@@michaeljones633 Excess fluid should have dripped out of the fill hole, and should not cause it to jerk. It almost sounds like there isn't enough fluid, or one of the empty or fill bolts was not tightened. Are you able to see if it's leaking? Scanning the code would provide the most accurate information as the issue may be from something else.

If you're looking to replace a lost smart key for your car, you'll likely need to visit a dealership and provide proof of ownership. The dealership will then program a new key to work with your car. If your smart key isn't working, here are some things you can try: Check the battery: Smart keys run on batteries, and over time the battery can drain, causing detection issues. Check for signal interference: Phones and radios can interfere with the signal between your key and car. Reset your key: To reset your key, you can try holding down the lock button for one second while the car is off, then turning the key four times within 10 seconds and removing it.
I used this video as a guide to changing mine today. Unlike other smartie maintenance/repairs this wasn't actually that annoying. Most of the fear came from stripping the bolts because they are not great quality. Glad I changed it though. What came out was nasty.

Do you manually shift your Smart Fortwo for better performance instead of using the auto clutch? If so, how do you find getting used to it's type of manual gearing as opposed to a regular clutch manual transmission? Also, do you switch gears when the arrow on the dash tells you or do you just get a feel for it by the revs and sound like you normally would do? I'm about to try it for the first time, not having driven a standard in years. My car has no tachometer on the dash.
I did a mix of auto and manual shifting depending on where I was driving. I left it on auto when I felt lazy to shift in the city and highway. It felt different than a manual because you cannot control how long or smooth the clutch engages without a clutch pedal. I shifted based on the sound of the engine. I did add an obd 2 scanguage that told me the rpms, but ended up not using it often.
To show different brands. I had the Mobil 1 from a previous car, but didn't have enough. It was cheaper to buy the Redline fluid, and I did not want to mix brands. Thanks for the question.

Would a transmission fluid slight leak be difficult to fix would it just be replacing a seal?
It might be easy, but it depends where it's leaking from.
