I like to watch these videos because I like to get into the mind of avid readers. I am approaching the point to where I think I might understand some of it. Maybe some readers like to read more for the escapism, going into another world, new worlds and building with ever series of books. I understand that feeling, I don't know how to describe it, but different genres, books, authors all have some unique feeling behind them. I speculate that the fantasy and sci-fi, more imaginiative than realist fiction, are more fun to read for some readers just because of that. I am going off your thoughts of The Old Man and the Sea by Hemmingway. You were more like, I appreciate it, it's ok. I appreciate fiction like that more than fantasy, though The Lord of the Rings trilogy is among my favorites of all books, period. My question for you to understand more would be to ask, what do you think of Sanderson's prose? I just watched Jake's (Nerd Level Rising) video where he likes Brandon Sanderson and his books, but prefers complex Wurtsian prose. Is Wurtsian a real word yet? Just wanted to know, as Sanderson has stated that he likes to write accessable simple fiction for a broader audience. Maybe it is the fact that The Old Man and the Sea is about a simple man fishing, with no magic, dragons, or Chtlulu's or other LEviathans to rise up out of the ocean to eat him. Not that that wouldn't make a good stroy, though. Lol
@@momo_genX I think sandersons prose has a lot to offer. It’s concise while also complex, simple while offering nuance. It’s a perfect balance I think which is what has allowed him such commercial success. I personally enjoy a writer like Erikson who actually has a style that I think is rather accessible, but others may not in how he weaves a story together. There is a lot of nuance that goes into forming a narrative. And prose is the bottom level. But a highly valuable and interesting level which can be broken down to the word.
