When I got to the "verify you have the right parts" section, I remembered a story from one of my instructors while I was in college. They were working on a rear wheel drive customer vehicle and it was in need of a new knuckle. They had looked up the part and everything seemed right so they ordered it. Knuckle arrived and everything fit on, but no matter what they did, alignment was always off. Turns out the car was also available in AWD as well, and the two knuckles were very similar. They never told us what car it was so we could keep an eye out for that specific one, but it still gave us enough to go on since everyone likes getting work done right the first time rather than a second or third time. Closest I got to that was a Toyota Tacoma prerunner that needed a sway bar end link and may or may not have needed lower ball joints, I cannot remember too well (while in the same college). If I remember right, the service information said to verify what knuckle we had if it was either over or under a certain month of production as they had simplified production to always use the 4WD knuckles on the front even on RWD only models and this one had exactly that. note: Found the RO from the college program before I sent this, I had saved. It was lower ball joints and a sway bar end linkage (bolt had come loose and hammered the threads flat so you couldn't tighten it back on) sway bar was the last thing we were able to figure out. "clicking from dashboard on passenger side of vehicle" we couldn't replicate it while driving, but managed to replicate it in the shop when one of the other students leaned on the car and we heard the click while standing in front of it and started bouncing the car to find the source. Although my family is a GM family, that Tacoma felt pretty nice to drive.

@@bryancline8893 There is a good amount of overlap between marine and aviation. Both need to be sealed everywhere, both run on higher rpms with less focus on torque. The main difference in aviation though is that their engines are specifically made for aviation. While boat engines started off as more truck engines modified to marine use. Without the same challenges as aircraft, marine has stayed closer to trucks while aviation had to overcome things like getting cold at higher altitude, less oxygen up there, the chance of rolling and flipping over entirely.

Easy like for the Tommy Boy reference. Loved the way they were able to play off each other like that on the spot. Angelina is the GOAT and super easy on the eyes.
These videos always remind me of my brother's old Buick. The guy who owned it thought himself an "amateur mechanic". He used so much duct tape where it shouldn't be, used an undersized battery that wobbled about, and WELDED A TRUCK EXHAUST system to the car. That car ran low and was already heavy as hell. The exhaust scraped on every single road and eventually got partially ripped off. Thankfully the car was eventually taken and parked for scrap. That car was a disaster....
Replaced the plenum gasket on my 97 ram 1500. A year later I swapped the motor, and when I took the intake off, found a rag I had placed over the spider bracket to prevent debris falling to the cam.
little correction for the 4wd bearing on a 2wd car: bearings with a transmission going through them usually need the bolt from that transmission to hold the outside half to the inside one. so in this case, even with correct size, the side that you wrench or press mount will hold, but the outside part wont be hold by anything and just be teared away by the wheel
This channel is off the chart entertaining! Love Angelina and Sandro's reactions and commentaries. This was the channel that finally pushed me to get a membership in the Donut Underground. Great work, y'all! 💯🔥😁
I just last weekend pay a tire shop to install large off road tires on my truck. I bought before hand a reputable set of hubcentric wheel spacers that would require them to cut 1/4 inch off the oem wheel studs, but instead cutting they punched in the studs. Of course they also did not tighten the studs, so the wheels were just dangling in the wind.
When I bought my 1970 Roadrunner, the person who I got it from left a rag in the oil pan. I found it cause it had no pressure. It wrapped around the pickup tube.

I do 90% of my own repairs, and 100% of my own 'daily' maintenance. right now, im fixing all the 'make it look pretty' repairs the dealership did to the 2014 4runner i bought last year. To include a Bondo repair on the oil pan, a bondo repair to the leaky master cylinder, bondo on the main brakeline. Four rotors that were clearly just polished to look new, and 4 new calipers that had been WELDED to the mounts. Had to re-thread just about every bolt hole i needed to put a bolt in. My neighbor is a retired mechanic, and one of the best compliments he can give is 'id put you to work in my shop' when it comes to owner repairs on cars. Hes said it to me a few times. Next challenge is going to be finding someone to rebuild my transmission and rear-diff.

7:55 Cross Pressure Tightening is actually something I have learned from the PC world ! (Threadripper to be more specific) and 2 years ago now on my little brother's BMW M30 when he was having deep dish wheel problems I actually suggested "hey they suggest this in the PC world so you should actually try Tightening them in a Cross Pattern Style" But I will also say the past year or so of working on my car, If I were being super honest its fairly easy to forget when you want to get that wheel off and back on again and get back to working on other things !
They mentioned tools left in an engine. I used to work weapons systems on F4s and F15s back in the 1970s and 1980s. We had to inventory our tools after every job on an airplane. Yeah, I know military discipline is a bit different from civilian, but to this day, I ALWAYS make sure I don't leave them lying around.
Your PSA about being careful reminds me of the time I was swapping out the front lenses on my Toyota Solara. Sometime during the process, I noticed some weird back pain, it ended up being two hyenated disc in my lower back from bending over the car and crawling in under it. I don’t know of any machine operator, Mechanic, or other skilled workers in physical labor intensive jobs that don’t have back problems, it comes with the territory.
The problem with that wheel bearing isn’t clearance it would fit the hub no matter what. The problem is that there’s no axle or stub to hold the thing together it was basically holding on with the seals and a whole lot of luck haha.
Finding a good mechanic is not easy. I’m an ex mechanic with 10 years experience, though I’m out of the industry now due to an injury. I had to find a new mechanic for myself after my regular mechanic retired. Found a well reviewed German specialist (for my Audi & VW). Told them I’m a former Audi A tech, turned out the owner worked for the same dealer as me a year after I left. Brought my Audi in for maintenance and everything seemed fine. When I bought a mk5 GTI I decided to tune it right away and brought it with all the parts. A day after getting the car back on the highway at 80mph I started getting a bad vibration, so I limped the car home. Found both front wheels weren’t tightened. After finding a new mechanic, had him look over all the work done and found nothing was tightened. My new exhaust was about to come apart, all the bolts on my new axle were starting to back out, clutch wasn’t done right, etc. Thank god I did my own brakes. Turns out my Audi was worked on by their senior tech, the GTI was given to the most junior tech because he was a GTI enthusiast. 🤦🏼♂️
The mechanics you guys bring on are amazing. I would love to learn from all of them. Also, I have lost more skin off my hands working on tanks in the Army... I felt that clip.
I found tools a bunch of times on cars i worked on. A nice snap on swivel socket on the exhaust nut to the manifold lol. Craziest thing i found? Well i used to work on exclusively police cars in MA, had a car come in, wipers not working. Found HUNDREDS of bullet shells in the cowl lol. My worst injury? Was doing rear ebrake shoes, prying it with needle nose pliers, they slipped, went thru my eye lid and hit my eye. Had a headache for 3 days but luckily enough, no eye damage. Always wear your safety glasses kids.
A year or two ago I took my 1998 Dodge Dakota to a shop a block or two from my house to get my power steering leak repaired, I ended up coming back to them 3 different times for a fix that should've taken one time. they did not deliver and I finally got around to getting my power steering repaired a month ago at a different more reputable shop and it was a automatic fix! I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING YET! and I work pizza delivery daily driving my truck for work so I know the fix was good! the first shop couldnt give me a straight answer on what was wrong with it so I automatically should've taken it elsewhere! the second one automatically found and solved the problem and let me know what it was! What was the problem? it was the Rack and pinion.. Glad I found these new guys!
0:421:43 (and all the others) Thank you. I know enough about automobiles to let a certified mechanic perform all the work on my automobile. I do enjoy learning how the world works, and want to be more knowledgeable. I appreciate the explanations.
I'm self employed doing heavy/farm equipment repairs, and fix my own trucks but don't do cars or trucks for customers. This is the first time I've watched the channel, and If I was looking to hire one of these mechanics I'd say it would be Angelina There is something about her personality and confidence comes over real strong, to be honest the guy just comes over like some of the guys in my local auto shop I really don't have the time of day for. Angelina saying later that she teaches makes perfect sense of the difference between the 2, way to go girl. I have no problem with female mechanics if you can do the job, and aren't just a poster child filling a position because it looks good for the company. 10 of us carried a girl through our course during school in 1990 so she didn't look a total failure with no grade. Sadly she really just wasted a course spot somebody else like Angelina that was going to succeed didn't get. Take care guys.
Love the comment about testing the mechanic. I've worked in automotive parts for over 6 years and I 100% think this is a good idea. Normally a paint marker spot or something under the edge of an air filter is a simple and easy check (please don't put it on the filter paper itself). Often have things like air filters come back from dodgy mechanics. You know they took a look went "ah its not too bad" used an air gun to 'blow out' the filter then charged the customer for replacing the filter and returned it to their parts supplier.
7:35 Pro tip. Star pattern with electric bolt gun that has hammer function. When the nut / bolt stops turning, then it is tight enough. The bolts and nuts are designed so that they lock up so to speak when they hit the correct torque the nut or bolt won't budge anywhere without breaker bar or power tools. And the next tightness from that is cut off bolt shaft.
About the rag forgotten inside the engine… I’ll be honest with you guys… I did too😂 In the classic cars shop I used to work in the past we had a crazy season with a flood of customers from sort of all types of maintenances… Then one customer brought an Range Rover. Typically V8 engine with gaskets leaking between its banks. Soo after I took the intake out the day was sooooo busy I had to stop my work at that point, but the car was sitting outdoors and windy, then I had an stupid idea to fill the ports with a clean pieces of rag to protect against dust… Then next day of hell of customers sweating and running here and there it has come the time to put the parts together… Then when I was starting the car… Total disaster! I FORGOT THE FU**ING PIECES OF RAG… I had two days cleaning valves, push rods checking if where rods damage or valves… Luckily the old two valves V8 engines are strong, if was an 32 valves nowadays engine probably damaged valves… What a horrible day…

Angelina and Sandro are Literally the reason I watch these mechanics reacts vids.
I've worked on cars especially on my Jeeps but I am a Tattooist not someone who normally watches car repair videos but these two are 🔥
I'm an aircraft mechanic and I am HOOKED on this new channel. I may work on turbine engines but this shit is still so relatable and funny. Plus I actually end up learning things. PLEASE keep this channel going!
i feel like there’s some overlap between aircraft mechanics and automotive mechanics
@@misseselise3864 yeah, the turbines on cars are just a leeetle smaller😂😂😂😂
@@misseselise3864 I figure there's more overlap with a boat mechanic.
@@Samuri5hit84 Wel until you get to the super large marine diesels. Those things are just weird, (in a good way).
I love that you guys use animations whenever things are explained. Thank you! :)
i absolutely *love* Angelina and Sandro and they add so much to this series! Keep bringing them back for more please!!
I’m so glad I grew up with a dad who’s a master mechanic. Always kept my piece of shits on the road, and taught me how not to get screwed by shotty mechanics
I know very little about car repair, but I've recently discovered these videos and have been enjoying them. Nice work!
Easy like for the Tommy Boy reference. Loved the way they were able to play off each other like that on the spot. Angelina is the GOAT and super easy on the eyes.
That last clip was spot on. I've found this message on several pieces of hvac equipment. Cheers to the mechanics looking out for the next guy!
This channel is so good, I’d love to see some of the mechanics from this channel appear on Donut for a video 🤙
They all started with a series of vids on Donut. You can find them there.
@@bigduginc I know, but I’d like to see them come back for one of those guess the price videos, or for a engine breakdown video.
little correction for the 4wd bearing on a 2wd car: bearings with a transmission going through them usually need the bolt from that transmission to hold the outside half to the inside one. so in this case, even with correct size, the side that you wrench or press mount will hold, but the outside part wont be hold by anything and just be teared away by the wheel
Thank you sir. I am not even a journeyman wrencher but I thought I heard Eric O. mention that some wheel bearings are held together by the axel.
You see it when people remove a broken cv to get home and the bearing collapses on the way
This channel is off the chart entertaining!
I've been turning wrenches on cars (not as employment) for about 45 years and this channel by far is so awesome. It's truly amazing some of the stupid Chit some people do🤣. Keep this awesome content coming, all of us gear heads love it👊
I do 90% of my own repairs, and 100% of my own 'daily' maintenance.
right now, im fixing all the 'make it look pretty' repairs the dealership did to the 2014 4runner i bought last year.
@@dreamwolf7302 The struggle is real 👊 working on my 99 Dodge 1500 4x4 right now, New SS brake lines then moving on to rebuild of the steering gearbox. But it's not really work if you enjoy doing it 😁
@@patrickdiehl6813 Oof, i know the Ram Struggle my guy, my last truck was a 2014 Ram 1500 Crew.
My Electronic Control Module managed to short out in a way that didnt blow the fuse, but rather welded it into place.
All my pumps, my regulators, etc, either seized up, or burned out.
I had the option of spending almost 20k to fix a truck worth less than 10k, or trading it in.
Got my 4Runner, and while im not pleased with the dealership for covering the defects, none of them are so severe i cant fix them with a bit of elbow grease, and youtube.
Their is a socket set to remove stripped lug nuts and they work well for most wheel lug locks to remove them when you lost the lug key.
Yep they are basically socket versions of an e-z out. Reverse thread on the inside.
They work on the collared lock nuts too, as long as you can get the collar off first.
Ya, i forget if they were the best on @project farm
Priceless content he does! 😃
Such a great series. it's great to see the professionals point of view on a lot of these situations and of course the donut crew
7:55 Cross Pressure Tightening is actually something I have learned from the PC world ! (Threadripper to be more specific) and 2 years ago now on my little brother's BMW M30 when he was having deep dish wheel problems I actually suggested "hey they suggest this in the PC world so you should actually try Tightening them in a Cross Pattern Style"
But I will also say the past year or so of working on my car, If I were being super honest its fairly easy to forget when you want to get that wheel off and back on again and get back to working on other things !
The friggen Tommy Boy reference lmaoooo ohh mahh gawdd
Go get them Callahan brake pads😂
I love the dynamic these guys all have with each other, good content
I love watching you, good advice and fun reactions.
A torque wrench by the way is much cheaper than losing your wheel in a curve.
I learned that lesson the hard way as a dumbass young 20 year old.
@@adafrost6276 I made some bad decisions too.
Best episode yet! Was a great balance of comedy and education
Thanks for your service !
This is my favorite segment on the tubes. Angelina and Sandro are awesome, keep em' coming!
Sandro is such an OG it would be cool to just hang with the dude. He's one of the boys.
The problem with that wheel bearing isn’t clearance it would fit the hub no matter what. The problem is that there’s no axle or stub to hold the thing together it was basically holding on with the seals and a whole lot of luck haha.
Thought I was the only one
Exactly, she was going on about heat and clearance and I was thinking, theres was nothing to holding it together.
@@ethanskinner2205 same
@@ravenexishe may be thinking rubbing and friction...because it will effing wiggle like a jello. 😂 but that's all I can think of.
Absolutely love the "Tommy Boy" reference with the meat wagon
Your contact is amazing it's a lot of fun watching Santos and Angelina's reactions to these so-called repairs
This series is something I look most forward to on RUclips.
This is a great show by Donut but Angelina and Sandro really make it.
Doing it for the boys.
These two are awesome! I love watching their reactions to mechanical mayhem! It's awesome.
Glad you started this channel, and series!

Love the Tommy Boy reference and how it took me the second time of watching this episode to realise, the desktop demo scene. 😂
You can tell Angelina is a pro the way she plays with the toys. She even knows the sound. Respect !!
Yall killed me at 9:45 ish. replaced my brake rotors yesterdays and as i was breaking the caliper bolts i knuckled busted tf outta my driveway 😂
Angelina & Sandro are my favorite guests! Keep these videos coming donut🤘
See thru brake lines are great! You can tell right away if they’re bled properly 😂
Then try glass tubing at least. 🤣
It's a "fake" video, in that they did it on purpose and then put it on line as if it was a real mistake 😂
The mechanics you guys bring on are amazing. I would love to learn from all of them. Also, I have lost more skin off my hands working on tanks in the Army... I felt that clip.
I just want to go have some beers with sandro and angelina and listen to stories. they are very cool peeps!
Angelina should be a regular. Loved hearing her speak
Fuuuuk that hurt to read
Loving the channel guys. Love to see a react to "if it works it works" repairs. Some of those are hilarious. And dangeous.
James and Angelina got me with the Tommy Boy reference 😂 😂 😂
2:40 Tommy boy love it😂😂😂😂
I wish Angelina was my teacher
If i saw a secret note from a tech stashed away like that, i would basically have the same reaction.
0:42 1:43 (and all the others) Thank you. I know enough about automobiles to let a certified mechanic perform all the work on my automobile. I do enjoy learning how the world works, and want to be more knowledgeable. I appreciate the explanations.
Your back and forth is hilarious in this video! Love the work everyone puts in to produce these vids. Thanks!
Totally agree with you.
Sandro looks like a fun guy to work on cars with fr.
Sandro and Angelina are great! James... you cannot forget about that guy, has me laughing at all times!
This channel is legit, good job!!

Pro tip.
Star pattern with electric bolt gun that has hammer function. When the nut / bolt stops turning, then it is tight enough. The bolts and nuts are designed so that they lock up so to speak when they hit the correct torque the nut or bolt won't budge anywhere without breaker bar or power tools. And the next tightness from that is cut off bolt shaft.
these videos have become a routine part of my work day on thursdays.
Sandro and Angelina are the best two mechanics you ever have in these episodes. Plus shes adorable... when she smiles I melt
13:54 is no one gonna talk about this dudes eyes? XD
Wish Angelina and Jerimiah hooked up ❤
Both funny AF
Found Jerimiah's alt account
Love you guys, totally impressed. Showing my son tonight Mechanics I in high school. El estilo estupendo.
About the rag forgotten inside the engine…
I’ll be honest with you guys…
I did too😂
In the classic cars shop I used to work in the past we had a crazy season with a flood of customers from sort of all types of maintenances…
Then one customer brought an Range Rover. Typically V8 engine with gaskets leaking between its banks.
Soo after I took the intake out the day was sooooo busy I had to stop my work at that point, but the car was sitting outdoors and windy, then I had an stupid idea to fill the ports with a clean pieces of rag to protect against dust…
Then next day of hell of customers sweating and running here and there it has come the time to put the parts together…
Then when I was starting the car…
Total disaster! I FORGOT THE FU**ING PIECES OF RAG…
I had two days cleaning valves, push rods checking if where rods damage or valves…
Luckily the old two valves V8 engines are strong, if was an 32 valves nowadays engine probably damaged valves…
What a horrible day…
