Ren contracted Lyme Disease and was misdiagnosed for years. They treated him with several medications including bipolar meds which all had horrific side effects. He ended up having psychosis due to the Lyme Disease causing brain damage, plus autoimmunity. He finally had a stem cell treatment and it got him well enough to continue music but he’s finally been able to go to Canada for treatment there and has to get daily IV meds and some surgeries for the next 6 months. He’s got a long road ahead of him but he’s happy to finally have some real hope. He said this song was about all of the things he wanted to tell his therapist but couldn’t find the words for at the time.

Song is insane. Dude kind of reminds me of the guy from 28 Days Later, though.
"Power" is a great song that tells a bit about his past and how he coped. His songs from a few years ago that are only audio or animated are pretty revealing and heart wrenching. Videos from his band, Trick the Fox, show his talent ten years ago.
Power is perfect. It answers one of Asia's hypothesis.
"The Hunger" is another great rap song of his. "Chalk Outlines" keeps in the vein of the mental health theme and features Chinchilla who has an amazing voice! There are a few Ren and Chinchilla songs out there but that's another entire rabbit hole to go down. But it's worth the while!
Great reaction. I have been watching Ren busking in Brighton (UK) for seven years and he is never less than captivating. He has many videos showing his versatility but Chalk Outlines (live) is one of my favourites. I hope you will continue on your Ren journey. It's an exciting ride!

Check out his community page...it tells a lot about his story and where he is at now. In short he was misdiagnosed for many years to only find out he has Lyme Disease. He is in Calgary at the moment getting treatment. You may know all this already but just though I'd chime in. Imagine being legitimately physically ill and your Dr tells you that you're not actually sick. It's just your brain telling you that you are and your body had a biological reaction to it. Dude went undiagnosed for years with lymes disease because the drs were trying to treat his mind instead of his body.
It happens all the time. My mother has "digestive issues" that make it so she can't eat - physically cannot eat. After years of tests and treatments, she caught view of her file and saw that one of the doctors labeled her as anorexic. She was P!SSED. They still don't know what she has but has identified trigger foods that she needs to avoid. I have the same thing and my nephew is showing signs of it as well. My wife even went through an issue with Lyme Disease that put her in the emergency room and they never bothered to test her for it. A doctor down the line finally tested her for it and we are in New England where it is extremely common. The health care system is so broken. Even now, I've been in constant pain from a pinched sciatic nerve for four months now. They just keep bouncing me form one place to the next and I have to fight with my insurance company to see if I'm in "enough pain" to warrant treatment. It doesn't even matter what the doctor thinks - the insurance company has the final say!
@Tattoo Dude I'm from Alabama. I had a friend who's wife got sick shortly after being biten by a tick. When they went to the er, he told the doctors that they'd just recently pulled a tick off of her but they were completely dismissive. It took two more drs before somebody tested her for lymes. I guess it doesn't matter where you live, huh.

I love this song.
The words stand out, but as a musician I want to point out the incredible depth of his compositional talent. This is cool stuff with some new feel, something special is happening here. If he's not a Superstar this year there's no justice, if he was fit enough you'd be seeing him everywhere.

You should go to the Community Tab on his page on YT and read some of his comments, especially the one where he tells his story about being sick and him being in Canada right now for 6 months for treatment.
FYI... the beat was Meant to drown out the doctor in the beginning! Lots of people complain about it... as if he messed up! Think about it!
I've had over 1,100hrs of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training.... there'$ a difference of Therapy to P$ychiatric... the latter can pre$cribe. The former can only offer hope.
The therapist is leading and not asking for his participation in the trial to make the predetermined diagnosis which benefits the therapist and the pharmaceutical companies, not the patient. He’s saying the mental health sector of our society has been infiltrated for merely profit and not the betterment of the patient and communities as a whole.
Ren suffers from lymes disease, which have caused all kinds of health complications... Hence the lyrics, 'sick boi, sick boi bitten by a tick boi... He has been having treatment for years. Incredibly talented & creative artist, that the world needs. My new favourite artist.
His "Retakes" (reimagining of existing songs) are pretty good, and so are his raps "power" and "the hunger." All of his stuff is great but you looked like you might need something a little less intense.
Can all who hear do this favor. React. But with an open soul. Yes you are reading correct. Open your soul.
Why does nobody dig into the last line. If we're worried about "what the fuck will remain" when in comes the earth, why are we not worried for Ren. He's doing it to himself, if he digs too deep what the fuck will remain of him?

I think doctors are getting a pretty bad rap from songs like this. I mean I totally agree that it sucks to be misdiagnosed or thrown on the medications that have bad side effects. However there's only a million different tests out there to find out what's wrong with you and it would be nice if they got it right the first time but then on top of it there's a bell curve of how medications react in certain people, meaning it could be the right medication but wrong for you. And finding out the hard way is sometimes the only way, unfortunately. I do hope Ren is on the right track now with treatment and wil be at full health soon!
That is so true generally but Lyme’s disease is one of the hardest to detect because it can mimic the symptoms of multiple other illnesses and one can carry the illness for yours before any symptoms manifest themselves at all.
