    Never forget, that, as Twitter's owner, Elon Musk had Twitter's engineers recalibrate the Twitter algorithm to boost HIS Tweets 1,000X. He's certainly NOT "just another voice".

    I believe in free speech but surely the voice of a rich man from another country should not be able to drown out the voices of the British people. His voice should not carry more weight ( volume) because he has more money than the people of this country.

    • @EdwardLindon
      @EdwardLindon 16 дней назад +19

      Your "but" is misplaced. Restricting the reach of rich, unprincipled fools is inherent to preserving the voice of the general public. This is recognized in liberal philosophy: my liberty only extends to the limits of others' liberty. Restriction is not oppression: it is intrinsic to communal freedom because total liberty for any is tyranny for some. The only question is where to fairly draw the line.

      Did you not see Twitter before he bought it? You couldn't DARE post a right wing opinion without being banned and you had left wing progressives cheering the censorship on. Musk saved free speech, there are people that attack him on there day after day and he doesn't ban them.

      @@stuc3195 Whether they use it or not from not liking is not the point is it? The point is if Musk is in an echo chamber that he's created for himself predominantly with his own views it'll reinforce only what he thinks and not wider perspectives he should probably pay attention to. Sure a major issue for society in general but more so when you own the actual platform 😂

    I remember when Musk bought Twitter and fired lots of people and started losing advertisers hand over fist - the business world was trying to understand the fiscal prospects of the company.
    When in fact, we now know, his intentions had little to do with the fiscal success of the company, instead he just wanted to have his own giant soapbox and a resultant brave new world (sarc)…

    Elon Musk, Nigel Farage, Donald Trump - they all want the same thing: attention. The best way of getting to them is to ignore them and not give them the attention they crave. They LOVE it when you talk about them. So just don't do it. The only reason they have become prolific figures is because you talk about any and every tweet they make. So stop it. Don't fall for their click bait. Don't fall for their vain press releases. Starve them of the attention they crave. Stop talking about them.
