- The Ringer’s Ben Solak breaks down the film from Will Levis's debut for the Tennessee Titans, in which he threw four touchdown passes. Is Levis the QB of the future in Tennessee, or is he still a somewhat flawed rookie? What is the Titans coaching staff doing to play to his strengths, most notably his cannon of an arm? This and more in this week's episode of 'The Play Sheet.'

Solak is so excited because he finally gets to talk about someone younger than he is.
You ain't gotta do my mans like that 😂
This series is my favorite thing going right now. I hadn’t watched the NFL in years but Ben’s excitement and enthusiasm has brought me back. Great job Solak and crew.
Watching guys like Solak or Baldinger break down the game is more fun than watching NFL games these days, the refs have made most games unwatchable in my opinion
This means a lot to me. Exact sort of thing I'm trying to achieve. Very cool. Thank you for saying this.
Love to see content like this from the ringer. Been a huge titans fan for a while and i rarely get to see quality stuff like this on our team. Keep up the awesome work Solak!
In a few years the AFC south is going to be the glamor division with all these good young QBs
The deep incompletion to burks lowkey was the most impressive throw
@11:30'"you aren't going to connect on all those deep shots"
Levis: "Hold my Mayo"
Solak is so good at his job
Levis actually played even better then the stat sheet and analytics showed. There were several drops downfield and then another perfect throw that was just broken up by a good play. The most impressive thing to me was actually how he was just in control of the offense. He was changing and checking at the line in his first game. We’ll see more Thursday night but he has everything a QB needs to be a star. I hope he can put it all together and find consistency, because if so, it’s gunna be fun to watch.
Fran Tarkington also threw for 4 touchdowns his first start
He sure did
Yeah the 2 he mentioned are the only 2 in the Superbowl era. Records get all muked up with all the changes to the league over the century and hard to keep track.
Solak is the best.
The absolute best.
Superb analysis. 👍
That pass in the first half was a beautiful perfectly placed pass bro. Dude just made a amazing play
Where There’s a “Will” There is a Way!!!! 👍
TITAN UP
Sweet Xmas… thanks Ben
I think we found our guy TITAN-UP 😅kid got arm
Titan/Oiler up!!
You jinxed yourself, titan up. He looks like hot garbage
Levis' cannon of an arm is definitely an aspect that the Titans could use now. Its also good that Tim Kelly recognizes what his QB is comfortably good at and will give him opportunities to get those downfield shots. I think that is what any Titans fan can ask where Levis and this passing offense could be headed. Just having that element of big time throws.
He feels disrespected where he fail in the draft i believe this guy on a mission
That was not offensive pass interference because the ball was more than 20 feet away from them as they made contact, therefore making it completely legal I also have to add that. I’m glad I kept watching this because at the beginning I thought you was just a hater but now I see you’re just a great analyst when it comes to football.
Levi's definitely has a very high ceiling, reminds me of Brett Favre
Nice jacket, Ben!
Will Levis isn't the next Josh Allen or Justin Hebert. He's going to be much better than those two bums. 🤣
TITAN-UP my boy
9:12 you want to find same throw, McNair used to do it all the time,
I think Will Levis’s comp is Joe Flacco. Will have some success for sure. Big arm, up and down week to week, but if he gets hot at the right time then he could lead a team to a Super Bowl.
@loganreifsteck7785 how in the world could you possibly know from one game that he is going to be "up and down from week to week?"
I am a huge titans fan, but I acknowledge that we need at least a 4-5 game sample to gauge a QB. Let's take the conclusions, negative or positive, and sit in them for a couple weeks 😂
@@granteison3984 you do realize there is two years of tape on him at Kentucky right? That’s just my evaluation. Y’all got the next Joe Fluke’O.
Its crazy how much the media builds up a player just to tear them down when they fail
Great video love your energy and enthusiasm. Looking forward to AOC in a couple weeks
The only thing I kinda disagree with is the assumption he locked onto receivers, completed passes to six receivers, you could see he eyes move to check downs. Still raw but with eight people in the box he can do damage if the line holds up. With the Steelers offensive problems I think you’ll see a ton of Henry and short slants, Steeler defensive line will test the rookie no doubt
Levis actually could have had a bigger game. Burks dropped a 40 yard pass first half, then was barely out of bounds on what could've been a 70 yard touchdown, then the tight end dropped an easy 30 yard completion....Levis is for real
Burks didn't drop that first ball. The safety made an amazing play to get th pbu
The other thing those deep shots will do is loosen up the defense for the run game.
Im not a Titans fan but here's why it's something even though it's only one game
The Titans offense hasn't been that explosive with RT ever, & look at Levis' counterpart, when has Desmond Ridder & Atlanta looked that explosive?
Lots of things to improve upon based on his first game playing QB, but boy was that some debut. Hope he doesn't turn out to be very inconsistent like Mariota for the Titans.
This is crazy the HOUSTON OILERS so many memories i have a stack of football cards from the 80s and early 90s lol. 🤘
Yeah, I wish Zach Wilson would have landed somewhere that would have coached him up and put him in positions to play off his obvious arm talent. The Jets started him and pretty much said, "Don't throw picks." Like, did they watch him at BYU? They looked at his tape, right? The Jet's over the last three years look like they were trying to write a book titled How to Squander Arm Talent. Chapter one, have the worst O line in the league. Chapter two, freak out your rookie QB about throwing picks and run dink and dunk plays 80% of the time. God I hate the jets.
You forgot someone Fran tarkington threw 4td too in his debut
He who I wanted the Panthers to pick, glad my gut was correct on him. They messed this guys draft up he should have went top 5 with the others
Fran Tarkenton also did it
I said he was going to be the Justin Herbert of this class 🤷🏻♂️
The kid is throwing cannon balls
If Vrabel knows what's best he better not mess with this guy
Man I never realize Solak looked like he was 14
Ok where Is part Two?😂
It’s 1 game. His game isn’t exactly modeled the same as Willis or Tanehill. Give a defense a week of film to see what he likes to do / does well. Whoever they play this week knows he likes the throws to beat 1 and 0 coverage, I guarantee. Broncos fans were saying we’d found our guys after Drew Lock and Paxton Lynch lit it up in their first appearances too. There’s a lot more that goes into week to week game planning than we give credit to
Ben uttered the cursed “CW” name
Oh hi the life of will Levis I went to Penn State and never did anything wrong and transferred and threw 4 tds to Hopkins in one quarter. To be continued
Everyone makes a splash first time. QB is not like any other position in sports. He’s Carson Wentz without the phenomenal breakout season
I hope everyone can just wait a couple of weeks to jump to any huge conclusions, positive or negative.
Huge titans fan here, and gosh it is annoying people coming up with massive critiques after a rookies, first game.
TBH I think negative critiques are helpful for both you and fan and the wider public knowledge. Seeing him late on throws is certainly a major issue.
@@VinegarAndSaltedFriesbruh I have seen you talk about “late throws” in multiple comments. He was late on 2 throws the entire game. Your just throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks.
@@VinegarAndSaltedFriesthe man threw dots all over the field and had 80-100 more yards dropped by the receivers. Go watch the game bc there is no way you did.
@@jeremyg8286
1st quarter 9:47 game time swing passbehind Tajae spear (first throw forgivable)
8:30 hesitates on a pass to Chig Okonkwo behind ends up positive because of coverage but still late on timing and a pour decision
7:04 nice ball that’s broken up double covered but still great throw
6:19 good outside the number pass to Kyle Phillips who didn’t get enough depth because Levis was a bit slow
3:09 late pass to Derrick Henry ends up being a positive play but Henry has to stop forward momentum and slow up to catch the odd placement
Next throw OPI by Hopkins left this ball underthrown but Hopkins turns it into a TD and refs turn a blind eye.
Fucking try me bud. He was late and inaccurate all over the field and you’ll see it rear its ugly head tonight. Mark my words. Stop being a fan and evaluate the talent he displayed. He flashed his awesome arm strength that’s good and it’s one start but he is not ready to be a starting NFL QB.
@@jeremyg8286 he had a much better game against the Steelers tonight which is good to see. Still made a bunch of bone headed plays and throws and was still a tick late but definitely a far better game. Gunna have to wait to watch the all 22 till tomorrow but excited to observe. He did cost them the game and definitely got some help from the refs and Kenny Picketts injury to keep it close but some of his plays his arm is live.
Dude saying the throws aren’t challenging let’s see you do it
Just let them perform
That Burks incompletion is an insane pass. Burks is just cheeks.
There were 2 incompletes to Burks: 1) the best defensive play of the game for the Falcons 2) a sideline ball that, while close to good, is uncatchably out of bounds for any receiver not named Calvin Johnson. The fact Burks even made it close is impressive lol
First game back after a month of injury rehab, was creating good separation (couple great routes where Will never looked at him as well), he'll be fine.
@@kodasign4166I agree that I think Burks will be fine. Need to build up some trust between our young WR and QB at practice and it’ll pay off. But that throw to the sideline wasn’t uncatchable, it was perfect. He threw it were only Burks had a chance at it. Now, in hindsight, yes he should have thrown it upfield, instead of outside, but when he released the ball Burks hadn’t yet separated on the route, so Levis couldn’t have known to just throw it upfield. I thought it was a beautiful throw personally.
Burks is complete trash my guy. He should be able to make a play for both those passes. Elite guys could.@@kodasign4166
I hope it wasn't a Fluke.
He was so late on so many throws though. Hopkins making up for a lot. Not optimistic but still young.
It is going to be tough for Levis to be anything but the 4th best QB in his division. Maybe if Richardson is injury prone.
You wish, gomer
Levis in 3 hours showed more than Lawrence did his entire rookie year. Richardson will not last. And CJ ain't making a 55 yard throw from the far hash to the other side of the field off his back foot getting drilled.
@@babobenson5203shroud doesn't really need to be making insane highlight passes when he is already an incredibly efficient QB but I agree the other QBs in the division aren't exceptional.
The AFC South is going to be a fun division to watch for the next few years with these young QBs. As a Titans fan, I have fallen in love with Levis, mainly because I have waited forever to draft a QB that is good enough for a 2nd contract (Young, Locker, and Mariota could not live up to their first round status). I don't know if Levis is going to be the best or the worst, but it will be fun to watch him vs both Stroud and Lawrence two times this year (assuming Vrabel doesn't do something stupid like bench him when Tannehill is healthy).
@snowcat8971 he better not or we definitely firing him ASAP
hate solak
