      @@bridgethegapreactions So many people she has collaborated with have commented on how strong she is at creating melodies (and lyrics). As you said, she has written the vast majority of the melodies that she has sung over the years and she's extremely good at it. Check out Ellie Lawson's "Inside Out" for a completely different take on the backing track (she wrote a new melody and lyrics over the backing track that was originally created by William Orbit with input from Madonna).

    • @CrystalCoffin
      @CrystalCoffin Год назад +2

      Again, stop with the unnecessary, rude, annoying, condescending "not the best singer" bit. Why can't you just say that her delivery is amazing? Isn't that enough? Do you even do the same type of rude comments on OTHER artists?

    • @ilythiaAO
      @ilythiaAO Год назад

      @@CrystalCoffin Firstly - don't tell me what to do or not. You are in no position to do that; nor ever will. She is not the best singer - That is a FACT, but she can still deliver more than most singers, emotionally. Is it so hard for your thick skull to take that in? I was not being rude at all. I was being honest. So stop trying to be something you are obviously not. And fyi; I have been a fan of Madonna since early 90s - I am not some random shithead (like you) who can't grasp the reality. And yes - NOW I was rude. Let that sink in and move on.

Gorgeous video and her voice is just divine as she'd been vocal training for Evita. Arguably my favourite ballad of hers other than Oh Father!

    I agree that this 2000 soundtrack song is beautiful and lovely-but so was Madonna. She radiated an aura of matured calmness and fulfillment that was different from her early to mid-90s image. She’d carry through this look the next 6 years that included: the Drowned World tour(2001); Re-Invention tour (2004); and the Confessions tour(2006). Really appreciate your insightful reactions to her music and artistry.

    Lyrically the song is better understood by reference to the film’s plotline. After a drunken one-night-stand with gay best friend Rupert Everett, Madonna finds herself pregnant and they decide to have the child and raise him together. Turns out child is actually not Everett’s at all but Michael Vartan’s, and it deals with an issue commonly affecting many same sex couples where one isn’t biologically or legally related to a child but has raised it since birth. Like much of Madonna’s work, it’s a little ahead of its time and also like much of her work, just being “Madonna” literally overshadows it and becomes a circus. Despite being the late John Schlesinger’s last film, it’s not great, is poorly written, self indulgent, and for the most part, badly acted (though Madonna has the odd good scene). Likewise, the supporting cast (Lynn Redgrave, Josef Sommer, Illeana Douglas, et al) are just wasted. Anyway, the point is, Madonna knows the kid is not Everett’s but he’s the “next best thing” and she really doesn’t wanna take up with Vartan, but instead marry Benjamin Bratt, which is what precipitates the whole custody issue.

    When an artist has this kind of unknown gem in their catalog you know they are the real deal. Madonna isn't given enough credit for her great discography, i mean she is known for her club classics but i could argue that her best songs are actually ballads, for example.
