Great how to video. With regards to a pistol, Florida law allows open carry(has to be open carry and can be loaded and chambered) while going to, coming from and while hunting and fishing. Not sure of the statue that its under but just for FYI. I leave mine in a holster unracked and in a compartment just for safety purproses. I just bought stuff from John this year, good guy and the stuff works with half the price of Gator Pro or the like.
great video, very informative for hitting basics. my girl and i are also both nurses. always like tips and tricks. i bring a 60 qt cooloer full of ice bags and a heavy tarp. gets temp down quick. we both got tags this year for okechobee south and poinsetta lake... gonna be good year. good hunting
Hey guys... best video on the subject by far! This will be my first year, but I'm a fast learner and usually get it right round one. One thing I'd like to know though, that can only be gained from EXPERIENCE, is using the time-slots to your advantage. For instance, if you get a week 4 pick, for an area that gets tons of people and pressure, like Lake O south @ 144 permits for example... what are your thoughts on just waiting it out??? I understand the argument to go right away might be A) the monster gator im after may get taken if I wait... and B) they will all be wary/hiding after 3 weeks of hunting pressure.... but what about giving them 6 weeks off, and purposely going say the last week of October? Obviously I could simply keep going til I find the gator I want, but in regards to what you mention about hunting etiquette, id just assume NOT be anywhere near morons who will run over my bait line, or being out with tons of other boats. So if I wait 6 weeks til the very end, and avoid the "beginning surge".... do you guys feel you'd still have an equal chance of picking up a large gator that late in the season? I imagine most people full their tags early? Juuuuuuust curious... thanks for the time... Chris
I do not feel the time of season matters. If you can kill them early you can kill them late. If you can kill them at night, you can kill them during the day. If I had a preference I would choose late season because the weather is MUCH nicer in mid/late October!
Great video, learned a lot. Can you please tell me what size hooks y'all use? I want to get some gator taker hooks, but through my research you don't want to go too big? Appreciate your help and thanks again for sharing this information!
@@Adam-Pitts Good to hear man!! I got phase one St Johns county. Haven't gator hunted in years so excited to give it a go. I hear there is a lot of pressure here, but hoping to get it done week 1 ;)
The “laws” on having a pistol out are ridiculous. For safety if nothing else you should have one on you. Especially when you’re licensed to carry in almost every other situation. Our laws are pitiful in this instance.
We caught a 10 footer on the first day on the Kissimmee River. Thanks for sharing.
Heck yeah! Congratulations on your success 🔥🐊🔨

I use 6/0 ultra strong. Unfortunately GatorTaker sold and is not operating this season!
@@Adam-Pitts Such a bummer, I really appreciate the quick response. Do you think they will reopen at some point?
@@kinibowers7229 I have been told that GatorTaker will resume for the 2025 season! Where did you draw tags for?

Nice! Always remember, the biggest gators get killed later in the year!
Appreciate the information!
Knock ‘em dead!
North Florida: Deep South
Central Florida: could go either way
South Florida: The Tropics
100%
Great video. Maybe a long shot. Do you know any good spots in Nassau county. First time tags first time hunting that land.
Unfortunately I’ve never hunted there!
What caliber bang stick is everyone using?!
.357
@@Adam-Pitts I’ve learned so much from this channel thank you! Should do some diy on skinning I see everyone has a little different way of doing it.
Hmmmm 🤔
What’s the average cost to process a 6ft ish gator?
Not sure. Call up to Florida Trophy Gators (+1 (863) 763-3688) tommorow and ask.
Go get em

I agree.
Can we gator hunt in a pontoon boat?
Sure you can!
Do you have to have a concealed carry permit, to go gator hunting with a gun?
You can not harvest a gator with a gun in Florida my friend.
@@Adam-Pitts So how does one humanely dispatch it after it's hooked on a line? Spear through the back of the skull?
No spearing here. It’s in the video. Bangstick, shot placement, etc.
@@Adam-Pitts What if the hunt is conducted on private property?
If you are hunting with private land tags, you can kill the gator by any means you wish. Be sure to always read your local game laws though!
Three steps is a fallacy.
