire them.. Can't wait for Amazon to deliver my 350 watts of power, the stock speakers probably 25-40 watts idk just saying..
The tab i think i was missing in my front doors because the screw was causing problems with them grounding out/ cutting out . Was using a focal component speaker system
Great video! I appreciate the detailed explanations of the spacers, connectors, and speaker options. What would you recommend for upgrading all factory speakers(except the sub) for a 2014 Acura TL with ELS system? It seems the 2ohm speaker selection is limited in today's market(I'm old school, ran Sounstream SPL 2ohm components back in the day). What are the 'clearest' 2ohm options, I'm not looking for the 'loudest' but rather an 'audiophile' detailed sound. Thank you in advance.
The factory ELS System is significantly better than the base system so entry level speakers might not be the best choice. I recommend going with something almost audiophile level. Audison has a great pair of 2 ohm speakers that will work with our spacers and work well with the ELS system. You can find out more about them here www.audison.eu/products/apk-165-%CF%892/
S Stream - Nice!! I ran Phoenix Gold amps in my old set-ups and am about the change over slowly'12 TL speakers - Sub, doors, deck and figured the center too. Still on the fence about changing head unit, pref is Pioneer DDin and use the PG's. Correct me if I'm wrong - @AAG - but does it matter if the factory is 2ohm and is replaced w/a 4 ohm, only downside is reduced power but matters none to the amp, since it would run cooler at 4 rather than 2 ohm's, right? @AcuraAudioGarage - great channel, been watching your stuff. You specialize in older 3rd gen Acuras, any chance of posting changes to a 4th gen mod - speakers, amp or sub besides the rear deck?
Rule of thumb is that the bigger the speaker is, the more bass it will produce. This is because you need to move air to produce a louder, deeper low frequency sound. Of course, there are other contributing factors such as resistance and impedance as well as the power output of the speakers. To answer your question, the Pioneers will likely produce more bass than the JBL and Infinity speakers due to the fact that they have higher wattage, double the resistance, and they are larger.
unfortunately no the MDX has an odd shape and our spacer will not line up correctly and leave the speaker to inside the door panel. We are working on a solution but don't have anything available yet.
I have a Honda Accord cw1 elegance (not premium audio). It is equivalent to acura tsx sports wagon. I have made adapters out of the stock speakers and installed JBL stage 2. My question: JBL speakers campe with crossover filter. How is the wiring in the front doors? Looks like tweeter is just a parallell wire from the door speaker.
The ELS system is can bus driven so you will need to grab the output of the factory amplifier and then send it to a DSP and then to your amplifier. You can amplify the speakers "channel by channel" but it will require two 4 channel amps most likely.
