David Pakman: *does a interview with Parenti years ago.*
Also David Pakman: *bashes Socialism years later, the same economic system that Michael Parenti was advocating for.*
Pakman Logic. It's simply a mindboggler.

It's funny how Parenti resonates so well with the subscribers to this channel, yet so few are willing to fully embrace socialism/communism. You all must understand that a planned economy is the only way forward when it comes to a fairer society. One not of class. But of equality to all. Men ,women, blacks and whites. Was the USSR perfect? Not by any means. But when you learn how the Soviets where never allowed to fully develop communism and a withering away of the state due to constant outside interference (cold war etc) it helps you see what kind of society Marx envisioned. Parenti is a great starting point. If you watch his lectures on how communism was "overthrown" rather than believing the fallacy that it "collapsed" it helps put into perspective the amount of US and UK antagonism Stalin and his useless successors had to put up with. Then from there actually read Marx and Lenins work. It's an eye opener to what could have been.

Pasha Gayturk Completely subjective. I'm not denying the hysteria around Trump has gotten out of hand. His immigration plan is the least of the world's worries. The media need to be far less dismissive of the inevitable results that will come from his plans for further deregulation of the stock market. Is banning Muslims the end of the world? Probably not. Is allowing the city boys carte blanche to gamble the world's finances in whatever fashion they feel suitable? Almost certainly. What I mean Obama was praised at the beginning almost as much as Trump is vilified today. And I'm sure around the same time Packman could have had someone on his show who's views on some subjects are very accurate yet on others are simply personal opinion and maybe even immoral. So the stance Packmans subscribers take totally depends on general media influence and their own opinion or lack of knowledge on the subject/person that he is interviewing. In short is every opinion he spouts going to resonate with all of us? No. But his stance on the USSR/communism and its fight against imperialism is factual and accurate. I'm not asking people to worship all of Parentis views. Or say the man is a saint. But when it comes to the subject at hand,he's one of the most knowledgeable people around.

a good mixed economy is the best option

You should not lump socialism with communism. I am in favor of a socialistic democracy, where the government runs education, healthcare, military, corrections, with little to no private involvement, but I also know we cannot simply rid ourselves of a free market system, as it has shown so fruitful. That doesn't mean we should continue to allow money to heavily influence the political landscape.
Communism? Really? We need another example of a few million deaths before you guys give that up? Communism will never work because every single example of it has shown you can't keep it at the theoretical eutopia Marx envisioned. It always tips over to an authoritarian regime (totalitarian if you look at North Korea) that tramples on free speech -- and forced consensus is never going to be the answer.

80teg Comrade. A few years ago I was in the same boat as yourself. However I did my own research and realized it's impossible to enact social values under a capitalist system. It simply won't work. You can't take profit from healthcare, transportation, mail service etc yet hold moral/social values. A planned economy is the only way forward. Marx's ideals couldn't have been envisioned due to constant outside interference. Withering away of the state? Not possible when you are under the threat of invasion

      Mr SmersH
poeple like you are so lauph able.
replace Marxism or communism with any other fundementalist ideology and the arguments are just the same.
if only the big bag ...... didn't interfere our utopia would had worked.
your way will never work because of this obscure idea that it can't even though it pritty much is and has bin the only thing to prove itself however imperfect.
come on did you really say comrade? lol fucking lol

    Fantastic interview so far
    Edit:
I would add that it is the top 10%
    Not only the top 1%
Who have fundamentally different economic interests than the rest of the population (as well as an increasing profit margin unlike the bottom 90% but very much like the top 1%)
The ever shrinking middle class and the ever growing working class (Poverty-stricken!) should not be marginalized with the next 9%
They conflate the averages and profit margins
And I am LOVING the mentioning of class division over identity politics
    This is magnificent

Jerry Hewes. You're hilarious. I was merely pointing out how ridiculous and smug that response "Never heard of _____" almost always is - whether someone is referring to a musician, a writer or whatever... like, "I'VE never heard of ______, therefore it either doesn't exist, or it must be of no interest or consequence to anyone else." If it is said of you, on the other hand, the phrase "never heard of him" makes sense.
