I would love to see a video on mental health through nutrition
Upon watching the video a second time, I think one of the most important parts is the list of “Anti-angiogenesis foods, herbs, and spices” since it is an actionable step that can easily be taken. I wonder what an updated list would also look like.
Amazing pod cast 😊
Thank you for another amazing video. This website has changed my life.
Brocolli papaya onion tofu curry sounds pretty good actually!
Thank you so much for your work, Dr. Greger! You are the best!

❤
I had scrambled tofu (tumeric, black pepper, chilli, cumin, nutmeg, garlic) on rye bread with grilled tomatoes for lunch.
So I see this video as a pat on my back ☺
Unless you're a distance runner trying to develop capillarity in your muscles!
@ralphhancock7449 I'm a long-distance runner and have ZERO issues with "capillarity" in my muscles
Whole rye bread is so good. I make it myself every few days with my own sourdough.
And the rest you had is just a small part of the awesomeness a whole food plant based diet offers
Tofu is feminizing.
That sounds delicious.
OMG cloves are insane. I dont eat it because it's not to my taste but maybe I'll try.
I blend them with soya beans, banana and dates... then add all the spices Dr Greger recommends and pour over breakfast grains. My current favourite is quinoa and amaranth (batch cooked for fridge and freezer).
Dr.Heaven…
Would this effect discourage the growth of muscles?
Hi, @zachcain2639! That's a good question. Unfortunately, as Dr. Greger likes to say, "We don't know, until we put it to the test." I could not find any research on anti-angiogenic foods and skeletal muscle growth. That said, I would not expect these foods to inhibit muscle growth for two reasons. First, it is exercise itself that promotes angiogenesis in muscles to support their growth. Second, there is plenty of research showing that plant-based diets can support a wide variety of athletic pursuits, and may even provide advantages. More on that here: nutritionfacts.org/video/vegetarian-muscle-power-strength-and-endurance/ By contrast, there is also research showing that high-fat diets, such as popular ketogenic diets, can undermine the benefits of exercise. More on that here: nutritionfacts.org/video/keto-diets-muscle-growth-and-bone-density/ I hope that helps!

I take a quercetin supplement because it helps my urinary tract irritation after infection. I wonder if it might be helping with my weight too now.
What brand Re you taking and how much. TY

VEGF deficiency is a very common discovery in diabetes. Cancer is the opposite.
Did I miss tumeric?
Hi, @stevennielsen3252! Turmeric is on the list at 1:25. Everything on our site related to turmeric may be found here: nutritionfacts.org/topics/turmeric/ I hope that helps!

the only problem I see with eating foods rich in genistein is that it has a negative effect on the thyroid.
"Although the overall evidence suggests that isoflavone genistein does not affect adversely thyroid function in euthyroid, iodine-replete individuals, further studies are warranted to better define the relationship between genistein and thyroid."
"Much of the evidence for the goitrogenic effects of isoflavones is derived from experimental in vitro and in vivo studies. Goitrogenic effects were also noted in infants fed non-iodine-fortified, soy-based formula, a problem that was easily solved with iodine fortification. Recent studies suggest that genistein shows a good profile of safety on the thyroid"

Google "Genistein thyroid ncbi" to explore articles from the national library of medicine on the topic of Genistein and thyroid function. Overall, it seems that the concerns have been dismissed after follow up research. Above are a few snippets from three rather comprehensive studies, but you can read more deeply if you wish.
Take iodine
Boil them.
You have to eat way more than normal serving size in a day for weeks straight to have a harmful effect
Genistein improves Hashimoto thyroiditis through regulation of Th1 cytokines. It also inhibits thyroid cancer cell growth.
I'm wondering if in insulin resistance the cells are preventing methionine in,
Not glucose.
Perhaps the body doesn't want to be obese and self regulation is able when the blood has less methionine.
I recently switched from a keto/Aitkin type diet,
To vegan/ low carb
Also while researching I was reading about
Anti angiogensis for cancer fighting
Rats that are designed to get obesity,
Lose weight at the same rate as rats on methionine restriction.
Perhaps something or just a rabbit trail

How come I've been vegan for the past 20 years, I eat all this crap all the time, and I'm still fat? Oh yeah, I walk every day for an hour! Ugh!
People think there aren't fat vegans. There are. I'm not the only one.
I gained weight on a vegan diet. I’ve been vegan for 7 years and I’m 62. I’m a woman. I think that ageing causing slower metabolism and eating a high starch diet caught up with me. Also, olive oil is another culprit. A few months ago, I started my raw food, high-fruit journey. I eat mainly fruit and smoothies during the week, intermittent fast from 8pm until 8 am. On the weekends I have big salads (no oil). I’ve lost 18 pounds in 3 months. After I get down to my goal weight of 120 pounds, I will consider having a cooked dish on the weekend. All I can say is that during the course of the 20 years you mention, your metabolism has definitely slowed down. And eating lots of beans, rice, pasta, potatoes, etc. puts weight on everybody eventually.
I’d say you may be eating too low calories too. Your body has probs gone into famine mode and yeah build muscle like everyone else says. Also it would be a reasonable expectation to say you should take time to loose weight slowly (as that’s how you put it on)
Cut oil also.
You cant expect to undo a life time worth of weight gain in 6mths. Make a goal to make life long changes.
Hope that helps and good luck.
Even without the weight loss eating this way will clear your arteries and that reduces heart attack risk.
Are you Whole Food Plant Based? the Whole Foods part is kind of important. That plus reducing your eating window.
stop eating potato chips and sugar, no white bread.Try fasting one meal a day.
Noooo, stop being so healthy disgusting onions!
Please can I ask a question I went to the gym and then there was a sign on the door saying we are filming you by police officers notice is this not a violation of my right not to be naked as I get changed in the changing room I want to complain please because a work person kept going up to me while I kept minding my own business saying he was excited about me and a week after I reported this I think he decided to control me further by putting cameras to film me I'm scared I don't like it
What is your question? 😅
Time for a new gym! My gym doesn't film.
What a donkey

@@rezlogan4787 plants dont have vitamin k2, E, A, D, B12, choline, all animal nutrients that are not easily coverted from their plant forms in the human body. It takes on average 12 grams of k1 to create 1 gram of k2. K2 deficiencies are the #1 cause of preventable blindness. Veganism is bad for the environment because it relies on chemical fertilizers and monocrops. Without animal input (manure) you must use chemical fertilization which destroys the earth. The vegan agenda is a half baked idea born out of the emotional perspectives of childless liberal women and is a completely illogical , antihuman, movement with terrible repercussions. If they could press a button and make everyone vegan they would, and we would all starve and go blind. Look at vegan children and tell me they dont look starved. Its child abuse. Compare vegan children to non vegan children and tell me who looks healthier. They might be over weight but it's better than being skinny, pot belly, dark eye cycles. All based off of the demonization of animal foods which started and is continued by studies bought by lobbyists from processed food corporations in order to switch human beings from their natural diets (animal based) to one that is more profitable for the Corp. (plant based).
@@rezlogan4787 These kind of "people" (the same under Greger's tweets) and their lack of argument convinced me to go vegetarian/vegan.
