That is my father James William Walsh aka dave interviewed at Spencer Street station in Melbourne after the sinking of the Canberra. His mother ( my grandmother ) is sitting behind him. He passed away in 1988.
Thanks for the upload mate. Brings back alot of memories even though I served in the RAN over 20 years after this was made. One thing I notice though is these old documentaries never covered the Clearance Diving teams.
My father Stoker Maurice Graves was on board "Sydney" in 1917, when it fought a duel with a Zeppelin in the North Sea. Both ran out of ammunition and then retired honourably from "the field of battle". We have a bomb fragment from that duel.
just an excellent production with some excellent personnel featured. A great story-telling of the early Navy with those that were there, many now sadly crossed the bar. Narrated by the XO from HMAS Ambush (those that know, know)
It gives me great joy to see that the Royal Navy is the best in Europe. God bless her majesty the Queen and the Royal Navy and it's offspring the Royal Australian Navy.. Wolf Zillessen Midshipman RAN Thanks be to GOD the father and his son Jesus Christ for everything
