  • The Ringer’s Ben Solak breaks down the film from Will Levis's debut for the Tennessee Titans, in which he threw four touchdown passes. Is Levis the QB of the future in Tennessee, or is he still a somewhat flawed rookie? What is the Titans coaching staff doing to play to his strengths, most notably his cannon of an arm? This and more in this week's episode of 'The Play Sheet.'

Levis actually played even better then the stat sheet and analytics showed. There were several drops downfield and then another perfect throw that was just broken up by a good play. The most impressive thing to me was actually how he was just in control of the offense. He was changing and checking at the line in his first game. We’ll see more Thursday night but he has everything a QB needs to be a star. I hope he can put it all together and find consistency, because if so, it’s gunna be fun to watch.

Levis' cannon of an arm is definitely an aspect that the Titans could use now. Its also good that Tim Kelly recognizes what his QB is comfortably good at and will give him opportunities to get those downfield shots. I think that is what any Titans fan can ask where Levis and this passing offense could be headed. Just having that element of big time throws.

The only thing I kinda disagree with is the assumption he locked onto receivers, completed passes to six receivers, you could see he eyes move to check downs. Still raw but with eight people in the box he can do damage if the line holds up. With the Steelers offensive problems I think you’ll see a ton of Henry and short slants, Steeler defensive line will test the rookie no doubt

Levis actually could have had a bigger game. Burks dropped a 40 yard pass first half, then was barely out of bounds on what could've been a 70 yard touchdown, then the tight end dropped an easy 30 yard completion....Levis is for real

Yeah, I wish Zach Wilson would have landed somewhere that would have coached him up and put him in positions to play off his obvious arm talent. The Jets started him and pretty much said, "Don't throw picks." Like, did they watch him at BYU? They looked at his tape, right? The Jet's over the last three years look like they were trying to write a book titled How to Squander Arm Talent. Chapter one, have the worst O line in the league. Chapter two, freak out your rookie QB about throwing picks and run dink and dunk plays 80% of the time. God I hate the jets.

Whoever they play this week knows he likes the throws to beat 1 and 0 coverage, I guarantee. Broncos fans were saying we’d found our guys after Drew Lock and Paxton Lynch lit it up in their first appearances too. There were 2 incompletes to Burks: 1) the best defensive play of the game for the Falcons 2) a sideline ball that, while close to good, is uncatchably out of bounds for any receiver not named Calvin Johnson. The fact Burks even made it close is impressive lol

@@kodasign4166I agree that I think Burks will be fine. Need to build up some trust between our young WR and QB at practice and it’ll pay off. But that throw to the sideline wasn’t uncatchable, it was perfect. He threw it were only Burks had a chance at it. Now, in hindsight, yes he should have thrown it upfield, instead of outside, but when he released the ball Burks hadn’t yet separated on the route, so Levis couldn’t have known to just throw it upfield.
