I use rockwool to core my block. Duck coat below grade and inside. One way vapor barrier then rockwool and comfort board another one way vapor barrier and masonry veneer.
My house is made of concrete block in the summer it stays cool in the winter warm 25 years of having it there has never been a problem with the plumbing or electricity all the pipes are safe under the concrete the only maintenance that I have given is painting the first floor the roof is made of concrete the second level is the same the third level the iron roof and sheet metal the houses in the USA made of wood always cause problems they are made to create Jobs🏡
what about downsides of thermal mass. its harder to quickly heat up house for short period. house takes more sunlight to heat up. but i know it works well in hot climates. lotta good properties.
One term you overlooked, thermal bridging. You hear a lot of talk about walls; some informative and some B.S. And then what do they fill those expensive walls with? Windows. Or basically, holes in the walls.
Unfortunately, I trust history and other countries more with architecture and building than Americans. I live in Europe and locals cannot believe we allow plastic siding on houses. I had a con twitch a few construction types and they laughed and thought I was joking. Add in thin drywall and voila you have a temporary movie set.
Fill the blocks with spray foam... Put on 2" foam boards on outside... N inside of concrete blocks n it should be as good as its going to get? Fill concrete blocks with cement???
This is nothing but a sales pitch for concrete block building. I built an ICF home of foam blocks filled with concrete in Colorado. In the Winter that 6" of concrete was ice cold all season and acted like a cold sink. Concrete block is better for warm weather cliimates imo. Also concrete floors can be nice thermal mass but they are so hard that I never felt at home living in one.

Statement 💯 %right
Is this a hard construction?
So what is r value of a cinder block wall that is foam filled?

Hahahaha

Too much talk. It would have been nice to see the block work.
Go to Germany. Most homes are built with block. Much cooler. It works
Some nice graphics to illustrate the principles would reinforce the lesson.
if you put drywall on inside you reduce the thermal mass effect substantially
Why do you think that?
No, that actually increases the thermal mass
if that's the case just put down a wet wall
My concrete block house is hot as hell so whats up with that lol

This guy assumes his audience doesn't know how to think. At the introduction he talks down to his audience pretty hard.
Use a heater to make your house warmer...have I losr you yet? 🙄😂
Yes...it's as if he thinks we don't understand english
Oh. Tristan...you so cute....I needed that laugh!
Well to be fair, I am an idiot about this stuff... So I kinda appreciated it 😆
You under estimate the stupidity of some folks lol
This video is a waste of time… No tech data how to improve block…
its a sales pitch
This video said absolutely nothing...
If you want energy efficiency, build with concrete and build underground.
If you want mold, do this.
Bunch of double-speak.
