I've just booked to see them on their tour in December in London. Ian Broudie truly one of the greatest pop writers this country has produced, even if "Three Lions" is what he seems to be universally known for, he's so much more than that as this testifies!
Even today so called standard of music... I consider the Lightning Seeds absolute brilliance. I love all their albums CD and the singles too. All of it worth buying.
Song that got me into rock music back in 1994. It was featured on the TV channel Nickelodeon in an advertisement for the Clarissa Explains It All show. I was 10 and up until then only listened to early 90s Eurotrash Hi-NRG dance music.
I remember that advert. It had a woman singing on what looked like the Swiss Alps like was she was imitating Julie Andrews in the Sound Of Music 😂. It was a car advert I think 😂
Oh well you had to fit But you're fit to drop Open up the window and jump into the blue Things could be marvelous Things could be fabulous You need a push I'll push you off Open up the window and jump into the blue Things could be marvelous Things could be fabulous Soon Oh, and these are the days And this is the life There'll always be something on your mind You'll never quite find Won't you ever make your mind up Oh well you had to hit 'Til you hit the top Open up the window and jump into the blue Things could be marvelous Things could be fabulous Soon Oh, and these are the days And this is the life There'll always be something on your mind You'll never quite find Won't you ever make your mind up Now you'll never be sure If this is the time If this is the moment The end of the line You'll never decide You used to know but now you've forgotten You sit there and wait for the phone to ring When are they going to call Are they ever going to call you at all And then oh! this song always makes me happy. I remember hearing the Peugeot ad in the 90s and loving this song all over again. timeless band. so good. sugar coated iceberg is a personal favourite
I totally agree. And the same can be said of a handful their tunes. Genius. Liverpool bands bossed that decade. Manchester too. Nothing happened down south ;~)
Am watching classic corrie on itv hub. Just heard this song. The episode is from 1998. I remember the song from the first time around although I didn't think it was from 91
Dear LightningSeeds, you are so great, great video and lyrics! I got to know and love you in the nineties. Hope to hear many more great songs from you! You are firmly connected to me, my life and my taste in music! A lot of love from a big fan (Kuntz;-)) from Germany!:-)
This band was amazing...where the hell did they go? come back please! I have been faced with a massive decision in my life just now, and I'm trying hard to make up my mind of what the hell to do...every time I try and decide what to do this song comes on the radio! weird.
G'day Shandy.. Um, l have never heard of them.. But they were probably played, back then l was into techno/rave/alternative.. they sound great though.. 🦘👍🦘Bye.
Brilliant. Three Lions is easily the weakest single on their greatest hits. Go and listen to Marvellous, Perfect, Sugar Coated Iceberg or Ready Or Not as examples of perfect pop. I listened to this album recently and realised what great melodies these songs are.
Well said - except that There Lions deserves a massive "well done" to everybody involved. I like Skinner and Baddiel and the Lightning Seeds, so im happy that that song has done what it did. Fair play to them.
Wasn't Chris Sharrock (The La's) the Seeds' drummer for the Jollification period (and some of Dizzy Heights)? Pretty sure that's not him in this vid. I agree with people about the remix though - I don't like the 'long' version on the album so I lopped off the intro/outro and you get the extra verse minus all this over-produced nonsense. Perfect was the absolute highlight for me from the 'Strawberry' era though :D (anyone elses remember that strawberry obsession?!). I wonder if Broudie ever explained it.... :)
Life is hard its certain people that people make this world hard to live in grow mature don't hide behind drugs and booze your own worse own victim please listen to this song
Seriously!!! This is one of best songs of the 90's bar none!!!, so upbeat and energetic and uplifting!!
Is it upbeat? I've always thought it had a bit of a melancholy undercurrent.
I've just booked to see them on their tour in December in London. Ian Broudie truly one of the greatest pop writers this country has produced, even if "Three Lions" is what he seems to be universally known for, he's so much more than that as this testifies!
So underrated. This is bloody marvellous
Those were the days
🎯
It could be fabulous.
Soon...
I see what u did there...
Great band great songs brings me back to my youth. The 90s were a great time to be alive
One of them songs you hear as a child in the 90s and now when I hear it I'm just taken back x
It's ace innit.
I wish i could go back. I really do....
Even today so called standard of music... I consider the Lightning Seeds absolute brilliance. I love all their albums CD and the singles too. All of it worth buying.
CS?
Happy Birthday Jollification,25 year's old today
I am 72 , just discovered them . great !!! Why didn’t I listen before
Better late than never!

All I remember is a 1996 Renault Picasso advert with this music.

Brit pop my favourite music era. A time when I branched out in life and just about right level in technology.
mines as well
Totally underrated!!!

Cause this is the time
And you know I'm right
Last three lines are the best, they are saying live for the moment. The time is now.
Shame you didn't spell 'marvellous' correctly, especially given it's the name of the song lol!
1 of the best British songs ever
Brilliant in Plymouth yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How does this song only have 85000 views in 6 years...
Their appeal isn't very broad, sadly
The Lightning Seeds is very under rated in the UK
@@LoLzZ85 *not very broud
What a song love it
Only 1100 views is criminal, this is one of the best songs of all time!
500k now brother
Heard this from a Renault advert years ago....Been looking for it on/off since then, had the jingle in my head since then. Until today! :D
Yeah the Renault scenic
Pretty sure that was featured in an advert for Renault Scenic in about 2000 or 2001
A lot earlier than that if I recall, maybe mid 90's.
+Will Lancett it did. that stupid sound of music one.
Yeah that's right
Good Old England yeah, you're right. It was 99. Thought it was earlier.

The outro was used in the tv ad for the Renault Scenic

The outro was used in the first Renault Scenic tv ad
Wasn't there a band called Blur? 😉
"You used to know but now you've forgotten, the submarine got stuck to the bottom" best line in the song.
best line in any song.
2020 - who’s here??? 💪🏼💪🏼
Me xxxx
Me, after hearing this on the radio today. I'd forgotten what a great song it was.
2021 😏
Hell yeah. 2024
Always felt the first 30 seconds to 1 minute could have been the opening to a TV soap/TV Serial back in the day

Young Keeley Hawes
Yum to young Keeley. Yum yum to older Keeley...
The video for this great song goes hand in hand with it.
Cannot get the Renault Scénic advert out of my mind. The music is nice but the car was a lemon.
Managed to crowd surf to this at the Barras once
I was there my friend.

Best band of Britpop by a mile.
Wonder how much did that bus cost to order in 1994 and how was it ordered, by phone, lol?
Great song we need this in a doomy gloomy world
Wow, did not know this but the actress Kelley Hawes is the woman in the wedding dress. She went on to be In the Line of Fire season 2 and more...
These are the days these are the times I miss this era wake up this is the time and know your right
The intro is cut from about 2 mins to 13 seconds! Such a shame.
this song made me buy my first ever album
The video description is incorrect regarding the year. Song is from the Jollification album from 1994.
Still rocking this in 2021
bloody mavellous
Una vez más el bello rostro de keely Haweey
Una muñeca inmortalizada.

How come this came out in 91 but I didn't hear it til 96?
You're right - the record came out 1994, not 91. Even record companies screw up ;)
