If all firmware upgrades are applied via usb1 then why doesn't pioneer provide two usb extension cables? Can you connect your android phone via usb1 or Bluetooth to enable Android Auto
I want to install this unit in my 2002 Silverado. Vehicle did not come with GPS. Does this unit come with a GPS antenna or will I need to buy one separately?
I have a 2001 Tahoe. I want to upgrade to this. BUT I WANT TO RETAIN THE OLD SCHOOL CASSETE player that comes w the tahoe. How can it be wired to this stereo so that the cassete player works.
i've had the AVIC 8100NEX for a couple of years. It's quite buggy and sluggish when it comes to CarPlay often losing connection with the iPhone. Is the 8201NEX any better? Did they solve these bugs in that version?
Is there a capacitive screen version without nav / DVD? I just mostly want a responsive CarPlay and music. Was looking at app radio 4, but this thing looks way more responsive and has some nice options
When you said sub woofer input, did you mean output? Also, I have a stick shift car, will I run into any issues on the set up menu because it thinks the car is in motion while in neutral and E-break is on?
I have a couple questions because I'm considering the 8201 or the highest JVC. I want to know if there is a way to have the rear view camera automatically come up when the car is in placed into reverse. I was also wondering, you mentioned it had video like wallpaper options but didn't show them what are they and could you put your own video wallpaper in. Thank you
+Jeremy Amanda Flory there I a purple white wire that connects to the reverse trigger to have the camera turn on. It has 3 moving backgrounds. You can only use regular images for backgrounds.
Hello. Love your videos. They help so much. Do have a couple quick questions. 1. The front/rear rca outputs, do I plug those into the rca inputs on my 4ch amp? Do I then just run the speaker wires directly to the amp? 2. The rear view camera, Will it auto pop up if I have it powered from the backup lights? Is there a better place to power it from? 3. How can I retain the factory aux input? From what IV read the oem aux has 2 different plugs that can't plug straight into the 8200nex.
+John Kuenz 1. Yes the RCAs will plug into the amp. 2. The Purple white wire on the radio plug needs to be connected to the cars reverse trigger( light). 3. We hardwire into the cars factory aux harness to retain them. We have a video for that in the from the install bay playlist.
I was thinking about picking one up but don't like the fact that it seems sluggish and has crappy wvga display that's not even 1080p, so expensive for such a low quality product.
I recently installed the AVIC-8201NEX and I can't get the Android Auto to work with my Samsung Galaxy S8+. It keeps saying the car is in motion but I'm parked in my garage with emergency brake on. Pioneer website suggests several USB Type C cables to use and I've tried them all with no success. Do you have a solution for this?
I tried the bypass with 5 different USB cables listed on Pioneer's website but I'm still getting the same error message. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the AA app and that hasn't worked either. Have you had any customer with the same issue and how did you manage to resolve it? Thank you for your help!!
Question... why would anyone get a unit with navigation if you can just plug your iPhone in and use maps in Apple Auto? Then you wouldn’t even have to worry about the head units nav system being outdated or needing to reload new maps. It’s been 12 years since I bought a head unit and things have changed astronomically. Just seems like a waste of money paying for a nav unit.
The message... You Not selling this device why? Review like this need to have two more needed components a video DYI tutorial installation and an Amazon links.. Why? Because most folks have Amazon credit cards then New Egg credit. Like I said you guys are not trying to sell a product... stay on message.
@Pure Luck im always wondering the same thing. With all these high end phones with great specs...Why cant we have a car radio with the same thing? Seems like it should be simple enough. I wouldnt even mind losing the DVD Player if that was the case. The UI seems clunky
If I bought this head unit I don't need to buy a flip down dvd player. I could just buy a flip down monitor. Since the head unit has a built in dvd player.
why would it piss you off most people don't want that shit on the front sticking out hence why it was moved to the back, run the wire to where ever you want and mount it still keeping that clean look. WIRES = BAD and horrible to look at along with stuff sticking out of the from cables and usb devices.
Tt Ss I don’t want to drill holes or run the wire along trim or weather stripping , and you don’t have to use the ports if they’re included in the front if you don’t want to.
Harjas Singh you need to do serious research cause you are lacking knowledge. There isn’t a factory aux or usb that can’t be retained thus no drilling nothing being run except to the factory outlets. These car guys do it for a living trust me the last thing they are going to do is drill into the inside of a car unless they have to. Second you make no sense cause there is absolutely no reason why a aux cable of a usb would be near the weather stripping.
Wow back in the day "Rear seat entertainment" had a whole different meaning.....
+Digital Artist haha so wrong
Digital Artist now are we talking rear dvd player with wireless headphones riiiiight?
Well......ya know...hmmm...not really. It does involve plug and play....
If all firmware upgrades are applied via usb1 then why doesn't pioneer provide two usb extension cables? Can you connect your android phone via usb1 or Bluetooth to enable Android Auto
can the included camera be used as a front camera, or will it only work on the brown rear camera port?
Daniel Salazar it can be used as a front camera no problem

Hi, I bought a vehicle with one of these decks already programmed in a different language. Do you know how to change the language to English?
I have a

Will the sirrus xm tuner in the 2014 Tundra hook up to this Tuner plug? Havn't seen anything on this! Thanks Danny!

Is it possible to wire this headunit with the car's steering wheel controls and factory usb and aux inputs? And will the gps work in the Philippines?
Can I plug in a wd 1tb portable drive with a. Unch of kid movies to one of the USB ports in the back? And will it display video to rear seat monitors?
@FiveStarCarStereo if my car came with XM radio and I buy the XM tuner for the radio can I still use my Sharkfin radio.
Is there a capacitive screen version without nav / DVD? I just mostly want a responsive CarPlay and music. Was looking at app radio 4, but this thing looks way more responsive and has some nice options
Jesse Jarrar They have one specifically for Apple on their website. Appradio. Check it out
How do i redeem my first free gps update for "Here" on my avic 8200? Just bought it new.
When you said sub woofer input, did you mean output? Also, I have a stick shift car, will I run into any issues on the set up menu because it thinks the car is in motion while in neutral and E-break is on?
+ecromancer yes it is an output. No it does not need to be connected to the transmission. You can also to the vehicle is in motion bypass.
Can i mirror my Iphone X to the screen.
Are there any double din units that have multiple camera inputs? Situation: passenger side right hand turning camera and backup camera?
+Jon Robertson this unit has dual camera input or you can also add the Pac VS41 for multi camera options

Is there another way to connect this radio to speakers without using an amp?
OhGibZ yes just use the oem wires that are on the main harness.
Capacity of SD card and usb this model can support in GB
My 2014 Toyota Highlander already has a back up camera factory; is the camera that comes with this unit better quality, as in should I swap them out?
Bird People Las Vegas I would keep the factory camera. That's what I did with my 2016 Nissan Altima.
Tyrone Long thank you, that is what I did 👍👍
Great review, can the GPS read a map from the SD card?
+T K no
What unit can I buy where I can watch RUclips videos from my unit?

+James Kim you can try the bypass

James Kim have you tried using your adapter with a regular micro usb cable
Is there a single din version of this with a pop out screen? and supports android car play, reverse camera etc.
Nope. Pioneer has single-DIN decks with pop-out displays and DVD playback, but not with CarPlay and Android Auto.
I did some research after.. there is.. AVH 3300NEX. All it needs is dashcam functionality and it would be perfect.
thanks I'm looking for a pioneer double din with surround sound!
+Matthew Whitaker they all only have time correction. If set up right it will sound amazing
Ok Thanks
porque fernado no traduce a español 😣😣😭😭
Does it have surround sound?
+Matthew Whitaker just time correction, no simulated modes.
Hello. The kicker Front row dsp has surround sound

beri232 If you live in a rural area or traveling to and area where Cell services is terrible would be a good reason to have built in Navigation.
Ahhh..... I never thought about cell reception. Good point!
Why is the jvc so kuch cheaper!?

radio seems kinda sluggish.
Ricky H it is one of the faster radios out today. T I believe the Kenwood 893s may be a little faster.
Five Star Car Stereo why does it seem so sluggish? What's the ram specs in it?

Pisses me off on how there isn’t a front usb or aux port.

Harjas Singh you don’t have to drill anything or run anything near weather stripping when you are talking about USB ports in the back
Tt Ss that depends on the car, and same is for the aux port, its better having the ports there rather than running through trim or the glovebox.
