- Recently I have been seeing a lot of Videos and Articles trying to answer the question "Can an Xbox Series S replace a gaming PC?" This question intrigued me so I decided to sit down and find out for myself, here are my findings.

its actually because they dont make money on the sales im 90% they lose money on them, instead they make most of their profits on xbox gold

It's very cool that consoles are getting to a point where they can at least approach the problems of general compute for a low price tag, but the amount of control you give up in both the games themselves and especially on the OS is just enormous.
To that end, I think it depends on your requirements as a user (which is what it feels like you landed on at the end of the video). If you want to just have a console + web browser and don't need features, then I think a console kinda works! Otherwise though, the lack of a file system and a feature-rich OS is an intractable deal killer. Not to mention the performance delta you could achieve if you had the budget.

so you cant just throw a OS on this thing tho right? Like i have a series s and since i cant afford a actual PC i would like to use the extra s as one.
Windows 11 and 10 probably don't support the CPU/GPU so that people won't do that.
I'm a long-time PC gamer going back to the early 1990s but I also currently own a Series S. I'm honestly very impressed with how good the Series S is performance-wise for the price. I enjoy both PC and console for different reasons but am seriously considering migrating to the Xbox for gaming when my current gaming PC is up for replacement (probably 2024 or 2025). I could then just have a regular PC around for Internet and regular everyday stuff, and for my older existing library of PC games. It's good that the list of games that support keyboard and mouse is growing on the Xbox but I'm generally fine with a controller in many instances.
An easier way to temporarily get rid of on-screen keyboard is by simultaneously pressing windows and esc keys. I've been using my Xbox series X as my desktop. Obviously, the only downside is that we can't open or save any docs on here, but I usually just email it to myself and open it on another device.
I was hoping for you to build a pc inside the series S case, by dimensions this is doable and you could even fit a single slot gpu like the RX 6400

I am afraid Microsoft will wait to see if people use keyboards while people wait to see if microsoft will support more games

I'm curious if the console's Developer Mode would help mitigate some of the problems you bring up during this video, such as the on screen keyboard and lack of mouse support on the UI. I think this is great for someone like me who doesnt play MMOs though.
Not really, the Dev mode is a huge pain in the ass to use as well, not accessible to the average consumer. Been thinking about making a video on emulation using Dev mode. But it would amount to "look, it can do this if you are patient and have some tech know how"

awesome i bought a Iranian keyboard (TSCO GK8123) in iran I use my mom,s mouse on a made in China xbox one s all digital edition it's not bad I would like to see running a full access windows on xbox running softwares
now if only we could use PC USB controllers and USB headphones then I would be set at using my Xbox one S as a second gaming PC.

see, I think this is a dub, because of the fact that when you try to build your own pc and spend money there. You end up buying a controller, and some of the popular titles like Fortnite and Minecraft which u are gonna most likely play are supported, so just add a monitor for around $150, and a cost of a gaming mouse and keyboard, around $100. Extensions, a SATA SSD and your total is just shy of 600 dollars which is way better when you try to build it yourself and squeeze out the maximum value on a pc, and with the money saved, just buy a laptop, and that is a huge win-win.

Nah, unfortunately not. You can do a bunch of cool stuff in the developer mode. I've been thinking about making a video on that, but you know. I'm on a year long hiatus 🤣

Simple answer, no. Just had a look into it. series x/s is the best option if it ever becomes possible to install windows 10 on it.
how to do it
This is how I use my Series S too, I was expecting the video to be something different. I expected this was a guide of how to unlock the Xbox to run full Windows or Linux :)
Anyway, yeah, I use my Xbox with a keyboard and mouse too.
Can you mod games that's how you can tell it can be real gaming PC.
Mouse and keyboard + console = crappy gaming laptop with horrid GUI (Graphical User Interface).
To all console players, don’t expect the best pc for cheap, start cheap. Buy a pre build that isn’t super expensive (APU based) then upgrade one piece at a time. Embrace the adventure, Craft your battle station.

would be nice to have an OS install option for the Xbox like how the ps3 had.
They won't allow it to be fully supported. They own windows so they want you to buy a pc as well. That sucks but they are greedy too. You can continue games from pc to console but are stuck having to use either mouse/keyboard for pc (some controller support) or controller on xbox. What makes sense for the user isn't good business sense for the company. Why get you to buy 1 thing when you can buy 2 or more products. Until they start losing money, don't count on the console to replace a pc.
I wish they added kb+mouse support for starfield. Publishers decide if they add support or not... shooters I think they either need that or at least aim assist
