The storage thing should be a little more clear. An external HDD (or even an external SSD I believe) is not simply a flat out storage expansion. It's going to be severely limited, e.g. you can't play PS5 games off of those drives. If you want an actual storage boost there's an M.2 SSD expansion slot in the console - that's the real deal, not your old Seagate 500GB HDD plugged in via USB-A. TLDR, if you want a real storage expansion, get an M.2 SSD - re-using your old PS4's HDD for your PS5 isn't the smart DIY ultimate cheap storage solution it's made out to be in this vid.
I just got mine too! One piece of info that I sorta wish I knew before I bought a 5tb HDD, but the PS5 will only play PS5 titles on a SSD, and in particular a M.2 SSD. Make sure you get one of those! It does have a slot for an internal SSD, just pop the outside panel off and you can slot one in, a 1tb SSD is gonna run between $100-$200 tho, as you want to ensure it's the right kind AND has a heatsink. You can always add a heating for cheaper but I'm overly cautious.
Game share is a crazy thing cuz I swear ever since it became a thing, we could all find a friend and pay half price for every game, but most of us just too lazy 😂
I never thought about the hard drive in my PS4 and using it as an external. Falcon bro. You are soooo clutch!!!! And I bought exactly the case that you had on screen 😆 UPDATE: the disassembly and reassembly into the orico hard drive enclosure was so simple! I RUclipsd everything lol thanks FALCON!

I love the option to turn off all audio super quickly! Sometimes there are situations where I need to mute everything quickly and instead of muting the controller and turning off my sound bar hitting that button quickly is the best!
#3 really surprised me. Ultrawide resolution is one of the main reasons why I've been playing the Sony titles on PC. Now I won't have to wait a couple years for PC ports of my favorite PS5 games (HZD: Forbidden West being a prime example).
It doesn’t work in most cases. You need a newer Ultrawide monitor. I’ve been a regular on Reddit trying to find a solution. My setup still has bars or stenches the crap out of the pic. 1440 p update does not work for most Ultrawide. Only a few with newer hdmi inputs. 2.1 does NOT work
I just watched the video, got excited by this because my downfall to gaming on my monitor is not enjoying the black strips of my screen not being utilised. Tried it and I could only change my aspect ratio and it didn't look great in game 😔
Don't get too excited. It still stretches it and doesn't look very good. It may be a game by game basis but I've only played all the major releases for ps5 (I mainlyvplay pc ultraeide) and none of them natively support ultrawide. You either deal with black bars or stretched image. And imo the black bars are better. I ended up buying a 2nd moniter to play ps5 on for this reason. Edit: and an additional tip if you are planning on purchasing a 16:9 moniter for the ps5. Get one that will support the playstations vrr feature.
Omg! The icon reordering is such a good one. When I got the ps5 first, I loved the idea, but you're right. I've been wishing the power button was closer. And there's others I don't even use.
The power button is closer. It’s on the far right. By default it takes you to the home icon on the far right. You only have to move it once to the left and it’ll jump all the way to the right. It’s literally one move
Out of all those tricks and tips videos for your ps5 console out there, here is few tips i didn't knew about(like browser one) and i've been using ps5 for almost a year now... Great video, tnx!
FYI Number 9 on this list is also possible on PS4 for people who may have tried it with say a family member, but it can sometimes when you travel your PS4 to different internet locations end up needing you to restore licenses, and the way around those issues is from the "Primary PS4" setting also under Account just for PS4. Hope that helps for anyone still not able to get their hands on a PS5.
Yea that was a pretty big oversight for them to include that here. It mostly does not work on a good amount of older uw monitors with hdmi 2.1 or older
There is no true ultrawide support. The bonus here is simply that native 3440x1440 UW monitors can display 1440p 16:9, but no games will give you 21:9 or expanded FOV like on PC.
I would appreciate if I can get steered in the right direction I would like to upgrade to a PS5 however is a couple things that I'm concerned about. 1. how good is the upscale for a PS4 game played on PS5 if you're still stuck with not the newest TV? Number two how much better would the PS4 games be once I convert them to PS5 if I'm still on the same older TV?
From what I've seen, you will notice the frame rate more, the games look a little sharper, but they play a lot smoother due to the enhanced frame rate per second. My friend tends to use the higher frame rate per second (60-120 fps) over the graphical setting as he's also gone from PS4 to PS5 whilst still on the same t.v (1080p) and I've played it a fair bit also with him. You do notice the improvement (on ps5) with the lighting effects, shadow, shine, reflection etc all look that bit better. But for example Gran Turismo 7 we were playing it on higher frames per second setting (as opposed to 4k due to his already impressive t.v being 1080p) and you will notice how the games seem so much smoother/fluid... Hope this clears things up a little for you. Happy gaming (I'm planning on getting a PS5 soon myself, but I'm quite happy also with my ps4slim).

Edit: The ultrawide is not true ultrawide 21:9 aspect ratio. Most of what I've found online talks about stretching out the display on an ultrawide, and some monitors being able to "intelligently" not distort and stretch the image. If I'm wrong and there is true ultrawide 21:9 support, please let me know how to use it Did not know about the mute audio and ultrawide feature. Glad I watched this!
If you play alot of FPS shooters, I'd recommend turning vibration & adaptive triggers off. They're pretty hard on controllers, save it for single player games. I'm already on my third controller. Never had this problem with the Dual Shock 4's.
I have not broken a controller but i agree they are hard on it. After a few months my controller was making noise while rumbling. I turned the intensity of triggers down though. Not too worried if it breaks any time soon as I still have a warranty. I don't even like the triggers tbh, just using it for the sake of it
Yeah, my first one had a loose RT trigger which I eventually fixed by replacing the broken spring in it. The second one was decent but the vibration in the left handgrip got really rough and didn't sound or feel right. I like the adaptive triggers in single player games if they don't overdo it. I thought they were cool in Ratchet & Clank.
Didn't know about the muting that's so insanely useful because I often play muted and when I mute my TV(unless it was turned on already muted) it will show a big MUTED thing in the corner. With this way that doesn't happen and it's more convenient than finding my remote.
This gets a like just for the mute info. I watch RUclips regularly on my PS and not having to have my TV remote readily available to mute ads is a godsend!
While I didn't have any interest in owning an actual PS5, I mostly just watched the video because it was a gameranx. Main reason being, I'm a widescreen gamer and consoles are known to be locked to 16:9. It would be neat if it can run games at 32:9, which is pretty much just half of a 4k picture at 3840x1080. While this is another can of worms, it's neat none-the-less and I never would have known otherwise. Cheers!
The motion controls for typing has returned from PS4 which is a blessing because typing with the D-pad or analog sticks is so bad compared to motion controls
Gameranx may not be like the best most creative channel but I love them so much they are my comfort channel when everything changes Falcon and Jake are there
Okay, the cache clearing I needed to know about. My PS5 has been stuttering in loading screens and main menus like in Crossout and PSO2NGS. And recently it had an issue with randomly disconnecting from the internet, which was actually solved by restarting it.
Wow I pretty much knew everything here apart from the console sharing thing! So if I link with my friend who pretty much buys every big release day one, I'll never need to buy another game? 😂
You could just plug wired headphones into the controller headphone Jack and the sound comes out from them only and not the tv, then you don’t have to mute it. You might have to change something in the options there are videos online how to do that, it’s just 1 option on either sound or controller settings I can’t remember anymore I always check it when I get to a new console
On the note of scrolling all the way over to the right for the power settings, if you have power settings to its default location, instead of scrolling all the way to the right all if you have to do is hit left once to get there
Fun fact about the console sharing is, that you can actually share your account with more than just 1 or 2 ps5 consoles. I share my account with 3 of my friends and they share it with me and we play each other’s games. Yes sometimes it’s shows a lock, meaning the console thinks you don’t own the game. All you have to do then is go on your friends account ( you downloaded the game from) ,restore the license and again enable console sharing
I snagged one a couple months after launch, and this is the first I've heard of the controller long press mute lol Thanks for the helpful info on top of the regularly awesome content
I had a 2 gig externals storage and brought it over to my PS5 and it's a savior I just got my PS5 so I'll be upgrading the internal soon. It's gonna save me about 100 bucks too since I won't need more gigs Internal I'll only need a 1 gig
Finally got a PS5 for Xmas after 3 years. Got to use it for about 5 days at my mom’s house before I had to box it back up, so she can ship it to me because there was no way I was taking it on the plane. Hopefully, I will have it back by the end of this week because I’m already missing it 😢. I figured out a couple of these pretty quickly; like switching between games and media, as well as customizing the PS pop-up menu. I will definitely be using the external HD feature. Having filled up my new console storage with a bunch of PS4 games, since downloading them via the internet at my mom’s went hundreds of times faster than the lousy internet I have. I’ll be able to reclaim a few hundred gigs that way. 👍
I love these videos, because I like to see which trick that I actually do know so I test myself against the videos you guys post. Thanks for helping me confirm that im good at figuring shit out lol.
Wait there's external ps5 storage extenders? I was told they could hold ps5 games nor games upgraded to the ps5 version. Do they work like that now because I need more storage but all my games are ps5.
I've had a PS5 since launch and finally was able to surprise my sons with one this past Christmas. I signed in my account on theirs and did the share games option. But when I tried playing games on my main console, I got a licensing issue and couldn't play any game.
The PS5 is a beast of a console. It's no coincidence Microsoft stopped claiming most powerful console, I put them side by side, everything tested on same screen same environment. The PS5 ran everything I tried better, with better audio as well. Not to mention the exclusives are some of the best looking games you can play
You can sign into multiple PS5s with the same account without being kicked off the others. That means as long as you don't open a PS5 game on both or a PS4 game on both you can have 2 games open at once. You can really mess with things if there is a PS4/PS5 game that has crossplatform play to create 2 instances of yourself in an online game.
You can get full screen in the browser. Press the options button, and you’ll have a choice between full screen or pin to side. I watch RUclips while playing games.
Sony likes to take 1 step forward ( better graphics amd load times ) and 2 steps back ( limited games on home screen, hidden web browser, inability to charge controller on anything other than the console, poorly designed OS/ UI etc.)
Anyone who hasnt seen the Roblox_Oof video seen in the twitter feed, I'd highly recommend it. I don't even like Roblox but without giving away any spoilers - that video is absolutely wild and 100% worth a watch. Also, great content as always Gameranx!

This gets a like just for the mute info. I watch RUclips regularly on my PS and not having to have my TV remote readily available to mute ads is a godsend!
That console sharing feature is a great idea! I'm surprised Sony would even do something like that.
1st thing I did with my PS5 was disable the on screen voice. OMG that is annoying! 😬
Just set up my PS5 and loaded it up with my games and saves from my PS4, so great timing for me to find this video. Thanks, Falcon!
Gameranx may not be like the best most creative channel but I love them so much they are my comfort channel when everything changes Falcon and Jake are there
OMG thank you Gameranx I just discovered the PS5 does have a media player app installed! This is awesome!
Man, that tip on how to move the power button was top notch. I hated scrolling through the entire toolbar every time!
Okay, the cache clearing I needed to know about. My PS5 has been stuttering in loading screens and main menus like in Crossout and PSO2NGS. And recently it had an issue with randomly disconnecting from the internet, which was actually solved by restarting it.
I currently have no feasible way of procuring a console or decent pc for gaming, but these videos come close and they help
Wow I pretty much knew everything here apart from the console sharing thing! So if I link with my friend who pretty much buys every big release day one, I'll never need to buy another game? 😂
Clearing my cache just made my ps5 run sooooo much quicker. I have a first gen one if that makes any difference
Love the HBomberguy recommendations at 1:20^^
Great info on the hard drive usb case!! Just ordered one!!
On the note of scrolling all the way over to the right for the power settings, if you have power settings to its default location, instead of scrolling all the way to the right all if you have to do is hit left once to get there
It's fitting to comment that I'm watching this video on my PS5, while my phone is paired on RUclips only for me to be able to comment.
That HardDrive tip is probably the best one
I just took mine apart lol and bought the external case lol
Fun fact about the console sharing is, that you can actually share your account with more than just 1 or 2 ps5 consoles. I share my account with 3 of my friends and they share it with me and we play each other’s games.
Yes sometimes it’s shows a lock, meaning the console thinks you don’t own the game. All you have to do then is go on your friends account ( you downloaded the game from) ,restore the license and again enable console sharing
Thanks Falcon!
Any time!
I snagged one a couple months after launch, and this is the first I've heard of the controller long press mute lol Thanks for the helpful info on top of the regularly awesome content
Absolutely love the shout-out to Hbomberguy and his Roblox video. Thank you
wow didn't think about number 5
Thank you Falcon !
I had a 2 gig externals storage and brought it over to my PS5 and it's a savior I just got my PS5 so I'll be upgrading the internal soon. It's gonna save me about 100 bucks too since I won't need more gigs Internal I'll only need a 1 gig
Perfect timing, bought one last year on new year's Eve, wasn't planning on it, but the place I work just so happened to have one in stock
Took mine on the plane, just wrapped it in my clothes. Made it just fine
You know they ship it on a plane too right? Lol And probably with much less care than you would give...
Helpful video even though I don't have a ps5 lol
I love these videos, because I like to see which trick that I actually do know so I test myself against the videos you guys post.
Thanks for helping me confirm that im good at figuring shit out lol.
that mute all audio options is actually fire. Got a call? mute all and continue playing. Call disconnected? Unmute. oohhhhhhh
Awesome big fan can't wait for the ps5 super excited
I have 2 PS4's. My OG one and the Pro. I'm so totally taking the hard drive out and adding it to the PS5. Never occured to me! Wow! Thanks
does step 5 let you access your PS4 save data as well or is it purely for expanded internal storage?
Fun Fact the web browser is hidden because it has been used to jailbreak playstations and will never get added to any system for this reason
Wow I am so excited!
Not to mention the exclusives are some of the best looking games you can play
thanks a lot for the tips
To quote Hot Rod, “Cool beans.”
Actually, the term "Cool Beans" originated from Cheech and Chong.. So, to quote Cheech and Chong, "Cool Beans, man."
Would not have pegged Falcon as a Hbomberguy fan. Respect.
This is helpful since I JUST got a PS5
Sony likes to take 1 step forward ( better graphics amd load times ) and 2 steps back ( limited games on home screen, hidden web browser, inability to charge controller on anything other than the console, poorly designed OS/ UI etc.)
I like the ui
This is useful information.
These will be on my mind when I get a PS5.
I did not know about the internet browser trick.. I was always confused that older consoles had it and PS5 didn’t.
Probably because it was the main reason Sony got hacked years ago
Anyone who hasnt seen the Roblox_Oof video seen in the twitter feed, I'd highly recommend it. I don't even like Roblox but without giving away any spoilers - that video is absolutely wild and 100% worth a watch.
Also, great content as always Gameranx!
I just got one on New Year’s Day. This video had perfect timing.
I started messing with the folders. Put all of my JRPG’s in a folder because those games are what I love to play to just escape
