Welcome back to the YT world. "OFX tutorials "- great idea. I have been using the texture pop lately as well. Works really great on mountain terrains - so easy to make them pop with that OFX. Not sure if you know or not, but the Gamut Limiter OFX question - Is it just hard clipping gamuts or does it actually work like an audio limiter where it is a catch all to smoothly limit gamuts with varying intensities? I threw one in to my fixed node tree to safeguard the transition from a wide gamut into a LUT. Seems to work but don't know what's under the hood. Anyway - in depth OFX is something everybody should be looking forward to. I know I am. As I said to you before, there is hardly any reliable info out there on how, and where to use these effects. As we know you have After Burner, also you use Davinci Resolve for living, will you have a chance to review the latest M1 Max, and let us know if it can really replace the most expensive configurations? Many thanks...
Hi. It is certainly tempting, but no laptop would replace my mac pro grading suite set up even if it were quicker - the cooling couldn't possibly hold up to rendering out 4K jobs that are an hour long or 90 mins or even features. If I get one, which Im very tempted, I'll certainly review it! All the best, darren.
@@DarrenMostyn Yeah, would love some in-depth looks at some of the Sapphire effects, when to use with masked footage, adjustment layers, etc. There really isn't much content out there where people use them to any great effect. Hi Darren ! Quick question. I’ve made a video on iPhone 11 Pro Max . Awesome quality footage in the sunny daylight. Edited in Davinci Resolve. On timeline it looks awesome , very good colours. After exporting the footage looks darker. After uploading to RUclips it looks a bit more darker than on timeline. Am I doing something wrong ?
Are you on a MAC? There's an issue (or was?), in the Apple ecosystem with color management. Therefore you have to use the output colors pace Rec709a, instead of Rec709, in the project settings.
thanks Darren. GREAT video as always. thank you so much for taking time from your buy schedule for us! i noticed newest release they finally have GPU hardware rendering for windows users. im on a Mac but im platform agnostic so im down with more power to the people ha ha. was just a quiet release on that aspect but such good news. Alson wanted to ask, and sorry if im hijacking the vid, but what's your thoughts to this point on the M1 Macs and resolve. we've been in it for some time and now that the initial shock is over just wondering if the massive performance bump is still worth it. not trying to do an ad for apple but genuinely interested. seemed like such a miracle for straight editing but I do a lot of FX work in fusion. just curious of your thoughts. thanks so much man and great vid, you're such a contribution to the community. keep it up and blessings for your business. hope all is well.
Thanks Teddy. I will very likely be getting a new macbook pro so I'll do my review then and compare it to the MacPro 2019 that I have. Should be an interesting review!! Thank you for your good wishes and same to you sir.

Hey Darren, Your channel have grown tremendously since we last spoke. I have a Quick question. I just got DR studio and I’ve been editing some c200 raw footage that typically always need NR because there is no in camera NR being applied. Whenever I add NR in resolve my laptop lag bad but that not the issue I’m cool with turning off the NR node until the end of the edit but my problem is when it’s time to export the render take forever like 0.5 fps. I was thinking to get an egpu do you think that would speed up the process of exporting? My current laptop have a AMD Radeon 555x 4gb vram. I was looking at Blackmagic egpu.
The egpu will help a bit but you are only on 4GB Vram - this is pretty low if you use NR all the time. You wont suddenly get much faster - possibly double. NR at that frame rate is not unusual depending how much you add. NR and magic mask and neural engine is always intense on the system.
@@DarrenMostyn hey, thanks for the reply. So I did some testing and I see that if I transcode the raw footage to prores LT I get about 3fps during export with the same grade so that may be my solution for now until I upgrade my work station or try an egpu with atleast 8GB vram. I do t always have to use NR but for shots with slot of shadows on the c200 cinema raw footage just be noisy in the shadows.
@@DarrenMostyn Yup. You had three ... Motion Trails, Smear and Stop Motion, only. Mine also has Motion Blur as the first item. No big deal, just strange. Great vid, btw. Look forward to more detailed tutorials as and when. 👍
False Color - get out! I didn't know that was hidden in there - I always thought "Gosh, it would be nice to have an Arri false color view in DR!" And of course Darren finds it...

is there any step to mark automatically according to the beats in the music/sound wave form?
Say for example, if the audio contains a repeated beat, do we have any easy options to mark those beat?
Is there any step to snap the play head to move on the markers?
Please help!!
Hit marker key as you listen to the beat - not automatic but thats how we've done it in broadcast for years! (Im 25 years in broadcast!).
@@DarrenMostyn Oh okay. Thanks for your response...
Great video as always!
thank you
Fantastic video!!
Glad you liked it!
Hey, Pal, thanks for your lessons! Could you (if you didn't do yet) explain us how to post chroma key with the new chroma key update (v.14.2). Will be great. thanks in advance.
Hi Darren, Will you be buying the new Apple MacBook Pro with the new M1 Max chip? Apple says in its presentation, the M1 Max is faster than the fastest intel Mac Pro with After Burner installed.
I need to sell something - some useful stuff in the Studio package! Keep up the great vids
worth it -
Perfect content 💯
OK, thats good for me!
Great Video, subscribed!
Thanks for the sub!
Brilliant can you do a tutorial on plug ins there benefits, I do basic video editing but would love to know if theres any good ones worth purchasing
Noted. Thanks Ross
@@DarrenMostyn Yeah, would love some in-depth looks at some of the Sapphire effects, when to use with masked footage, adjustment layers, etc. There really isn't much content out there where people use them to any great effect. It's mostly just general overview videos and rarely do they sell the effect's purpose at all.
Hi Darren, you pointed out that there is a filter to create analog and film damage but is there one that repairs it?
dust buster is kind of what you need. Part of the Revival set. All the revival tools are incredibly powerful.
Thanks man
How do I free up my hard drive's memory after I render a video? By the way I subscribed to your channel. I'm looking forward to your studio how to videos. Thank you.
delete the cache folder.
@@akyhne Hi ! Thank you for your reply. Yes I’m on Mac
Hi How to edit in multiple timelines without constant scrolling and zooming? How to split editing by 15-sec timelines...
Fantastic
Thank you so much
Thanks a lot!! =)
Hi Laura. Glad you enjoyed that one. Lots of OFX deep dives coming!
thanks Darren.
Darren I see you holding a digital pen is some videos, would you mind discuss your hardware, software, and how the Pen is part of your coloring workflow?
Also
The Speed Editor was 300 USD and came with Studio! Bought from B&H Photo! I also got Studio when I bought my BMPCC6KPro. Lots of ways to get for “free”!
Its a WACOM tablet and Pen. Used for maybe 20 or so years - another no brainer! So much more comfortable than a mouse!
@@DarrenMostyn nice! Love to see how this is part of your work flow. I have a pen I use for digital white board presentations over zoom, but never thought about using in Resolve! Look forward to more of your content!
If you haven't, watch his studio tour video.
Hey Darren,
Your channel have grown tremendously since we last spoke.
You can get the full version for free if you buy the $300 controller.
Absolutely, making it deal of the century.
@@DarrenMostyn If possible YES DO THIS!!
Got my studio with a free editor.
Its really a god overview but why in souch a hurry when you bother at all
because Im doing deep dives next.
Strange. Under "Temporal", I also have "Motion Blur" as well as those showing for you. And, yup, latest version a couple of days ago.
is your different to mine?
@@DarrenMostyn Yup. You had three ... Motion Trails, Smear and Stop Motion, only. Mine also has Motion Blur as the first item. No big deal, just strange.
Great vid, btw. Look forward to more detailed tutorials as and when. 👍
@@OzoneVibe maybe a very latest version thing! Means I missed one!
thanks for letting me know.
👌💯📽🎬
Lens blur is not free
False Color - get out! I didn't know that was hidden in there - I always thought "Gosh, it would be nice to have an Arri false color view in DR!" And of course Darren finds it...
not sure you get the Arri view....its pretty much blackmagic HUD's whcih are great but the custom views are quite interesting. Disclaimer - I dont use as I have Nobe Onmiscope which has a superb False Color Display built in. Discount code in my "which scopes in 2021" episode description.
US$200 for a full version is not that expensive if you think about it .. its only worth a month of fuel for your car for some people.
These days maybe not a month of fuel sadly!
