  • Martell Swift Blue Coganc Review No. 27
    Welcome to Max's Cognac Review. I am an avid cognac enthusiast and explorer. There is very little information and opinion on quality cognacs so I felt compelled to share my nose and thoughts. The goal is to help educate and assist others in making the right decisions for their palate and wallets. Please enjoy it with a wee dram!

    All around great review. For me it was a little too harsh. It was A typical for a bourbon in my opinion. you said it best. VSOP is much softer on the pallet. Which i prefer. Keep em coming. Great reviews.

    I bought a bottle of this and took it to a Xmas party. When I say everyone wanted to be my friend. I think it has a cognac start but a bourbon finish. I would rate it probably the same if not a little lower. Its not bad but maybe if the price was a little cheaper would qualify the rating to the price in my opinion. But the main question is, would I buy it again? Answer, yes.

      Hey Terrence, thanks for checking out the review. It’s good, but I prefer the Martell VSOP when I am in the mood for some Cognac. That being said, It unique take on a Cognac with a Bourbon twist. Cheers

      Great analogy. I bought some Conjure last night to drink with my out of town relatives. Its endorsed or partnershipped with rapper Ludacris. Its been out for years, never picked it up. Bought a pint and it is smooth!! I think its worth a review on your channel. Also how are you doing in finding that Hennessy Pure White? Any luck?

      I've heard of it, but I have yet to try Conjure. It is definitely on my list. I still keeping an eye out for Hennessy white. I believe it is a very young Cognac so I am hesitant to try it but I am curious. What are your thoughts on the Hennessy White? Cheers

    I actually prefer the Blue Swift for an evening glass versus the Cordon Blue, but the Cordon Blue is typical Cognac, more dry.

    Funny to see the bottle 2/3 empty before he reviewed it. It must be good otherwise it wouldnt be that ...empty :)
    I have 4 of them, one thing i would say, like any other products, go with what you like to taste and ignore the brand name. My sister inlaw thought i treated her with $200 bottle of wine but in fact i gave her a cooking wine... she could not tell and love it, why not enjoy it...

      Hey Quen, thanks for checking out review. I couldn’t agree more. Many of the overpriced brand names are over-rated. My goal is to help others discover the undervalued lesser known houses out there. Cheers 🥂

    Is Martell cognac brandy ? I love brandy

    • @MaxsCognacReview
      @MaxsCognacReview  5 лет назад +6

      As the saying goes all Cognacs are Brandy but not all Brandys are Cognacs. Cognac is a Brandy that comes from the specific region of Cognac France. In order to be called a Cognac a Brandy has to come from that region. I hope this helps. 🥂

    Where do you get this bottle $35 in US? $115 in Canada and sold out at my local store

      @MaxsCognacReview  6 лет назад +4

      I am fortunate enough to live in Las Vegas. I have TotalWineandMore as well as Costco. I know it is more expensive in Canada but $115 is ludicrous. My condolences

      I used to live in Las Vegas and used to get it for $30 -$35 US. Moved to Sydney
      , Australia and just got one for $122 AU 😔. And that’s the lowest I’ve found it…Missing Las Vegas prices

      @@SleimanM ouch, that hurts. Prices used to average around $80 to $90 AUD for Blue Swift.
      Great drink, though.

    How does it compare to D'usse or Hennessy v.s.o.p?

    • @MaxsCognacReview
      @MaxsCognacReview  4 года назад +1

      Hennessy and dusse are a little smoother. This has a heavy bourbon cask influence so it’s something a whisky drinker would appreciate. Cheers

    Wouldn't aging it in bourbon barrels disqualify it as a Cognac?

      Manhattan No bartender can get it right Hey how have you been. I believe you are right! I had a few requests for this expression so I felt compelled to review it, but I must say I prefer their other expressions. Martell is still the best house out of the big four. Let's give them a pass on this one ; )

    • @manhattan7055
      @manhattan7055 6 лет назад

      I've been good thanx. I've not tried the swift but last week tried the Cordon Blue and for a decent price, I enjoyed it and was pleasently suprised, I generally stay clear of the big four but with the positive reviews I finally decided to try it. I have a friendly recommendation, Prunier 20yr, its only a 40%'er but tasty and can be found in $90 range. Cheers!

      I gambled on this one a while back and I didn't care for it much. I think it's because I left bourbon for cognac and I just didn't miss the bourbon taste at all.

    How the heck can he tell if it was a fresh and dried fruit in the liquor?

    • @MaxsCognacReview
      @MaxsCognacReview  5 лет назад +2

      Hey Nguyen thanks for checking out the review. Thats a great question. Nosing and tasting is certainly subjective... different palates and noses can pick up different elements, smells, and flavors. Ultimately the older Cognacs/Brandys tend to have more dried fruit while the younger ones tend to have more fresh fruit and citrus notes. I am a wine sommelier and I have trained and studied the "art" of tasting and nosing. Again it is subjective but with practice you can get fairly accurate with it. I hope this helps. Cheers
