@@AutotopiaLA Agreed and I appreciate that. In its own right, this is a well sorted car. Between companies like Fusion and Revology, amazing turnkey restomods with amazing good looks, modern performance and mated to a 6 speed manual give me hope for the future.
exactly. I was about to warn Autotopia about the ridiculous of the guys that purchased the name but it looks like they are singing their praises. Heck no. I hate that I am even commenting on this as I don't want to promote the algorithm.
And.... it's not a Shelby my problem is to be a real picture car at least on the outside you have to slap that G.T. 500 across the lower body and add those Shelby emblems. I'm not sure if the hero car actually had Shelby 427 under the hood.
I understand all the comments about copyright infringement from a different perspective...I was a working musician all of my life and was glad we had protection from theft of our music
@@AutotopiaLA defending your copyright is completely valid and required. It’s why people do it. The reason people are mad is because the word Eleanor is the only thing they have rights to. Someone tried to make a tribute to it and had their project (and livelihood) taken from them, without a C&D (that we know of). Imagine if a chain of dealerships had called themselves Autotopia and just came over and yoinked your channel. Or if everyone who ever made a Camaro SS clone was subject to licensing claims and forfeiture. The dude was marrying a 2015 mustang with a 1967 body. He made the mistake of calling it an Eleanor tribute, and they took away part of his livelihood and his work, then did whatever with it. That’s right up there with frivolous copyright lawsuits in my opinion. I’ve had to deal with a few patent trolls personally, it’s never fun. So my opinion, and apparently the prevailing opinion of the car community, is screw these guys in particular.
@@Brianlikescars didn’t know that was the case. I was told they own the name as well as the likeness. However it goes that sucks that people get hurt in the process like the guy you referred to. Sticky situation but I truly appreciate the quality of the car built by Fusion. It’s a seriously high quality build
Nice car, glad to see you do one of the 'proper' ones. The Eleanor from the 2000 rendition of Gone in 60 Seconds is definitely a love it or hate it car as is the movie with car enthusiasts but for me it is one of my all time favorites. It looks like they have a really nice product. And that sound, it really does sound like the car in the movie: I've seen the ending at least 100 times and the sound really does match the movie. I don't deny it likely takes near that money for a quality to shop to build one of these cars including the LABOR but that is still a HUGE chunk of change no matter how you look at it as it is still a Mustang at the end of the day, plus, they are building several of the same car meaning they are stamping out the same body panels in bulk numbers; it is not like it is a one off custom where every detail is a design of its own. While the cost of quality labor is what it is, there are probably ways to trim the cost down some in terms of the hard parts like the use of carbon fiber which I personally wouldn't "need" or want exposed on a 60's era muscle car as I think it's more fitting on something like a European exotic but to each their own. I have to imagine that you are also paying for that licensed name too. Speaking of which, the company Classic Recreations has been putting out these cars for a long time too including variants of it, BTW, and I believe a while back they also claimed to be the "one and only true Eleanor." Going on their website just now, though, it appears that may have changed but I haven't followed all the logistics around the rights to that name as many have been commenting here about.
The owners (or bullies?) of the Eleanor copyright send cease and desist letters to anyone they find with a Mustang who dares to name their car Eleanor. And these builders are enabling the bullies by acquiescing and paying the bullies royalties. If you let the bullies bully you, you get more bullies. How about just not naming the car Eleanor?
Pretty much my thoughts. I sadly had to eye roll the FUCK every time I heard "official", imma like, how much did it cost to say that and is there ANY other reason besides monetary reasons? (build quality is NOT one either, many people have high-end build quality)...
@@English2Elvish it's the world's most expensive vanity license plate. It reminds me of that pretentious punk on TV that got calf implants. He's so worried about what people think, and doesn't realize everyone's laughing at him.

You know there are a lot of Great Muscle cars out there from all the manufactures from the sixties. I remember back when I was a teenager. They roamed the streets and a drag race waited at every stoplight. Back then gas was inexpensive, 25 cents a gallon. I really enjoyed Chevy Chevelles, Plymouth Road Runners, and the Fords. But there was one car for me... The body style just spoke Appeal. It's style just caught my eye. For me there isn't anything that could make it more inviting. This is it. The Ford Muscle Car Mustang. Trying to tell a younger generation the way it was back then...well I just don't have the words. But I have the memories, and they will be with me forever and a day. I am going to close my eyes and go back there right now...5/18/23
I'm glad he said it's got badges on the sides and under the hood calling it official, so now I can rest easy knowing it's the real car. Phew! Almost lost a night of sleep there!
Shawn, I would love to own one of these cars. Hell! However, by the time I got it to Canada it would probably cost around $400,000 plus duty, rate of exchange etc. To lighten the car even more it might be awesome to see full carbon fiber doors as an option. They could even use sound deadner to give it that nice closing door sound. The interior part of the doors, and jams, may even be fully exposed carbon fiber (like the trunk edges) with billet chrome and leather accents on the panels. The artistic side of my brain is working overtime again.
The concept of a 67' GT500 being referred to as Eleanor came from the original Gone in 60 Seconds movie in 1974. Shelby never produced an "Eleanor" variant of the GT500. The movie car for the most recent 2000 iteration was designed by Chip Foose as I understand it. I'm unsure of who produced the movie cars.
Clearly you don't know that Eleanors are not made by Shelby, and the bitch of a wife is slapping lawsuits on anyone that uses the name or likeness. So definitely not something Carroll Shelby would be happy of.
@@dandoesnothing5126 in this case, I stand corrected with the newly provided knowledge. What I meant to state in my frustration at the time upon watching this video is that the Eleanor that I know was a Shelby. My mistake.
True Eleanors would be 71 mach 1s in sunset gold with black accents, no naca ducts, and a black hood stripe. Non of the Shelby garbage from that nic cage version
Strangely enough I've never been a fan of Eleanors. I understand the draw to them but I'd prefer to have a one off custom or restomod for the money. Great video as always!
No I never thought they looked good either... And I normally like Shelby things but on a mustang of that model year I just like it lean without the body kit and the color is here or there. I thought the movie was a flop so why did it stick around become such a cultural icon?

Love the car, but all the “Eleanor” badging just makes it tacky. I don’t think the original design had that.
Yeah you're right I believe in the movie it actually had Shelby badging on it. 😎
The first company to do this, Unique Performance, simply had a GT500E badge on the car and that was pretty tasteful.
If you built one like the original with Shelby badges you would get sued by Shelby. Can't win either way.
@@vette63
Not if you make a deal with them and cut them in on it. Also, if you're doing a quality build one off, they may sign off on it just for the highervisibility of their name.
@@americanosbadassius9292 nice to know👍
'Scuse me while I mop the drool. Suh-weet! Awesome fabrication work guys!!
As motorcycle guy , I would even drive it on a rainy day 👌🏾
As a car guy, I would use it to run over a motorcycle
Thats one badass Eleanor Mustang.
Still a fan of the Unique Performance builds that came out 15 years ago.
I remember those... I wonder whatever happened to them, they were using their license so I think they're still safe to call Eleanor's right?
I remember looking at a behind the scenes of their shop everything.
Never saw one up close but they did look great
@@PACKERMAN2077
I believe they convicted the owner of title washing, but it didn't really seem like he was trying to defraud anyone, just took too much liberty in building them, without considering all points of the law in regards to building them. They were definitely officially licensed Shelby products and Ford even gave the cars new VINs. In typical fashion, both Ford and Shelby walked away from him after the government took issue.
I’m surprised Denise didn’t order them all confiscated from their owners on sole technicality since she doesn’t give a crap about the cars or the community and only wants money.
@@Oldfolks420
After reading about the story, it didn't seem like the company was actually guilty of title washing and that they were prosecuted on a technicality, what's your understanding of the situation?
Man...wazzup with all the "HATERS" out there? It is what it is O.K.? It's absolutely stunning in every sense of the word and I'm sorry that both you and me don't have $280K laying around to buy one. Being licensed keeps things real and well worth the money.
These wonderful people from gone in 60 seconds, they truly love to “share” the experience. (I’m obviously being sarcastic)
Dude when I saw that garage...it has...everything😍! I bet it was like a dream for you to😉
Fusion is a very impressive company and the dealership is insane!!
Showstopper! Awesome Stang guys.
Jesus almighty. What a BEAUTIFUL work of art. Great video too.
I'm not a Mustang fan, But this ride is badass ! I'll stick to my 71 Cuda and 71 Challenger. Bought them both in the Mid 70's in excellent condition, still own them both in 2022.
Can I have one.
I did some burnouts and donuts like the end of this video to get the air out of my power steering. My mechanic was like: "how did you fix it so fast" lol. These cars are exceptional quality
The level of craftmanship is incredible. Not a fan of this model Mustang but damn it´s a great build!
Quality is tops as are components used
Your favorite car is probably a Grimlin or a pacer
What BEAUTIFUL car and the quality shows. It's a looker and a performer. Thanks for posting.
Very high quality builds from Fusion and that’s exactly what we showed. I stay out of the political elements involved with this car, name and copyrights
@@AutotopiaLA Agreed and I appreciate that. In its own right, this is a well sorted car. Between companies like Fusion and Revology, amazing turnkey restomods with amazing good looks, modern performance and mated to a 6 speed manual give me hope for the future.
Rien que le moteur est une œuvre d'art à lui tout seul, quel beauté cette Eleanor M Fastback
If i could ever afford it(which i can never) I would take one from your workshop and firm. Absolutely great work! Well done. 1 of many Dream cars!
Sadly nothing that has “The E word” on it can never be cool to me again. Screw that company in particular for being scummy.
exactly. I was about to warn Autotopia about the ridiculous of the guys that purchased the name but it looks like they are singing their praises. Heck no. They have absolutely and ruthlessly destroyed lives over a f'ing name. I understand copyright infringement and handling that but to the extent these guys did I can't watch the video and I have to give it a thumbs down.
THE LICENSE IS DEAD , THE LAWSUIT KILLED IT
Man!!! Simply an Art Museum!!!😎👍
Thx to people who makes this legendary car alive !❤
I don’t know how to add photos from my camera roll to this post. If I work it out I’ll post a couple of photos
absolute beauty.... The person is really a passionate car builder.
It would be so sick to experience a ride in this baby girl.😎🤘🏼
God that Roush 427 N/A sounds godly amazing
It really does and the power delivery is awesome!
That's what happens when someone owns the rights to something. At the same time if they didn't than why would they bother paying for the rights in the first place?
@@user-ge2qn6gp4o B is for Build had a car they were building, far from these, in their garage, taken from them for using the name in a youtube video... it can go too far.
Some haters in these comments. This is a dope ride. Seen the movie dozens of times. Respect what these guys are doing. Sure, could be critical of some things, but I’m into this. Sounds amazing and looks amazing, seems like it’s fun to drive.
Every time I see an Eleanor, I can hear the song playing; Trevor Rabin - The Last Car
As a true Shelby Fan Eleanor is an amazing powerful machine 427 and so much handling the awareness that this car brings up to the experience totally fan and unbelievable awesome feeling loving it all day long thanks guys. Made. My day an more exciting to love her 💕
I love this car and especially the ones produced by Fusion. Truly class builds

Thanks and hopefully you see some great rides there!!

Sounds freaking amazing
I am going to close my eyes and go back there right now...5/18/23
I just cant get over the fact that this is a roush replica meant to look like Eleanor and not a shelby replica like it should be
I'm glad he said it's got badges on the sides and under the hood calling it official, so now I can rest easy knowing it's the real car. Phew! Almost lost a night of sleep there!
Shawn, I would love to own one of these cars. Hell! However, by the time I got it to Canada it would probably cost around $400,000 plus duty,
rate of exchange etc. To lighten the car even more it might be awesome to see full carbon fiber doors as an option. They could even use sound
deadner to give it that nice closing door sound. The interior part of the doors, and jams, may even be fully exposed carbon fiber (like the trunk
edges) with billet chrome and leather accents on the panels. The artistic side of my brain is working overtime again.
Sounds sweet
The original Eleanor car from the movie is in Germany
One of the 3 hero cars are…I’m good friends with Chrome Cars. I even got to drive that one while visiting them a couple years back
True Eleanors would be from the Shelby factory. These are replicas.
Replica or not , their beautiful and I would love to own 1
Clearly you don't know that Eleanors are not made by Shelby, and the bitch of a wife is slapping lawsuits on anyone that uses the name or likeness.
That's my all-time favorite car. The 1967 Shelby GT 500
Strangely enough I've never been a fan of Eleanors. I understand the draw to them but I'd prefer to have a one off custom or restomod for the money. Great video as always!
You could and you could get it done for a lot less. One could have themselves a really nice example for 50K.
No I never thought they looked good either... And I normally like Shelby things but on a mustang of that model year I just like it lean without the body kit and the color is here or there.
