Great video, I myself went with the 1.5ohm coil just to keep everything looking stock with the ballast resistor and started up first time as yours did when the wire was switched.
I believe they come from the throttle Pener relay on the firewall of 73-74 flat top carb cars. Something to do with emissions control of the carbs. Car is a 73 I assume?
I added the Pertronix electronic ignition to my '73 240z and it runs great, but I can't get the tach to work. I tried to get the flame thrower coil to work, but something is wrong cause the original coil runs great and the flame thrower cuts out at about 4,000 rpm. I'm running on the old factory coil I basically ran the hot from the Pertronix to the coil and the ground from the Pertronix to the coil. Can you send a sketch of how you wired your new stuff and send to burt.browning@duke-energy.com ?

Thanks very much took me 5 min without removing any wiring.
Glad to hear it worked out for you.
Your video helped me so much you are a king
The 240z caps are small very small. With this upgrade inside these dizzys with old bearings etc your going to have cut out around 4k rpms. On dynos.
Where does the lil condenser/ capacitor that’s just above your coil hook up to?
Did you ever figure out where that condenser hook up to ?
@@GetM3rk209 The condenser's wire is connected to the positive terminal of the ignition coil.
Thanks I'm going to get the electronic ignition. I have been thinking about it.
the unknown wires are for the fog lights
I got the same two wires that don't go anywhere on my 260z
Pretty sure that the green and black and yellow wire have something to do with the tachometer. But I could definitely be wrong
Any word on what those two mysterious wires are for? I have the same two
Nope never figured it out. When I did my engine swap I pulled them out of the harness.

@@ronaldforster8662 no it’s a 72 but a guy did his own wire job so I came back through with the closest harnesses I could find
I got the ignitor iii for my z and it didnt fit into my distributor, i guess do more research when buying 😅

Burt Browning did you manage the tacho to Work? I’ve got the same problem here😂
Did you guys put the black with white tracer on the positive side of the coil?
Did the same and I lost my tach also… bee driving by feel for the last two years lol
