    Thank you SO much for the vids! (from the new owner of a clean 06 F150) I've spent 3 weeks researching and asking questions only to be left more confused and you answered it all in 3 short vids. Great reviews, great to know where my reverse wire is! I know what I will be doing within next couple of weeks!

      My 8200 has been working almost perfect for 4 months. Has a few bugs (nothing major) I emailed Pioneer about to no resolve. Initial update solved some. Glare is a pain in the butt sometimes regardless of tilt but with all that's out there I think this unit was the best choice. So many features I have no use for alot of them.

      Does it work with car factory AM/FM radio at the same time?

      I dont quite understand the question. My factory antenna plugged right in and I have factory + HD radio. Some models may require an adapter cause I believe the unit came with a Chrysler antenna converter cable. I have one sitting around not sure where it came from, I think the AVIC unit

      Do you know if you can also enter just plain cross-streets as a destination in this system's factory GPS? I have the old AVIC-Z120BT, and it is only possible to enter full-blown addresses, not cross-streets like you can do in a Garmin.

    I traded in my 8100 for an 8200. The 8100 had a lot of glitches when using Apple car play. The thing I love about the 8200 is that is has a power off option. The 8100 did not have that.

    • @Whuckfisle
      @Whuckfisle  8 лет назад

      The "power off" feature of the 8200 is definitely an improvement. When you had the 8100 did you upgrade the software to the latest from the Pioneer website?

    I just installed the 8200 Nex in my '12 Tundra CrewMax. It has double the memory of the 8100 (16gb vs. 8gb) but mostly similar features. The UI is a bit complicated. I have to continually go through menus/screens to get to something. It's too distracting while I'm driving. The remote works ok but some buttons don't work. I am trying to familiarize myself.
    This Nav is not as user friendly as a Kenwood and the screen unfortunately washes out during ordinary daylight use. I tried to darken the background but it's still too light. Voice setting is too interruptive of my source material, so I mute it or shut it off. I'm going to try more Nav settings today. Inputs to the Nav are much too slow - I fear something is wrong. I make an input and have to wait for it to register. That's bad. The 8200 was supposed to get a software update in Sept '16 maybe. I have to check on that.
    The sound however is amazing. HD radio sounds crisp. I'm using Boston Acoustic speakers (older model) with manual crossovers. I'm using an 8" sub, bi-amped and a separate amp for remaining speakers. It's pretty darn good to me. Bass is adjustable and crisp. I try to set it and forget it. The sound deadening in the roof and rear bulkhead paid off. I recommend insulation.
    I wish it had a volume knob so I can reach over and turn it down quickly, but that model reduced the screen size by an inch. It's not convenient to flip back and forth to the map while listening to the radio and Nav at same time. Steering wheel controls work fine. My iPhone 6s plus won't connect sometimes. The external mic works well - people can hear me clearly. That's good and I can hear them OK though my sound system.
    I'm not an APP junkie but I need my audio to sound good, not necessarily loud or with too much bass, but audiophile quality. This unit does that and also allows me to run FLAC or WAV files via the card slot which sounds very good. I also use/need Nav daily so the 8200 is presenting me with some problems. I had a portable Garmin which was very simple to use and didn't distract me. I'll update as soon as I get more time in this unit.

      @Whuckfisle  7 лет назад

      Georgia Fan I'm not having the Nav issues you're having. Sounds like there may be an issue with yours. Also, I find pinning my most frequently used functions under the "favorites" tends to help with navigating through several menus

    • @georgiafan6618
      @georgiafan6618 7 лет назад

      I'm concerned about an issue. The blogs say that Pioneer isn't too helpful and I'm not looking forward to getting this unit swapped out should it present a problem. The installer said the 8200 was better than the Kenwood 893s. Your video was helpful!

      The 8200 is absolutely amazing. There are so many controls and functions that make it hands down the best head unit I've ever had. I have it with JL Audio C3 650 components, JL Audio C2 525X coaxials, JL Audio HD 600/4 amplifier, JL Audio HD 750/1 amplifier and two Alpine Type R 10's in a vented enclosure.

    the video could be scripted and this made more concise. Also, there might be a feature aside from the more obvious from one model to another. in last year's models, one or another (android auto vs carplay) had to be chosen in presets. I believe the newer 8200NEX does the switch on the fly. Thanks for help.

    Your video might have just convinced me to swap my Alpine X009 for a Pioneer 8200NEX. The huge 9" screen is impressive in size, but it's almost impossible to see with the convertible top down. You commented that you can still see the screen in direct sunlight although there is, of course, glare on the glossy screen. Do you think it would be viewable in a convertible under the California summer sun?

    • @Whuckfisle
      @Whuckfisle  8 лет назад

      If the 8200 cannot then there is no unit out there that can. Obviously you may struggle if the sunlight is directly on the unit and the reflection of the sun is in your face but in that case just tilt the screen.

      Wow, thanks for the fast reply! Is there some kind of "Day/Night" display mode toggle on this unit? For instance, a white background with dark text for daytime driving, and a black background with white text for nighttime driving? This was one thing that my Ford factory navigation unit handled better than any aftermarket H/U I've seen.

    • @Whuckfisle
      @Whuckfisle  8 лет назад

      +AnalogKid Productions There is a day/night mode which affects brightness in most modes and affects colors in map/Android auto/carplay mode.

      Question on sound quality... how does the Pioneer's SQ compare to recent Alpine and Kenwood units? The best headunit I've ever owned from an SQ standpoint was a Pioneer Premier from back in the early 2000's. I'm wondering if their excellent "house sound" remains.

  • @caderadec.1869

    Have you experienced issue involving the nav not coming up and constantly saying "loading iGo" and then it going back to the homescreen? My radio worked like a charm the first day. The second day on the other hand, it won't stop loading igo and i haven't been able to see the nav come up... there has to be a software issue.

    • @Whuckfisle
      @Whuckfisle  8 лет назад

    • @caderadec.1869

      They don't have anything for the 8200 yet... I went ahead and sent Pioneer a inquiry of the issue. Going to talk to them today and see what we can do... i'd hope they can fix this without me sending it off... it's as if it needs to have it's software image reflashed.

    There is no such thing as "HD radio". HD refers to vision/optics not audio. HiFi refers to audio. It's impossible to listen to HD audio. HD audio is not real. Its simply a marketing term used by various corporations in place of Hi Fidelity/High Resolution. A more correct term for "HD" audio is "HR" audio, High Resolution.
